Santana lead vocalist Andy Vargas has a new collab with R&B/soul singer Frankie J entitled “We’re Still Here Together,” to be released June 21, along with a lyric video. The soulful track celebrates long-lasting love that triumphs the test of time. Vargas, fresh off the heels of a successful Spring tour and Las Vegas residency, will perform a headlining show with Santana at the Hollywood Bowl on June 24. Check out “We’re Still Together” here.
“I am excited to release this new single with fellow vocalist and music producer Frankie J. Frankie and I crossed paths several times throughout the years, but never had a chance to really connect until a few years ago when we worked together on a charity initiative in San Diego. We have always had a mutual respect for each other’s talent. We love the same style of music and we anticipated the opportunity to work together one day. Writing this song with Frankie J and Adrian Cisneros was a perfect synergy. And bringing in the very talented Rodney Alejandro who produced the song with Frankie J, drove the song home with his incredible production skills. I believe that this single really captures the essence of my sound, the Souleros sound, which is the sound of the New Chicano Soul,” said Vargas.
Vargas struck world-wide fame over a decade ago when he became the lead-singer for the iconic rock band, led by 12-time GRAMMY Award-winning artist Carlos Santana. Twenty world tours later, Vargas is embarking on a solo project with his signature Latin R&B sound – Souleros – a blend of “soul” and “boleros” influenced by classic funk and R&B/soul music.
2019 is an exciting and action-packed year for Vargas. He is embarking on a worldwide tour with Santana in celebration of 50 years of Santana’s music, the 50th Anniversary of Santana’s Woodstock performance and the 20th Anniversary of Santana’s ‘Supernatural’ album.
The “Supernatural Now” tour with the Doobie Brothers kicks off June 20 at FivePoint Amphitheatre in Irvine and includes the Hollywood Bowl on June 24th and a series of New York area dates in late August.
He will release a full-length solo, debut album in August, preceded by several singles, including a guest appearance from Carlos Santana on a new version of “Oye Como Va”.
Vargas’s previous single “The Beat” was featured by ESPN’s “Music Of The Month” this year and was released in both English and Spanish versions.
His masterful soul-tinged voice has also graced stages with Enrique Iglesias, Patti Labelle and Taboo of the Black-Eyed Peas.
