Released just last week, “Alligator” has turned heads with NME praising it as having a “bombastic and driving sound” and Line of Best Fit calling it “undeniably catchy.” In addition “Alligator” was the #1 greatest gainer in Alternative and #1 most added in Triple A Radio receiving strong support from those who have been waiting for the band’s return.

On “Alligator” co-vocalist Nanna Bryndis Hilmarsdóttir has taken center stage on the song not only as the lead vocalist but also wrote the track as well. On the empowering anthem and what is coming next for the band, they noted, “We are so excited about Alligator, the first release from our upcoming album. The song very much speaks to the excitement and energy that we feel about being back. We can’t wait to share more music and see everyone again.”
FEVER DREAM was co-produced by Rich Costey (MUSE, Vampire Weekend, Chvrches) and is the band’s third studio album.

OF MONSTERS AND MEN went from the talk of Iceland to the top of the global conversation on their 2011 debut, My Head Is An Animal. Not only did the record go platinum, but it also produced an international smash in the form of “Little Talks. The breakthrough single earned a quintuple-platinum certification from the RIAA, made history as “the first song by an Icelandic band to cross 1 billion streams on Spotify, and landed the band performance on Saturday Night Live. The group appeared on official soundtracks for franchises such asThe Hunger Games, The Walking Dead, and Beat Bugs, to name a few. In addition to performing at festivals such as Coachella, Lollapalooza, Firefly, and beyond, they supported Florence + the Machine on a high-profile arena tour. In the midst of this rapid rise, 2015’s Beneath The Skin bowed in the Top 3 of the Billboard Top 200 and the band starred in an episode of HBO’s Game of Thrones in the same year.

Finally, in celebration of the new music, the band has confirmed the television debut performance of “Alligator” on The Tonight Show With Jimmy Fallon on (NBC) on May 15th.

CHEMICAL BROTHERS SHARE NEW VIDEO FOR “GOT TO KEEP ON”

The Chemical Brothers have released a stunning video for their euphoric new single, Got To Keep On, directed by genius auteurs Michel and Olivier Gondry. For the video, Michel and Olivier Gondry put a group of loose-limbed dancers into a darkened studio, turned up the music and created an ultra-trippy, surrealist version of Soul Train. Michel Gondry previously directed envelope pushing videos for The Chemical Brothers’ singles Let Forever Be Star Guitar and Go. View the video HERE.

The third track taken from The Chemical Brothers’ forthcoming album No Geography, which will be released on April 12 by Astralwerks, is an irresistible liquid disco number that’s sat at the heart of The Chemical Brothers’ globe-spanning, mind-bending live shows for the past year. Rolling Stone praised the song, calling it an ecstatic throwback.

The album pre-order is underway now at https://TheChemicalBrothers.lnk.to/NoGeography. Fans who pre-order No Geography in digital format will instantly receive Got To Keep On plus the previously released tracks MAH and Free Yourself. No Geography will also be available on vinyl. A limited edition 12 vinyl of Free Yourself MAH vinyl is now available for pre-order at the Astralwerks store.

The British duo will take their deeply psychedelic live show across the globe in a series of arena shows and festival headlines following the album’s release. In North America, they will headline the Corona Capital Guadalajara Festival on May 11 and play a sold-out May 12 concert at Pepsi Center WTC in Mexico City. Limited tickets remain for the two Los Angeles dates May 15 at Shrine Expo Hall and May 16 at the Greek Theatre and their May 17 show at Bill Graham Civic Auditorium in San Francisco. The Black Madonna will join as special guest for the U.S. shows. See below for full itinerary and tickets, including international dates.

No Geography is The Chemical Brothers’ ninth studio album. It follows their GRAMMY nominated 2015 album, Born In the Echoes, which Pitchfork praised as some of the best pure pop songs Rowlands and Simons have ever made. They have had six No. 1 albums in the U.K. and were the first electronic act ever to receive a GRAMMY winning in the Best Rock Instrumental Performance category for Block Rockin Beats the first of their four GRAMMY wins.

Hyper-Rare Pink Floyd Vinyl Sells For Nearly $14,000

Discogs confirms the Most Expensive Item Sold for August 2018 is a 2xLP Red Color Variant Japanese Promo of Pink Floyd‘s Ummagumma, which went for $13,953USD. The Ummagumma white label, red vinyl variant promo is ultra-rare amongst Pink Floyd releases, as the red variant was used only for promo while the black color variant was stock. This is contrary to typical releases at the time, where black vinyl was used for both promo and stock. Discogs’ Discography Specialist Brent Greissle adds, “Given that it’s Floyd, I’d assume not many promo copies were made, given the lack of actual effort needed to promote it. I’d also assume that radio stations would have played their copies to death, so good, clean copies would be hyper-rare.”

