YFL KELVIN FEATURED IN DEF JAM’S UNDISPUTED COMPILATION, OUT MARCH 8TH

READ “HOW DEF JAM PLANS TO RECLAIM ITS HIP-HOP CROWN” ON BILLBOARD.COM

“Cleveland is on the map in a big way… YFL Kelvin is certainly in the conversation of one of the most refined sound behind his ability to channel his come-up story.”

“YFL Kelvin is an Cleveland based emcee who has been battling adversities his whole life but his musical talent is about to change everything for him.”

ABOUT YFL KELVIN

For YFL Kelvin, hip-hop is the soundtrack to his struggle. “My story is rags to riches,” the 21-year-old explains. The Cleveland native has found solace in music since his father was gunned down—in an accidental shooting—when he was just five. Kelvin began recording out of his home studio, but music was secondary to the lure of the streets, taking his rap name from his biological father and the aspirational acronym “Young, Flashy, Lifestyle.”

The street life landed him behind bars on three occasions, “My little brother is in jail. Like, everybody who I used to be with is in jail.” No matter the tribulation, it doubled as a sonic inspiration. In 2016, his beef with a former friend sparked his first major release, “Mayweather Freestyle.” “I knew I was destined then. Something good was going to play out from all the tragedy that I’ve been through.”

2018’s “NASDAQ” would be the rocket that’d catapult Kelvin beyond Cleveland, released on YouTube the hit song has generated over 300k views. The remix with Moneybagg Yo will lead Kelvin’s first project, Out of Here.

Moneybagg Yo and YoungBoy Never Broke Again Unite On Fed Baby’s Mixtape

Memphis rapper Moneybagg Yo and Baton Rouge rapper YoungBoy Never Broke Again have teamed up for Fed Baby’s, out today on N-Less Entertainment/ Never Broke Again LLC., distributed by Interscope Records. Fed Baby’s is available now at all DSPs HERE.

As told by Moneybagg Yo, the two rappers first worked together when Moneybagg was sent a song to add a verse to while YoungBoy Never Broke Again was serving a prison sentence earlier this year. Moneybagg hopped on the song and continued to hold YoungBoy down while he was incarcerated. After completing his sentence, the two connected on FaceTime and decided to work on a project together. The majority of the 14 song project was recorded during a week long session in Atlanta. The two then headed to LA to complete the final tracks.

Moneybagg Yo “The chemistry between us was natural. We come from the same place, just two different sides of the world. We both come from struggle so it’s easy to relate.”

The project comes on the heels of a whirlwind year for both breakout rappers. Moneybagg Yo’s Federal 3X, released on August 11, debuted at #5 on the Billboard 200 albums chart and has amassed over 120k in consumption units. The mixtape earned critical acclaim from The New York Times, praising Moneybagg Yo for “blend[ing] the tough and the comic with an intuitive gift for casually robust rhymes.” Meanwhile, Billboard noted that “Moneybagg’s ability to voice his harsh realities on paper is what makes him such an alluring act on the independent circuit.”

On August 4, current FADER cover star YoungBoy Never Broke Again, released Al YoungBoy, his first body of work since his release from prison which stands at over 198 million streams in the US. The mixtape landed at #2 on the iTunes Overall Albums chart and led The New York Times to call Youngboy Never Broke Again “one of the most promising young Southern rappers.” Currently on the road with 21 Savage for his Numb The Pain Tour, Rolling Stone featured YoungBoy Never Broke Again as one of their Artists You Need To Know For October 2017.

Described by The New York Times as his “impressive new mixtape” in which Moneybagg “blends the tough and the comic with an intuitive gift for casually robust rhymes,” and by Billboard as a mixtape that “tracks the expansive progression of Moneybagg,” Federal 3X arrives as the follow-up to Heartless, a February 2017 mixtape that’s now amassed over 126k units of consumption. Following the release of Heartless, XXL named Moneybagg Yo “one of the hottest rappers to look out for in 2017.”

With each lyric delivered in his murky Southern accent, Moneybagg Yo has built Federal 3X on head-nodding ad-libs and visceral depictions of street life. As he explains, the main mission of those lyrics is to encourage his fans to aspire for greatness. “My music motivates you,” Moneybagg Yo says. “It makes you get up and get to it. If you going through something, I’ll get you through your situation.”

Born Demario White on Memphis’s Southside, Moneybagg Yo is the latest addition to his hometown’s roster of veteran hip-hop talent (including artists like 8Ball & MJG, Three 6 Mafia, Yo Gotti, Playa Fly, and Al Kapone). With his stage moniker granted by a classmate, he began honing his lyrical delivery in high school and later invested all his minimal resources into developing his music.

In 2015 Moneybagg Yo made his debut with Federal, a mixtape released by the independent Memphis label N-Less Entertainment. Federal featured his breakout single “I Need a Plug,” which instantly becoming a regional hit. The following year, Moneybagg Yo had his sophomore release with a mixtape titled E.L.O. (Everybody Lives On).

Later in 2016, Moneybagg Yo released his third mixtape, All Gas No Brakes. Taking notice of his fast-rising momentum, Yo Gotti began managing Moneybagg Yo through his Collective Music Group management company. On Halloween of the same year, Yo Gotti and Moneybagg Yo released their collaborative mixtape, 2Federal.

“Everything I do is just federal,” he says. “I’m the voice of the streets. I’m gonna tell it like it is. That’s what the game been missing the whole time. You gotta touch people going through those situations.”
