5 Best Sports Activities for Students

With the lure of electronic activities like playing computer games and surfing the net that don’t require physical exercise, students may miss out on an opportunity to socialize, keep healthy and boost their brainpower.

Sports activities will relieve your stress, help you to sleep better, control your weight, improve your mood and give you more energy. Universities and colleges usually have many traditional sports teams, but there are many other sports activities on campus that cater to all types of individuals and levels of expertise, from complete novices to the very sporty.

Here are various sports for students, some more conventional and others a little more unusual.

Traditional sports

The most popular sports for students are usually traditional ones like football, basketball, volleyball and softball. Students who begin playing these sports in high school often continue in college. The average university sponsors at least twenty different sports.

Playing team sports not only allows you to become fit but has many other benefits too. Sharing fun and special moments, socialization, making new friends and developing teamwork skills are all part of playing in a team.

Playing a team sport allows you to pick up a number of soft skills, too, such as time management and strategic thinking. Showing you could play a team sport without affecting your studies, or that you could take a responsible role, such as captain, will impress future employees.

Taking a break from your studies to play a team sport will help to keep your mind focused and alert because exercise increases the blood flow to your brain.

Solo sports

There are many great ways to spend time exercising on your own. Swimming is one solo sport that offers a low-impact full-body workout. You can schedule it whenever you have the time and an hour of swimming will burn calories and give you some good aerobic exercise. Running, walking and strength training are other enjoyable solo sports.

As a student, you have a heavy workload and you often need to make a concerted effort to fit exercise into your program. You can even engage in an intensive cardio workout right in your dorm room to save time.

There are many Pilates and yoga videos on YouTube that will give you a good workout. If you feel you don’t have the time, you can use writing services by the professional essay writers to complete college tasks, so your life is more balanced. Thesis or dissertation, college essays or term papers, online writing experts help you with every writing project.

Adventure sports

If you like to accompany your exercise with a bit of adventure, off-road cycling, hiking, cross-country skiing, rowing, or rock climbing can challenge you. It also allows you to see more of nature, take great photos and forget about your studies for a while so you can return to them refreshed.

Just remember that adventure sports place more demands on your body and proper nutrition is essential to keep your performance at its peak and reduce chances of injury.

Reading nutrition essay topics, such as how nutrition influences brain performance or what type of nutrition you need if you do adventure sports, can help you to make the right choices when it comes to what you eat.

Dance activities

After sitting in class, studying and researching, sometimes all you want to do is get up and move.  Dancing is often an extremely popular activity at college, with lots of interest and a variety of different opportunities, from hip-hop to ballroom.

Dance clubs are student organizations that dance for fun and provide a great way to get some exercise. As the atmosphere is non-competitive, this is a more laid-back way to participate in dance than to join a dance team which competes with other college teams.

Most dance clubs also have a performance or two to showcase their talents and you can invite family or friends along to see you perform. Special dance events can include programs organized by students to support charitable causes.

Unusual sports

If you’re not into traditional sports, college is the place where you’re likely to find some unusual clubs. You could find an unusual club where you’ll meet people with similar interests to you.

If you’re a Harry Potter fan, you may be tickled to play Quidditch which has made its way from fiction into our muggle world. Players may not ride on brooms but the game can be highly entertaining. Roller Derby is another full-contact sport played on wheels by both men and women.

If you’ve always wondered what Underwater Hockey or Disc Golf (Frolf) must be like to play, now’s your chance. Parkour is another unusual sport that requires quick reflexes and stamina to overcome obstacles and the environment, simply by using your body.

A final word

To find out what’s available at your school, check the student organizations page on the website and you’ll be amazed at how many diverse opportunities a school may have to offer.  University life can be stressful, with heavy workloads and pressure to meet deadlines for assignments. If you don’t find ways to relieve the pressure, you will find it difficult to cope.