DEF JAM × KANYE WEST, ALESSIA CARA, YG, 2 CHAINZ, & MORE

MOVING THE CHARTS AND MOVING THE CULTURE: OVER 1 BILLION STREAMS GLOBALLY; FOUR CONSECUTIVE TOP 5 ALBUM DEBUTS IN JUNE; 6 NEW TRACKS ON SHAZAM’S US FUTURE HITS CHART; EIGHT TRACKS SIMULTANEOUSLY IMPACTING AT RADIO

Fueled by an aggressive slate of new albums and singles and led by a new executive team – has launched into the summer season with ever-increasing heat. Ignited by Kanye West and G.O.O.D. Music, Def Jam artists have generated over 1 billion cumulative streams globally in the past month, and new music from Alessia Cara, Logic, YG, 2 Chainz and Jeremihis poised to dominate the charts all summer long.

“We’ve been very fortunate to be treated to this unprecedented schedule of game-changing releases from the inimitable Kanye West and his G.O.O.D. Music label,” said Paul Rosenberg, chairman and CEO of Def Jam Recordings. “I’m very pleased with how the team has responded and the success we have shared so far.”

With his historic five album run – yielding an unprecedented four consecutive Top 5 chart debuts in as many weeks from Pusha T, Kids See Ghosts, Nas, and his own #1 album yeKanye has once again grabbed control of the culture and shifted the paradigm. By releasing five 7-song albums, including the most-recent, critically acclaimed K.T.S.E. from Teyana Taylor – in consecutive weeks, Kanye has changed the concept of the album rollout, at once impossibly shortening the runway and elongating the news cycle, while unspooling the narrative with each release. In effect, the five albums have created a 35-song “playlist” across multiple genres: old school, sample-heavy rap, progressive, melodic hip-hop, R&B, psychedelic rock-rap, and more.

In addition to five albums lodged in the Top 25 on Apple Music, songs by Def Jam artists have also netted 19 debuts on the Billboard Hot 100. Charging headlong for the charts, Alessia Cara’s “Growing Pains,” #1 Most Added at Top 40 radio for two weeks running, and one of six new Def Jam tracks on Shazam’s US Future Hits Top 20 chart, including: “Yikes” and “All Mine” by Kanye West, “Bigger Than You” by 2 Chainz, “The Light”by MihTy (Jeremih & Ty Dolla $), and “Cops Shot The Kid” by Nas.

Def Jam’s seasoned promotion staff has an astonishing 8 tracks going for adds across multiple formats at radio – including “If You Know You Know” by Pusha-T, and “Big Bank” by YG. Propelled by an acclaimed BET Awards performance and the new music video trending at #3 on YouTube, “Big Bank” has exploded at Apple Music, Spotify, and Shazam.

At the same time, multi-platinum, Grammy®-nominated Def Jam artist Logic is headlining a sold-out tour in support of his #1 mixtape Bobby Tarantino II, the follow-up to Everybody, recently certified platinum. The mainstream worldwide success of Logic’s 4x-platinum “1-800-273-8255” is still reverberating more than a year after its release: last week 1-800 was awarded a Gold Lion for Artist as a Cause Ambassador at the annual Cannes Lion global brand conference.

Grammy®-nominated multi-platinum singer/songwriter Jhené Aiko’s life-affirming album TRIP is also on the verge of RIAA gold certification, after spinning off two global hit singles, the gold “While We’re Young,” and platinum “Sativa” featuring Rae Sremmurd, each with over 100 million streams.
Behind the scenes at Def Jam Recordings, the company’s amazing new digital team has implemented new strategies to grow social followers and engagement. Def Jam now boasts the #1 social following of all major record labels, with an Industry-leading 400+K followers on Instagram, over 900+K followers on Twitter and growing. The five G.O.O.D. Music/Def Jam releases alone have amassed over 70 million mentions and counting.

In another first for the label, Def Jam has employed an aggressive Direct-To-Consumer strategy to become the#1 D2C label within the Universal Music Group (UMG). This has been driven largely by the new G.O.O.D. Music releases, with creative, robust offerings of merch, vinyl, and special products including lithographs, cassettes and more.

While rolling out new projects from its heavy-hitting roster of stars, Def Jam is bringing a fresh crop of talent into the marketplace, with new music from recent signing like YK Osiris, Bobby Sessions, G.O.O.D. Music’s 070 Shake & Valee, PVRX, Fetty Luciano, and more.
