The iconic Shrine Auditorium and Exposition Hall (Expo Hall), known for hosting prestigious events for the last century, has completed a transformative renovation to enhance the artist’s and guest experience while preserving the legacy of its historic charm. Goldenvoice, California’s premier concert promoter and a subsidiary of AEG Presents, has significantly invested in this renovation project for one of their most beloved Los Angeles venues.
Key highlights of the renovation include:
- Advanced Sound System: The renovation features a nearly two-million-dollar acoustic upgrade for the Auditorium and Expo Hall, including a custom-designed baffle system and a state-of-the-art L-Acoustics sound setup. This advanced system includes K2 mains, KS28 subs, and Kara II delays, tailored to enhance sound quality throughout the main floor and balcony to deliver a clearer and richer listening experience for all attendees.
- Flexible PA System: The PA system was engineered for maximum adaptability and delivers exceptional sound quality across our different event spaces. In the Expo Hall, the system can be configured for 5,000- and 3,600-capacity shows and is also supported by a flexible delay. It also supports 6,300-capacity shows in the Auditorium and 6,500 to 7,500-capacity outdoor shows with minimal augmentation. Each deployment is uniquely tailored and can be fine-tuned for their respective room.
- Enhanced Event Spaces: The Auditorium and Expo Hall have been revitalized to combine their distinctive Moorish architecture with modern updates. The Expo Hall’s interiors now feature enhanced lighting systems including 40 additional rigging points for more creative lighting arrangements, alongside restored ceiling tiles and flooring.
- Hospitality Upgrades: Extensive improvements have been made to artist and guest amenities, including redesigned artist dressing rooms that embrace a stylish 70’s vintage vibe, new event spaces, and renovated restrooms. A new HVAC system has also been installed in both event spaces.
- Introducing the Speakeasy: Hidden beneath the venue, the brand-new speakeasy is an exclusive lounge for artists and their guests that allows them to duck under the crowds and enjoy a beverage at the private bar. Modeled after the Shrine’s Moorish architectural style, the lounge offers an elegant, dimly lit setting for artists and their guests to unwind.
“We are thrilled to unveil these new renovations at the Shrine Auditorium & Expo Hall. These enhancements reflect our commitment to providing an exceptional experience for both artists and guests,” said Jennie Perkins, General Manager, “We look forward to welcoming our community to experience these new developments as we approach our 100th anniversary.”
