ARMIN VAN BUUREN × NE-YO

AIM FOR THE SOUL WITH NEW ‘BALANCE’ COLLAB: ‘UNLOVE YOU

Just one week before the release of Armin van Buuren’s seventh artist album, a huge collab emerges as the most recent single to come off of ‘Balance’. A monumental link-up with none other than R&B/pop superstar NE-YO, ‘Unlove You’ sees the seminal artists explore the subject of a recognizable post-breakup dilemma in their own unique way.

A collaboration as eye-popping as it is ear-catching, ‘Unlove You’ delivers its lyrical message with pinpoint accuracy whilst sporting a club-tinged groove that can do no wrong. With killers vocals, pounding beats and recognizable lyrics that aim straight for the soul, this track shows that being open-minded unlocks a whole new world of possibilities. The track was also produced by award-winning producers Jesse ‘Corporal’ Wilson and Tearce Kizzo.

Armin van Buuren: “Part of the beauty of having no limitations at all in the studio is that I get to work with the most talented people no matter what ‘genre’ they’re in, and NE-YO is no exception. It’s an honor to have worked together. We both built a legacy in our own respective scenes, and I’m grateful we were able to bridge the gap between them through ‘Unlove You’.”

NE-YO: “I already loved this song because of its subject matter, as it’s familiar territory. But Armin’s musical interpretation takes it to a whole other level. The energy is contagious!”

Throughout his more than a decade long career, NE-YO has proven himself to be as powerful with his pen as he is in the recording studio and on stage. The Las Vegas native, born Shaffer Smith, quickly became known as a go-to hitmaker, penning bangers like Rihanna’s ‘Unfaithful’, ‘Russian Roulette’ and ‘Take a Bow’, Beyonce’s 2006 breakup anthem ‘Irreplaceable’, and Mario’s sugary breakout single ‘Let Me Love You’. His first single, 2005’s ‘So Sick’, soared to #1 on the Billboard Hot 100 charts, and was certified quadruple platinum. Since then, the triple Grammy winner has racked up a collection of hits, including stream bombs such as ‘Sexy Love’, ‘Closer’, ‘Because of You’ and ‘Miss Independent’.

Prior to the release of the full ‘Balance’ album on October 25, Armin van Buuren already released a handful of new tracks from the album. Previously, fans got a taste of the album through ‘Waking Up With You’ (feat. David Hodges), ‘Mr. Navigator’ (with Tempo Giusto), ‘It Could Be’ (with Inner City), ‘High On Your Love’ (feat. James Newman), ‘Don’t Let Me Go’ (feat. Matluck) and ‘All Comes Down’ (feat. Cimo Fränkel). And now, with the release of ‘Unlove You’ and the fact that there are only seven days to come until the album launch, the wait is almost over.

NE-YO XMAS ALBUM

Purchase Another Kind Of Christmas HERE

Today, NE-YO released Another Kind Of Christmas (Motown Records/Compound Entertainment), his first-ever holiday album. The three-time GRAMMY® winner brings his own unique point-of-view to the season with five newly-penned tracks and reimagined versions of thoughtfully-selected Christmas classics – including “Someday At Christmas,” a plea for peace written by Motown songwriters Ron Miller and Bryan Wells for Stevie Wonder during the Vietnam War, and Marvin Gaye’s “I Want To Come Home For Christmas,” inspired by the plight of prisoners of war.

“NE-YO says, of the album “see you this Holiday season and every holiday season after! Think you’re gonna love it that much!”

“Just Ain’t Christmas” candidly captures the pain of a Christmas Eve break-up while the playful double entendres of “Open Mine Tonight” celebrate what goes down after the kids go to bed. “Talk About It” evokes childhood Christmas memories, complete with the inevitable family dramas that unfold – “somebody gon’ fight, somebody gon’ cry, somebody gon’ try to leave/Then they gon’ squash it all right before it’s time to eat.” NE-YO, Satori and Dre Island each take a verse on the reggae-influenced “Christmas Vibez,” which imagines a tropical holiday getaway for two. Other guest artists include Candice Boyd on “Carol Of The Bells” and RaVaughn on “Someday At Christmas.”

NE-YO puts his stamp on such standards as Donny Hathaway’s “This Christmas,” “Merry Christmas Baby,” originally recorded by Johnny Moore’s Three Blazers, and “The Christmas Song,” which was written by Robert Wells and Mel Tormé and first recorded by the Nat King Cole Trio. He recorded Another Kind Of Christmas in Montego Bay, Jamaica with longtime collaborator Curtis “Sauce” Wilson producing many of the tracks.

NE-YO has sold a cumulative 20+ million adjusted albums worldwide. He has won three GRAMMY® awards and been honored with a total of 14 nominations, His first single, 2005’s “So Sick,” hit No. 1 on the Billboard Hot 100, and was certified quadruple Platinum. Harry Connick, Jr., 360 MAGAZINE

Harry Connick, Jr.

