CMG and UMLE Sign Carmen DeLeon

Capitol Music Group (CMG) and Universal Music Latin Entertainment (UMLE) have signed singer Carmen DeLeon to a worldwide recording agreement, it was announced today by CMG Executive Vice President Jeremy Vuernick and UMLE President Victor Gonzalez who jointly signed her to their respective companies.
DeLeon, who is represented by Jared Paul and Janelle Lopez of Faculty Management, was born in Caracas, Venezuela and relocated to Tampa and later to Barcelona when she was in her early teens. While in Spain she found success on that country’s edition of The Voice, drawing a devoted fan base with her infectious energy and unforgettable voice. DeLeon broadened her local following with a series of successful concerts and online covers, and the 18-year-old artist is now completing work on her U.S. debut that will be released later this year.
According to Jeremy Vuernick and Sergio Vega, Carmen is a truly talented artist with an unmistakable voice and undeniable charisma. We are approaching her development from a global perspective that’s befitting to her ability to sing flawlessly in both English and Spanish. This will allow her to further bridge the gap between Latin and Anglo audiences. We are incredibly excited to be welcoming her to the Capitol family.
Victor Gonzalez said, “We warmly congratulate Carmen DeLeon on joining our newly created synergy between UMLE/Capitol. It is a privilege to include her unique talent in our roster of a new generation of Latin singers, writers and performers. We wish her much success in this electrifying new stage of her professional career.”

Rise has all the ingredients of a summer smash. IDOLATOR

Jonas Blue debuts the official video for his latest anthem Rise featuring vocals from Jack & Jack. Quickly dubbed as a summer smash by Idolator, Rise has amassed over 17 million global streams in just three weeks. The video, which was shot in Lisbon and features appearances by Jonas and Jack & Jack, can be viewed HERE.

The breakout U.K. artist/producer began work on the song after hearing the U.S. duo interviewed on a Los Angeles radio station. Jack & Jack are a phenomenon in their own right: having risen to fame on Vine before turning to music, the childhood friends have a combined 85 million followers on social media.

Rise has all the hallmarks of a Jonas Blue summer smash. A breezy flute riff gives way to the signature piano chords, snare rolls and pitched vocal samples, which steer into an exhilarating electronic synth drop. Billboard calls the song a feel-good house-pop tune, while Dancing Astronaut declares it bright and bouncy. Download / stream Rise HERE.

Jonas Blue will kick off a summer residency at Ibiza, the new high tech superclub in Ibiza, on June 24. A four-time BRIT Award nominee, he has amassed over four billion cumulative streams and 25 million single sales globally. Fast Car, his breakthrough single featuring Dakota, reached No. 1 on Billboard’s Dance Club Songs chart. It went Platinum in the U.S. and has a total of 39 Platinum certifications worldwide. Subsequent singles Perfect Strangers and Mama are both certified Gold in the States. Jonas, who has recently remixed songs for Sigrid and James Bay, is currently setting up his own record label, Blue Future. Debut signings will be announced soon.

BIRDMAN ‘BEFORE ANYTHANG’ ON APPLE MUSIC

Vaughn Lowery: “What advice would you provide to someone trying to start a label or to become a recording artist?”

Birdman: “Study your craft …. Know your business …. Stay focused, stay humble, always put God first …. Try to start the same way you finished …. Be prepared to die for what you believe in. It’s simple.”

Bryan “Baby/Birdman” Williams was in Los Angeles pushing his new biographical documentary during his birthday. Today, it was released exclusively on Apple Music.

The viewing was held on Thursday, February 15th at NeueHouse – a private community of leading entrepreneurs and creative teams. As we sipped on champagne and awaited the ‘Number 1 Stunna’ to introduce the opening instalment of a three-part series during his birthday, we were constantly reminded by the mere presence of security that we could be in for a ride. Over the last 21 years, Birdman has lead an army of hip hop prodigies, including Lil Wayne and Nicki Minaj. For decades, financial rumors and controversy surrounded Cash Money Records and we were hoping to find some answers. The initial episode delves into the CEO’s dark past from losing his mother at an early age to slanging drugs which in the end leads to incarceration. Throughout, we start to understand the attributes of how one becomes one of the most successful rap moguls of our time. His father was a former military man with a pile of small businesses in some of New Orleans’ seedier areas. He constantly hustled to keep his family fed with a roof over their heads. This boy “any means necessary” mentality trickled down onto his youngest child, which eventually contributed to him selling CDs out of his trunk and helming one of the most prolific indie labels in the world, Cash Money Records.

Before Anythang: The Story Behind The Cash Money Records Empire doesn’t disappoint; however, it may leave some leery as it was created by its star, sprinkled with his personal narratives, which could come across as being slightly contrived.

Nevertheless, this piece of work has earned a spot on our ‘360 Watch List,’ especially since we gain an insightful introspective into the life of Birdman.
