OXYGEN PRESENTS “MANSON: THE WOMEN” PREMIERING SATURDAY, AUGUST 10 AT 7PM ET/PT

Oxygen, the destination for high-quality crime programming, debuts “Manson: The Women”on Saturday, August 10 at 7pm ET/PT. To understand exactly how one of the most daunting madmen in history charmed his way into the lives of the women who formed his family, this compelling two-hour special takes a deep dive into their psyche through the lens of the counterculture movement that swept the 1960s. Nearly 50 years since one of the most notorious killing sprees in America rocked the nation, questions surrounding the illusive Manson Family remain. Perhaps most daunting was the notion that Manson could incite such bloodshed without physically executing his own plan. In an era where free love fueled the proliferation of counterculture communes, most of Manson’s loyal followers were young women from middle-class backgrounds whose own home lives did not bring them solace and, instead, pushed them to find acceptance elsewhere. This, coupled with Manson’s inflammatory us-vs-the world teachings, ignited a sense of belonging within the women and inadvertently paved the way for their leader’s stronghold. Input from former legal analyst and federal prosecutor Lis Wiehl, as well as additional researchers and experts on the family, breaks down the level of control and manipulation – psychological, physical, emotional – that took over the lives of these vibrant young women.

Comcast Announces Agreements With AFRO And CLEO TV

Comcast Corporation today announced it has selected two new African American majority owned independent networks to be broadly distributed on Comcast Cable systems beginning in January 2019.  After a thorough evaluation of dozens of proposals, Comcast selected AFRO and CLEO TV, both of which will provide quality entertainment that highlights and features TV and movie content about African American and black communities.

“The offerings from both AFRO and CLEO TV serve as an excellent complement to the growing catalog of programming choices we offer about global black communities,” said Keesha Boyd, Executive Director, Multicultural Products at Comcast Cable. “We remain committed to delivering a wide array of programming by partnering with independent networks, such as the two we’re announcing today, to better serve our increasingly diverse customer base.”

AFRO, a channel from Afrotainment, is a 24-hour polycultural black network mainly broadcasting top-rated Nollywood and black movies, dramas, sitcoms, music, talk, and late night comedy shows.

“We are excited to bring AFRO’s live content and growing on demand catalog of more than 300 hours of original programming to millions of Xfinity customers. Comcast’s selection of AFRO, which is a recognition of the rich diversity in black content and culture, solidifies our position as a leader in polycultural black home entertainment in North America,” said Yves Bollanga, Founder and CEO of Afrotainment.

CLEO TV is a lifestyle and entertainment network targeting Millennial and Gen X women of color.  Derived from the name Cleopatra, one of the most powerful, trendsetting, rule-breaking and iconic women in history, CLEO TV will offer quality content that defies negative and cultural stereotypes of today’s modern women.  The network promises a unique and diverse offering of short-form and long-form content including travel, home design, cooking, talk shows, movies, docu-series, sitcoms and much more.

To narrow down the proposals received, the main criteria Comcast considered were: the content of the network; whether the network is fully financed; whether the network’s ownership and/or management group(s) are well established, have relevant experience, and are substantially owned by African Americans; whether the network is already launched and has existing or potential multichannel video programming distributor (MVPD) distribution; price; and whether the network and its potential carriage provide value to Comcast and its customers.

AFRO and CLEO TV will join over 100 diverse networks available across Xfinity platforms, which offered over 14,000 hours of diverse on demand and online programming in 2017. In 2011, as part of Comcast’s commitments made in connection with the NBCUniversal transaction, Comcast agreed to launch 10 new independently owned and operated networks by 2019, including eight that are minority-owned or -operated.  Six minority-owned networks have already launched, including BabyFirst Americas (2012), El Rey (2013), Kids Central (2017), and Primo TV (2017) which are primarily Hispanic American owned and operated; and ASPiRE (2012) and REVOLT (2013) which are majority African American owned. AFRO and CLEO TV will be the next two networks to launch as part of this commitment.

But as Jennifer’s youngest child is about to enter school, Jennifer finds herself ready to break out of her traditional role as homemaker and mother, challenging the roles she and her husband have subscribed to for their entire relationship. And when Jennifer helps to arrange her brother Michael’s marriage to a family friend in Turkey, she is unprepared for the backlash she faces from some of the ladies who find it difficult to accept her less than modern ways.

Jackie Goldschneider

As a mother of two sets of twins under the age of 10, Jackie Goldschneider’s hands are completely full at all times. Worried about raising her children in a privileged home, she is determined that they grow up as strong and self-sufficient individuals. Jackie is a former real estate attorney but has recently found passion in her new career as a parent blogger. Being friends with Margaret already, Jackie is totally ready to connect with a new group of women and start giving them advice, which may not go as well as she plans.

DreamWorks Animation Television has added a panel for OSCAR® winner Guillermo del Toro’s highly-anticipated Netflix original series DreamWorks Tales of Arcadia: 3Below to the studio’s exciting New York Comic Con 2018 line up.

Creator and executive producer del Toro, alongside series star Diego Luna, and fellow executive producers Rodrigo Blaas, Marc Guggenheim and Chad Hammes, are set to provide a first look inside the upcoming Netflix original series DreamWorks Tales of Arcadia: 3Below, the second chapter in the DreamWorks Tales of Arcadia trilogy. Fans of the 7 time Emmy®-winning Trollhunters can expect to find several familiar faces in 3Below when two royal teenage aliens, Krel (Luna) and Aja, and their bodyguard flee a surprise takeover of their home planet by an evil dictator and crash land in Arcadia.

Bravo’s New Series “Get a Room With Carson & Thom”

On Tuesday, May 1 at 9pm ET/PT, strong emotions persist as Dorit and Teddi struggle to sort out a year of misunderstandings. Kyle reveals the devastating details of her house burglary last Christmas. Then, Camille Grammer joins the ladies and brings an unexpected gift for Andy. And Lisa Vanderpump finds herself in the hot seat when she defends her reaction to Dorit’s betrayal.

As the reunion concludes On Tuesday, May 8 at 9pm ET/PT, Andy explores the reasons behind Lisa Vanderpump’s fall-out with Dorit. As the ladies relive their trip to Berlin, they question why Lisa Vanderpump was so upset with Kyle for not remembering her grandmother’s name. Kyle gets emotional when discussing her sisters’ lack of support around her new projects. All the while, Teddi and Erika confront each other over “pretend amnesia.”

Following the three-part reunion, the network will air a “Secrets Revealed” special On Tuesday, May 15 at 8pm ET/PT, which will feature never-before-seen footage of “The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills.”

Jimmy Fallon and Tarik “Black Thought” Trotter from The Roots just announced they’ll be visiting Philadelphia on Tuesday, April 17 and want to try a home-cooked meal from one lucky family.