Following the announcement of his album True Love: A Celebration of Cole Porter (Verve Records, October 25), Harry Connick Jr. releases the video for the first single “Just One of Those Things.” Watch the video here.

Directed by Bobby Bruderle, the video showcases an exciting use of MIDI technology to create a visual orchestra. Each time Harry plays a note on the keyboard it sends a signal to the hanging lights surrounding him to synchronize and light up, each note coordinated with a specific light bulb. “This is one of my favorite Cole Porter songs,” says Harry. “It’s actually a sad song, but I had so much fun making the video, I was smiling the whole time… I LOVED the concept and the simplicity of me, some bare light bulbs and a piano.”

After 30 million albums sold worldwide, 13 No. 1 jazz albums in the United States, and a music, film, television and Broadway career spanning three decades, Harry Connick, Jr. returns with a sensational new record, True Love: A Celebration of Cole Porter.

Comprised exclusively of Cole Porter compositions, True Love: A Celebration of Cole Porter highlights Harry’s talents as a pianist, singer, arranger, orchestrator, and conductor, as he breathes life into the popular songs. It is not surprising that Porter would appeal to Harry since, like Harry, he wrote both music and lyrics and redefined what it meant to be the complete songwriter. Harry, whose success in several styles of music as well as film, theater, and television, has similarly reshaped the notion of what it means to be the complete entertainer.

Evan Konrad Shares Debut Single

Singer, songwriter, producer, and multi-instrumentalist Evan Konrad uncovers his debut single “The Long Way Out” today.

Get it HERE via LAVA/Republic Records.

An unpredictable anthem teetering between manic energy and cathartic falsetto, the track invites listeners into the artist’s handcrafted sonic world. Produced and performed by Konrad, “The Long Way Out” hinges on an airy beat, haunting vocals, and a seesawing chant—“We take the long way out.”

On the track Konrad noted: “The Long Way Out is a journey through the act of letting go, and how romanticized it can be throughout the grieving process. Unable to accept the changes within ourselves, or the changes in another person, as we reach for a connection that no longer exists. I wrote this song to acknowledge and work through this within myself. I want this song to be a beacon of light for anyone who is looking for the same liberation I sought after.”

This is just the beginning for Konrad. He’s set to unveil more music throughout 2019 in addition to launching his first proper tour.

Born and raised in Abbotsford, BC Canada, Konrad devoted his entire life to crafting music. Growing up in a house where creativity would be encouraged at every turn, he spent countless hours writing songs and producing. Following stints in the studio and on the road with other artists, he locked himself away in the studio and commenced work on what would become his forthcoming debut. With nothing more than a few songs on his private SoundCloud link, he caught the attention of LAVA founder Jason Flom who signed him on the spot upon listening to his music, because of the downright mind-blowing songcraft. The best way to describe the music would be Thom Yorke translating Christopher Nolan’s Memento into songs, and even that only scratches the surface.

BFUNK

BFUNK DANCE

Chaya Kumar and Shivani Bhagwan, the creators and founders of BhangraFunk and BollyFunk, have quickly become a worldwide phenomenon, known as BFUNK. Their viral YouTube dance videos featuring students from their sold-out classes in Los Angeles have caught the attention of many. They have collaborated with the King of Bollywood, Shah Rukh Khan and received co-signs from other Bollywood superstars like Diljit Dosanjh, Arjun Kapoor and esteemed choreographers Geeta Kapoor and Tricia Miranda. With over 200 million cumulative views on their dance videos, Shivani and Chaya have built an enormous fan base around the world. (#FUNKFAM) This has allowed them to travel and teach workshops internationally and bring a new style of dance to many renowned dance studios. They are pushing boundaries with their messaging and proving that dance can be a career.

360 had the opportunity in joining #BFUNK for a special dance class focused on crafting background dancers and the proper techniques during an on-stage live performance. The crossover between Bollywood and Hip-Hop formed powerful combos and an overall fluid routine that both choreographers taught. The whole experience felt like joining a family dance camp. Kumar and Bhagwan made it comfortable to ask questions, repeat steps and took the time to identify common mistakes. Hearing how proud they were of the class and watching them interact with familiar and unfamiliar faces showcased their passion for others to succeed. Classes are perfect for dancers of any experience and background, with this class emphasized on dancers breaking into the industry. Surprise guest and recording artist, Raja Kumari (whose song the routine covered), was invited as an example of how one should perform alongside a known performer.

“As South Asians, there exists no system of representation for an industry dancer to be booked on a professional job within their niche. In this class, we provided our students the opportunity to back up an artist, as it would be on stage.  It is our hope that this venture will create a clatter and foreshadow new beginnings for South Asian dancers.”

Kumar and Bhagwan will continue to foster a positive environment in their classes and relentlessly strive to change the conversation, eliminating labels and discussing dance as simply, dance. At age 26, their careers only continue to skyrocket into new heights.
