Check out the video HERE.

“Shot Clock” marks the third official single from her album, Ella Mai. AJAY MATHUR

Drops New Video for Bluesy R&B Hit
“Time For Deliverance”

Off His Latest LP “Little Boat”, The Grammy Nominated Singer/Songwriter Who Recently Won “Best Album of the Year” at the 36th Annual German Rock & Pop Awards Has Released Latest Fan Video Collaboration

Following his last release ‘My Wallet is a House of Cards’ off the 2018 album “Little Boat”, Singer/Songwriter Ajay Mathur has debuted his latest collaborative fan video effort of 2019 – “Time For Deliverance”!

WATCH: Ajay Mathur “Time For Deliverance” Official Video

Crafted from the vibrant art and design of director/animator Mertcan Mertbilek from Istanbul (who previously worked on the video for Mathur’s “Little Boat” single), the video is a uniquely visual. Portraying animated paintings from Mathur singing to beautifully enlivened surfers riding waves, palm trees, beach and boardwalk scenes which beautifully counter the bluesy feel of the song and lyrical refrain “It’s my time for deliverance no I ain’t giving up on love” with vibrant color.

“Time For Deliverance is a beautifully crafted tune. This time Mathur pulls in some R&B and jazz influences, weaving a soulful sax with backing vocals. Both play off his clear and straightforward vocals. The song fulfills the theme of Little Boat, ‘It’s time for my deliverance, I ain’t giving up on love.’ Very nicely done.” – Kath Galasso, Onstage Magazine

“Time For Deliverance is an epic jam laced with some amazingly sweet brass which puts on full display Ajay’s ability to seamlessly switch genres while staying true to his core sound.” -Joshua “J.SMo” Smotherman, Mid Tennessee Music

“Time for Deliverance blends soul and R&B elements into an oozing, sticky tune smoldering with dark sensuality.” – Randall Radic, Blogcritics

Little Boat, Ajay Mathur’s newest album, was launched on its maiden voyage in the usual way in spring of this year. Quickly picked up by playlists and fans, the music and the album’s message of resilience has resonated with listeners and critics alike. Unlike previous projects, though, Little Boat has taken on a life of its own, picking up unexpected passengers along the way.

Independent of each other, diverse digital artists from around the globe including from Istanbul and Warsaw as well as an Argentinean in Los Angeles, heard a call and felt compelled to add some valuable cargo to Little Boat’s journey. The result is a colourful, complex and highly-imaginative work of animated accompaniments to Ajay’s songs.

The first of these, released earlier this year, is a quirky psychedelic and vibrant tribute to the title song ‘Little Boat’, composed by the young Turkish artist Mertcan Mertbilek. The next to be released was a provocative animated video to the stomping blues rocker ‘My Wallet is a House of Cards’. The images were inspired by the rebellious spirit of the song and depict a ruthless caricature of consumption and an increasingly indebted society. This stunning video was created by Argentine artist Ciro Ayala, who lives and works in Los Angeles. More videos are in the works and will hit the waves in the coming months.

Video artists are not the only passengers that have hopped on Little Boat’s journey. Besides the digital treasures, an illustrated children’s book by a writer in Delhi, India as well as a full-length novel weaving through the themes in Little Boat by an American living in Switzerland are in the works.

It is plain to see that Little Boat has left ripples in its wake, touching people at every port along the way. Rarely does an album inspire this kind of organic response and like any true adventure on the open seas, it is impossible to tell which way the winds will blow next. This music has opened up a whole new route on unchartered waters. Batten down the hatches because this Little Boat is on course to explore new and uncharted worlds.

Having recently won “Best Album of the Year” at Germany’s 36th Annual Rock & Pop Awards 2018, it’s no wonder fans and critics alike are craving more unique collaborative works from Ajay Mathur. And with his latest video for “Time For Deliverance”, they get just that.

Little Boat, which was given its final touches at the iconic Abbey Road Studios in London, is available in digital formats for download and streaming, as well as physical vinyl and compact disc album formats.

TYLER JACOB Q×A

When did you realize that you wanted to be an artist/fashionista?

