Red Bull announced today the celebrity panel that will judge up to 40 crafts at Red Bull Flugtag Cincinnati at 1 p.m. ET on Saturday, Aug. 12 at Sawyer Point Park & Yeatman’s Cove. Teams, comprised of up to five individuals, will launch one-of-a-kind airships off a 27-foot-tall flight deck in front of 30,000 expected spectators. The free event will feature the following panel:
• Chad Johnson, Cincinnati Bengals All-Time Leading Receiver
• Nick Goepper, Three-Time Olympic Skier from Fort Wayne, Indiana
• Jessica Dimon, Cincinnati-Based Drag Queen and Entertainer
• Cale Saurage, TikTok Content Creator
• Chloe Pavlech, Cincinnati native and media personality
These five local and national celebrities will determine the winners of Red Bull Flugtag Cincinnati. They will judge the teams based on the creativity of their craft design, their performance, and the distance of their flight as they compete for exclusive Red Bull experiences and more.
A 5G hybrid mobile network from T-Mobile’s 5G Advanced Network Solutions (ANS) will give viewers tuning into the broadcast an immersive look at all the live action. High-definition drone camera feeds will deliver bird’s-eye views of teams and airships as they take flight, while a 5G POV camera on the water will provide up-close, high-definition views as they land along the Ohio River. Red Bull will also test new anemometers powered by 5G, ensuring staff and participating teams stay informed of wind speed, pressure and direction in real-time.
ESPN2 will broadcast a replay of Red Bull Flugtag Cincinnati on Saturday, Aug. 19 from 6 – 7 p.m. ET.
Outside the home, Red Bull Flugtag will stream live exclusively in restaurants, bars, and other businesses via the Red Bull TV channel on Atmosphere. Atmosphere is the largest streaming TV platform for businesses, available in over 60,000 venues worldwide and reaching over 120 million viewers per month.
In addition, fans can now go to RedBull.com/FlugtagCincinnati to vote for the People’s Choice Award, presented by T-Mobile, given to the favorite craft. The award will be announced at the conclusion of the event.
Cincinnatians will not only be represented by participants but also local businesses onsite at the event.
Cincinnati-based grocer Kroger and family-owned United Dairy Farmers are teaming up with Red Bull Flugtag, among others, and will have special crafts throughout Red Bull Flugtag. United Dairy Farmers will give away its acclaimed ice cream made locally in Cincinnati to all fans in attendance.
Seven collegiate teams will compete in Red Bull Flugtag, thanks in part to Kroger. The grocer supported the college teams with $500 in building materials and a $100 gift card to Kroger to fuel up for the build. The supported teams will feature a Kroger sticker on their craft before they take flight.
Named after the German word for ‘flying day’, Red Bull Flugtag has pushed people’s creativity to the limit for over 30 years. The legendary Red Bull event has been held almost every year in over 50 countries and hosted nine million spectators worldwide. Over the years, Flugtag has seen winning crafts such as Snoop’s Dogg House (San Francisco, 2003),Greased Lightning (Portland, Oregon, 2008) and Flight at the Roxbury (Pittsburgh, 2017). The World Record for the longest flight currently sits at 258 feet set by The Chicken Whisperers in Long Beach, CA in 2013.
