HEALDSBURG, Calif. (June 10, 2017) – Nearly 100 cyclists from Sonoma County and across the United States rode in the third annual Velo & Vines Century Ride in Healdsburg today, raising more than $160,000 for the UnitedHealthcare Children’s Foundation (UHCCF).
The 100-mile ride began at the Arnot-Roberts Winery and continued through the rolling hills and valleys of Alexander, Dry Creek and Russian River – a signature cycling route in the region. UnitedHealthcare executives, including UHCCF President Matt Peterson, also attended the event.
UHCCF provides medical grants that help children gain access to health-related services not covered, or not fully covered, by their parents’ commercial health insurance plans. Since 2007, UHCCF has awarded over 13,000 grants valued at more than $35 million to children and their families across the United States for treatments associated with medical conditions such as cancer, spina bifida, muscular dystrophy, diabetes, hearing loss, autism, cystic fibrosis, Down syndrome, ADHD and cerebral palsy.