All my life I’ve had an attraction to doing things in a different way. I never wanted to look like someone else, never wanted to share my fashion secrets or my music because I had attached so much emotion in creating whatever piece it was or if were music it would never just be a song, for me. I was never like my friends and for a while that was a struggle for me internally. Sometimes I would even sacrifice my own desires to wear certain pieces in order to skip out on the ‘reading’ sessions. That still didn’t stop me from trying it sometimes though, I remember I would go to the nearest arts and crafts store which for me was ‘Michaels’ (laughs) and would go crazy getting little things to add to my clothes to make them different but then I would also go to Sam Ash, the Virgin Music Store, Guitar Center and I would feel like I was in heaven. No matter what, fashion and music have always been my life. Like I could sit in these stores for the rest of my life and be okay. That’s how much I loved creating and these stores gave me all the tools I needed.

I have always been a magnet to everything that dealt with the arts. But my biggest passion was singing and even though I’ve been singing since the age of 5, I didn’t know that I wanted to pursue being a singer until my 9th grade year in high school. This is why after graduating I ran straight to NYC all by lonesome (giggles) to pursue music. I was way to young to be running off to the Big Apple as a teen with a part time job at the GAP, making minimum wage. New York City was a monster and I’m not going to lie it almost ate me alive. But only after 6 months of being there, thankfully, so many doors opened for me and it was an amazing feeling to be carefree and pursue music with no walls or barriers. NYC was giving me all the life and opportunities needed in order to grind and continue to grind even when I had not a dollar to my name and had to sing on the train with my friends for food. That part never made me feel sad because I never knew how ‘low’ I was because I never had LOW thoughts, I knew that where I was, was temporary and only for the sole purpose of learning the lessons needed to be successful and to grow and to evolve. Crazy thing is I never felt bad for it, it felt so good to grind for my money while doing what I love. I looked at singing on the trains as my stage per say for that chapter in my life. Today, I have experienced so many different things which I won’t even dive into but it has given me a different appreciation for life.

As of late, I am in the studio recording my album and will be performing in Manhattan, Monday, February at 7PM
Rockwood Music Hall, Stage 1.

What inspired your new album?

I had a full album done and ready to go and visuals that my fiancé (Michael Mann) had helped me out with for my release but after the tragedy that happened I no longer connected to the old music. I have so much more to say and so much pinned up aggression that I knew my only healthy escape would be to express it on my debut album. Which will be entitled, Steven my birth name.

It symbolizes me going back to my roots to find myself again.

How’s life after losing a loved one?

Life after losing a loved one has been very up and down for me. As of recent, I’ve drowned myself in work because I know that is where I’m safest right now. When you know yourself and you want better you keep yourself away from danger. Right now dead time is danger for me so I’m always moving. My heart is in constant pain but I’m learning to live with it. It is a battle I have yet to conquer but I know with time I’ll be fine.

Melii Releases “See Me”

Harlem-based singer/songwriter/rapper Melii has shared her new track See Me” and its accompanying video. Released via Rule#1/Interscope Records, “See Me” showcases the up-and-coming artist’s hypnotic delivery, bilingual vocal skills, and unapologetic lyrics.

With its video directed by Kristen White, “See Me” finds Melii bringing her signature raw honesty to a sparse and soulful R&B stunner. Set against a laid-back beat and slow-burning groove, the 20-year-old artist’s vocals shift from warm and vulnerable to hypnotically fierce, again proving her powerful charisma as a performer and songwriter.

“See Me” arrives on the heels of “Como Si Na,” an all-Spanish hip-hop ballad released in September. Hailed by Vibe as a “certified banger,” “Como Si Na” landed on a “5 Songs You Need to Listen to This Week” from TIME magazine (who noted that Melii is “just as comfortable flexing her attitude as a rapper and modulating her vocals with care, turning the track into an infectious display of her talent”).

Melii’s recent releases also include “La Envidia Mata,” that Rolling Stone praised a “sledgehammer of a single.”

Due out soon, Melii’s debut project Phases is a narrative-based exploration of her past, from the painful memories to the major triumphs that ultimately led to her breakout success. Since first gaining attention with her bilingual remix of Cardi B’s “Bodak Yellow,” Melii has drawn acclaim for singles like “Icey (Spanish Remix)” (named “one of the year’s starkest rap hits” by Jon Caramanica of the New York Times). She’s alsoearned admiration from Billboard, who stated that “Every few years, a new artist emerges from Harlem, ready to take on the rap world…In 2018, that spotlight belongs to Melii.”

Jacquees Proclaims Himself “King Of R&B”

In a viral social media post last week, platinum-certified Atlanta singer Jacquees confidently crowned himself the “King of R&B”…

of His Generation.

