The first production example of the RUF CTR Anniversary is being delivered to its owner during a press conference at the Geneva International Motor Show. The model was first announced at the 2017 Geneva Motor Show on the 30th anniversary of the original RUF CTR and produces 710 PS (700 BHP) from its twin-turbo 3.6L, flat-six engine. Weighing in at just 1,200 kilograms (2,640 pounds), the 2019 RUF CTR Anniversary has a top speed of 360 km/h (223 mph). This particular example is finished in the iconic yellow color scheme of the original CTR and features unique touches like matching yellow seat belts, new wheels compared to the prototype, and a new “whale tale” design with a slimmer profile.

The all-new RUF GT is a Porsche 991.2 GTS-based model acting as an extension of the previous generation of the Porsche 911. The RUF GT features a 3.0 liter flat-six engine producing 515 HP, 645 Nm of torque and has a total weight of 1450 kg (3,200 lbs). The launch-control equipped 7-speed double clutch gearbox helps the car accelerate from 0 to 62 mph in just 3.4 seconds. The car is also available with a manual transmission. The RUF duck tail, rear diffuser and front splitter generate high downforce and help keep the RUF GT stable at its top speed of 320kmh (199 mph).

“The Geneva Auto Show is always a thrilling way to introduce our work to the world,” said Estonia Ruf, marketing director of RUF Automobile GmbH. “These two cars represent years of development, thousands of man hours and a lifetime of passion and enthusiasm. As we continue celebrating our 80th anniversary in 2019 these cars will be the centerpiece, each one embodying what makes a RUF so special.”

RUF × THE QUAIL

THE ALOIS RUF REUNION

For 80 years RUF has worked in pursuit of the perfect driving experience. That pursuit began with repairs, moved to modifications and finally to the engineering and manufacture of its own cars. From the small town of Pfaffenhausen, Germany, RUF turned the automotive world upside down when its turbocharged CTR was crowned the fastest car in the world by Road & Track magazine in 1987. At the Ehra-Lessien test track legendary racing driver Phil Hill hit 211 mph in the “Yellowbird,” a nickname given to the car by the magazine because of the shining yellow paint.

At The Quail, A Motorsports Gathering this year, a selection of custom RUF creations will be on display. The all new RUF CTR will make its U.S. debut alongside the very first “Yellowbird” CTR #001. With a bespoke carbon fiber monocoque and 710 horsepower flat-six engine, the all-new CTR carries on the legacy of its record setting predecessor.

The Quail × A Motorsports Gathering

The premier automotive event will welcome four featured classes — “The Great Lancias,” “50th Anniversary of the Espada & Islero,” “70 Years of the Iconic Porsche 356” and “The Alois Ruf Reunion” — during its Monterey Car Week Event held at Quail Lodge & Golf Club on August 24, 2018

Today, The Quail, A Motorsports Gathering has officially announced four featured classes for its 16th-anniversary celebration on Friday, August 24, 2018. Recognizing Italian heritage and German innovation, the special selection will include “The Great Lancias,” “50th Anniversary of the Espada & Islero,” “70 Years of the Iconic Porsche 356” and “The Alois Ruf Reunion.”

“The Great Lancias” class will be highlighted by notable models that exemplify the Italian manufacturer’s strong rally heritage. Key vehicles will include a 1974 Stratos HF Group IV, a 1955 Aurelia B24S and a 1988 Delta Intergrale 8V.

Meanwhile, the “50th Anniversary of the Espada & Islero” class will pay tribute to two of Lamborghini’s most timeless V12-powered touring cars: the low-production Islero GT and the 2+2 Espada that became one of Sant’Agata’s best-selling models. Half a century after both models debuted at the Geneva Motor Show, 21 of these iconic vehicles will be on display.

The Quail will also celebrate German automotive history and legacy through the special “70 Years of the Iconic Porsche 356” class. The display will include noteworthy examples of the marque’s first production sports cars such as a 1951 356 Pre-A Split Window, a 1958 356 A Speedster, a 1965 356 C Coupe and other seminal vehicles from the legendary marque.

“The Alois Ruf Reunion” will focus on German innovation through a selection of sports cars from the legendary Pfaffenhausen manufacturer and tuner. Included in the class will be the 1988 CTR “Yellowbird” #001, freshly restored by RUF themselves. The car will be presented alongside the new 710 horsepower CTR, making its North American debut. Along with the old and new CTR, several other prominent RUF vehicles will grace the event — from the CTR2 to the RCT and many more.

“To amp up the anticipation surrounding The Quail, we are featuring four new classes for car enthusiasts from around the world to enjoy,” said Gordon McCall, Director of Motorsports for The Peninsula Signature Events. “Guests of the show will be delighted to see a remarkable selection of cars that represent the Italian and German perspectives of automotive excellence.”

Keeping with tradition, these featured classes will complement the familiar roster of pre- and post-war classes as they line the prestigious greens of Quail Lodge & Golf Club.

In addition to the world-class selection of vehicles, The Quail will offer an array of culinary pavilions, award-winning wines and spirits and a Fireside Chat Series in the elegant yet family- and pet-friendly environment. Guests will also be invited to attend the Bonhams Quail Lodge Auction taking place concurrently on the Quail Lodge Farm Field.

The event is sold out; however, if an individual has missed the opportunity to purchase tickets, they may submit a waitlist request online. Other options for admission include The QuailHelicopter Ticket and The QuailCharitable Patron Ticket, which are still available for purchase. RUF Makes US Debut

The German sports car manufacturer will have a special class at The Quail, A Motorsports Gathering on Friday, August 24, 2018 and debut its latest CTR alongside the freshly restored legendary 1989 “Yellowbird” CTR #001.

Ruf Automobile GmbH, manufacturer and engineer of bespoke sports cars, will be honored in a special class at The Quail, A Motorsports Gathering entitled “The Alois Ruf Reunion”. The event will make the first North American appearance of the new RUF CTR alongside the completely restored RUF 1989 “Yellowbird” CTR #001 owned by an automobile enthusiast, connoisseur and car collector Bruce Meyer.

“The Alois Ruf Reunion” will bring together a handful of notable cars from throughout the marque’s history, reuniting them with Alois and Estonia Ruf on the manicured lawns of The Quail Lodge in Carmel-by-the-Sea, California. Other RUF cars that will be on display include the CTR Clubsport, CTR2 and RCT.

“When we began building our own automobiles in 1974 it was all for the thrill of the drive,” said Alois Ruf, owner of RUF Automobile GmbH. “We are honored to have been given a special class at The Quail, but we recognize that this is a celebration of RUF owners and their passion for driving as much as it is the RUF brand. RUF is not a car or a company, it’s an all-encompassing experience of which we are just a part. We share this honor with all of the members of the RUF community.”

The 1987 RUF CTR “Yellowbird” took the automotive world by storm when it out-paced every other production car in the world, topping out at an unprecedented 211 mph at the Ehra-Lessien test track in Germany. Along with its top-speed record, the CTR also became the first production car to break the 200-mph barrier. RUF commemorated the 30th anniversary of the “Yellowbird” with the release of the new CTR, an entirely bespoke high performance sports car developed and built in RUF’s Pfaffenhausen, Germany facilities. Among other engineering achievements, the new CTR is the first carbon fiber monocoque production car with a rear-engine layout. The turbo charged RUF is only equipped with minimalistic electronic driving aids, such as ABS and slip-control, resulting in one of the purest driving experiences available in a modern car. Production of the new CTR is expected to begin in late 2018.

The celebration will also include a private event for RUF owners at a separate location during the week. For more information on RUF automobiles, visit the RUF website at ruf-automobile.de/en.