Sports activities provide the perfect outlet, keep your brain and body healthy and offer you the opportunity to make friends, conquer physical challenges and much more. Finding the right balance between your studies and other activities can be a challenge, but it is important if you want to be able to look back on an enjoyable and memorable university experience.

Hotel Property Management Tips

5 Tips To Choose The Right Property Management System For Your Hotel

Hoteliers and their staff are busy all the time. Anything that can take some weight off their shoulders will help them to work on other important tasks. Property Management System is the solution as it removes repetitive tasks and takes care of time-consuming processes. But the problem is: choosing the right PMS tool to help manage your property. Making a wrong move will result in losing not only money but a great deal of your time too. Here are five tips to help you choose the right property management system for your hotel.

Mind the Costs

Look for what your business needs and then choose a PMS that will meet the requirement. Even though costs will play an essential factor, it’s important to have a system that works with your workflow and meets your needs. Take advantage of the free trial or demo, which in fact is something you should ask first, and see whether it’s suitable for your hotel.

Opt for a cloud-based rather than the premise-based system which is more costly. The cloud-based system will not require you to hire an IT service to manage it. You will only have your computer or mobile to deal with. Remember to find something that favors your pocket.

Security Should be of Concern

To safeguard all the information about your guests’ data and prevent any breaches, security should be your concern. In an era where customer privacy is of utmost importance, and you don’t want to lose them, you should ask for a hotel property management system demo from every provider to see what they have as far as security is concerned.

Security breaches in hotels can involve password theft, network compromise, personal data compromise, etc. All the breaches are dealt with individually. Some need an application firewall to solve the problem while others are more complex and require a closer look.

Form a Plan and a Team

Unless you have a small-home-turned-hotel where you and your spouse are the team, one of the critical things to do is forming an integration team consisting of managers and staff. The importance of doing this is to make sure that the PMS addresses most of the needs in your hotel and it’s evaluated from different viewpoints.

Creating a plan and a team will also allow you to involve the eventual users, who are the staff. For small hotels or lodgings, ma’ and pa’ sit down and discuss the plan because they are the staff. It’s a vital decision to make and not even the activities of the day should make you forget about it. It will make your life easier and allow you to make more money.

Look For a PMS Provider Offering Training

Hospitality is an ever functional industry running 24/7, and you should look for providers who can offer support whenever you need. That should also mean that they are available to troubleshoot any problems you might face. Go for a PMS that provides training for the first-time users and also provides a refresher course in case you need it later on.

Ongoing training and support will help you understand new features and integrations. It’s vital to find a PMS that offers assistance so that you can solve some of the issues you might have.

Find One that Can be Integrated with Other Apps

PMS should be able to perform all the tasks flawlessly with other apps, that means, data from PMS can be transferred to other apps seamlessly so that work can be managed better. Inquire to understand whether the app can communicate and integrate with other systems.

What does this mean? For instance, if you have been storing all your data as Microsoft Excel file then you adopt a new web-based app, the data can be copied accurately and correctly such that no one will have to type it all again i.e. PMS with csv import-export feature.

Think about yourself, your staff and your property. What could make their work easier and boost your profits at the same time? The answer is the Property Management System. Use the tips above to choose the most convenient one.

Pirelli × Prada

Pirelli has signed an agreement with Luna Rossa Challenge for the constitution of a partnership aimed at the development of a multi-year project which will lead to Luna Rossa’s participation in the next edition of the America’s Cup, set for New Zealand in 2021.

Pirelli and Prada will be co-titled sponsors of the vessel and will detail their plans at a soon to be organized event.

Now in its 36th edition, the America’s Cup is the oldest trophy in the history of sport, which sees the participation of the most technologically advanced boats in the world.

The project will entail, over the 4-year period 2018-2021, a series of regattas, events and activities with the two brands as protagonists. In 2019, the first two regattas of the America’s Cup World Series will take place in the Mediterranean; in 2020 another three World Series regattas will be held in Europe, the United States of America and Asia; from January 2021, always in Auckland, there will be the Prada Cup, Challenger selection regattas, followed by the 36th edition of the America’s Cup Presented by Prada, scheduled for March 2021.

