Continuing Oakley’s legacy of innovation, today, the brand releases a revolutionary surf helmet made to enhance the sport’s future. WTR Icon is engineered to take on even the heaviest waves and was designed to help alleviate the sensory concerns that surfers face while riding in a helmet.
WTR Icon weighs in under 365g, making it one of the lightest surfing helmets on the market. The helmet integrates Oakley’s innovative technology, fusing design and research with athlete insights. With WTR Icon, surfers can challenge the waves with increased protection and an overall less inhibited experience, allowing them to take their performance to new levels.
The best-in-class WTR Icon surfing helmet boasts a 4-star rating from Virginia Tech’s Helmet Lab, and features EN-1385 white water certification and D3O® impact protection technology. Made from strong Acrylonitrile Butadiene Styrene (ABS), the helmet is designed to absorb impact, disperse energy, and reduce blunt force trauma. Its unique shell design prevents disorientation and drag in the water. With open ventilation, surfers can easily maneuver through and under water even while duck diving, allowing for immediate drainage upon reaching the surface. The helmet includes adjustable and removable ear protection to maintain hearing, prevent cuts, and protect against eardrum blowouts.
WTR Icon made its debut at the 2024 Lexus Pipe Pro at Pipeline on the North Shore of Oahu, where Team Oakley surfer Caity Simmers took the legendary surf spot by storm, delivering one of the best performances ever by a woman at the Banzai Pipeline.
Starting November 2024, WTR ICON will be available for purchase in limited quantities on Oakley.com worldwide with wider availability in early 2025.