He continually gives props to the genre forbearers and his formative inspirations such as JodeciK-Ci & JoJo, Jagged Edge, Michael Jackson, Boys II Men and more, but he’s holding it down for his era.

Clarifying his ambition, he went so far as to tell Vibe“It’s no disrespect to nobody because they’re all my friends, but I still wanna be number one. If we’re playing the game and I lose, I’ll be mad as hell, but I’m still a good person. I just want to win.

Now, this claim sparked an internet-wide debate, inciting responses by everyone from John Legend and R. Kelly to TankUsherTyrese, and countless others. As a result, the newly minted royal star dominated the conversation and headlines.

He backs up that claim with “Presidential”—the latest single from his collaborative album alongside Birdman, Lost At Sea 2, out now. The music video for “Presidential” lives up to its title as a regal display of high-class and high-level flash. It has already generated 1.5 million YouTube/VEVO views in addition to racking up 1 million-plus Spotify streams. Watch it HERE.

2018 closes as a banner year for Jacquees. Vibe described his full-length debut, 4275, as “glowing,” while its latest single “You” just eclipsed 10 million Spotify streams and 10 million YouTube/VEVO views. Not to mention, the album banger remains a Top 10 hit at Urban Radio. Stefan James “Nights Like” EP

Today, rising R&B/Soul vocalist, songwriter and producer STEFAN JAMES unveils his debut EP, Nights Like.

Get it HERE via Republic Records!

Nights Like follows the release of his debut single, “Situation.” The video premiered exclusively via COMPLEX. The EP also features three additional tracks, “Temptation,” “God Damn” and “He’ll Never Know.” Beyond “Situation,” the singer’s mesmerizing falsetto powers the likes of “God Damn” and the sultry “He’ll Never Know.” A tryst between soul and alternative, STEFAN’s emotive delivery and confessional lyricism bring honesty and heart to R&B.

Of the EP, STEFAN says, “The EP is about nights without self-control, loving the moment and then hating myself after. The songs were inspired by the internal struggle of leaving one addiction for another. Searching for the poison that makes the antidote.”

21-year-old STEFAN JAMES’ music and lyrics pull from a life marred by tragic events, including battles with addiction and substance abuse, as well as the tragic loss of his older brother. Stefan turned to music to lead him on his road to recovery. Creating music enabled him to share this pain productively and poetically. “I’ve been there,” Stefan says, speaking to all who are dealing with depression, loss or addiction. “When you’re feeling down, just put a couple of my songs on and cry or smile. Whatever you have to do to get through that moment. You’re not alone.”

SG Lewis New 5-Track Project ‘Dark’ Out Now

Today, songwriter, producer and multi-instrumentalist SG Lewis releases the highly-anticipated new five-track project ‘Dark’ via Casablanca/Republic Records. The new record serves as the second chapter of his upcoming three-part concept album Dusk, Dark, Dawn, which chronicles the trajectory of a night out through its different moods and genres and serves as a tribute to club and youth culture.

While Dusk (released earlier this year) blended disco, smooth electro and funk, the second chapter in the trilogy Dark explores distinctly heavier yet still diverse sounds. Nowhere is this more present than in latest single ‘Again’, which sees SG collaborate with Totally Enormous Extinct Dinosaurs to create a euphoric slice of deep-house. In stark contrast, previous single ‘A.A.T’ is a skittering, bass-laden trap/R&B crossover featuring Drew Love of acclaimed American hip-hop duo THEY, while new EP track ‘Release’, a collaboration with London Grammar’s Dot Major, is a driving, blissed-out bass groove. Further collaborations on Dark include lead single ‘Hurting (feat. AlunaGeorge), which was Clara Amfo’s ‘Track Of The Week’ and topped the iTunes electronic chart, as well as ‘Dreaming’, featuring North London singer/songwriter Bruno Major. SG has previously collaborated with Col3trane, Raye, Ray BLK, The Neptunes’ Chad Hugo, Gerd Janson, Conducta and more as well as producing Dave’s ‘100M’s’ proving his worth as a producer not limited to any genre or style.

It’s been an incredible twelve months for SG that has seen him sell out an expansive run of dates in Europe, Australia, Asia and North America, including two nights in NYC, Toronto, Chicago and LA.

Following his recent massive US tour, SG brings his live show back to Europe for a string of dates starting in late November including Bristol and Manchester shows and culminating in a special sold-out headline show at London Printworks on December 7th.
