Following a near perfect run of singles under a reformed, hip hop dance sound recruiting the likes of rap mogul Denzel Curry, SonReal and rising star Jalmar, Young Franco returns to his indie roots, collaborating with close friend Golden Vessel for new single, “Underneath”. Listen HERE.
Young Franco’s career highlights include Apple Advertising Campaigns, support from Zane Lowe and hosting new MTV series, “Back and Beyond” with Thandi Phoenix, “Underneath” acts as an ode to the incredible, feel good alternative sound that established his core early fanbase.
“Underneath” oozes timelessness, highlighting Young Franco’s ability to shift sounds and genres, while keeping his cornerstone value of quality dance cross over production. Across its just under 4-minute run time, Golden Vessel’s ominous vocals shimmer amidst a cocktail of production flare from Franco. A wobbly bassline combines perfectly with softly tapped piano chords, creating the underbed for a sway worthy alt-pop ballad. As the synth line takes care of the melodic elements in the track’s breakdown, a melancholic ambience is created, channeling the perfect moment for reflection in these unstable times.
On the creation of the track, Golden Vessel stated, “To me it feels like it’s about that corny moment at a music festival or a concert where you’ve spotted someone a couple of times and you lock eyes with them. Your favorite band is playing, and you feel really connected with this stranger even though you know nothing about them.”