This will be Luna Rossa’s fifth tilt at the Trophy and in this edition it will be the Challenger of Record, that is, the first challenger of the last edition’s winning team, Emirates Team New Zealand.

Patrizio Bertelli, Chairman of Luna Rossa Challenge, said “Pirelli is the ideal partner for this new America’s Cup challenge. With over half a century’s experience at the highest levels of high technology world sports, it will be an important asset at the heart of our project. In this sense it is correct to speak of a real and true collaboration between the Team and Pirelli.”

“Pirelli – said Marco Tronchetti Provera, Executive Vice President and CEO of Pirelli – chose to be a part of this project because it represents both a sporting and technological challenge, able to bring Italy and the Pirelli brand to the attention of the entire world. The America’s Cup, as Formula 1 is to motorsport, is the most prestigious sailing competition, with a great history and tradition. It embodies values and is for a public of impassioned fans that perfectly match Pirelli’s, enabling the company to continue enriching its brand, reinforcing its positioning in high technology with clients around the world and its relationship with consumers through traditional channels and all the new digital platforms.”

The Harold Robinson Foundation provides the funding and resources to send Los Angeles’s less fortunate children to camp, in a safe and nurturing environment, far away from the stress that most of them face on a daily basis. The foundation also runs a summer day at the Markham Middle School in Watts, CA. For more information, visit www.haroldrobinsonfoundation.org/.

Looking for Love

Important Qualities to Consider when Looking for Love :
We all want to be able to settle down with someone special one day but finding the perfect partner is not always easy. While there are plenty of resources to help you find love these days, such as online dating sites, you have to be sure that the person you choose has the right qualities. It is not all about appearance, which is something that you need to remember when you are looking for that special someone.

While you do not have to go over the top and start carrying out a background check online every time you find someone you like, there are certain qualities that you should look for. This will make it far easier to find someone that you will not only be attracted to physically but will also enjoy the company of. Relationships that are based purely on physical attraction are far less likely to succeed in the long run compared to those that are meaningful on a deeper levels.

What else you need to look for :
Of course, physical attraction is important in a relationship. However, you should remember that it is you that must feel attracted to the person not your friends and family. So, don’t worry if your friends don’t like the look of the person you are interested in – as long as you have that attraction there, that’s all that matters.

One thing you should look for when you are looking for love is someone that has a good sense of humor. Unless you want your life to be deadly serious all the time, it is important that you find someone you can have a laugh and a joke with. Finding a partner with a similar sense of humor as you can be really beneficial because it means that you are likely to have a lot in common from the types of movies you like to the types of activities you enjoy.

Another important quality that you need to look at is just how much the person has in common with you. Of course, they do not have to like every little thing that you like. However, having some similar interests is important because it means that you will be able to do far more together when it comes to your free time. If you enjoy things such as walking, cycling, and hiking, finding a partner that prefers to be slumped in front of the TV in all their spare time could make things difficult when it comes to spending quality time together.

One more thing that many people look for is someone that can provide some essence of security and stability. This doesn’t refer to how much money they earn or what assets they have. It means finding someone that you can wholly trust and someone that wants to work toward the same life goals as you. This will enable you both to work toward a common goal such as eventually settling down and starting a family.

PORSCHE WORKS TEAM

Introducing an all new title from Delius Klasing, Porsche Works Team, that illustrates the true nature of 24-hour races – the tension, exhaustion, and the dedication. World-famous photographer, Frank Kayser followed the Porsche team for three years, detailing a world previously unseen by outsiders.

Kayser and his team were allowed where other press photographers were not: in the pit, in the pit lane during the change of tries and drivers, and in the closed off areas of the racers quarters. Every photo in this book shows the stress, the top performance, the eternal night and the success of perfection.

A special signed edition of the book, limited to 99 copies is also available for sale.
