On its 26th annual edition, the Rodeo Drive Concours d’Elegance show in partnership with O’Gara Coach and Bentley Beverly Hills, gathered the local community and supercar fans to celebrate Father’s Day with quintessential style.

In a dedicated area at the conjunction between Rodeo Drive and Wilshire Blvd, O’Gara displayed vehicles by Aston Martin, Bentley, Bugatti, Koenigsegg, McLaren, Lamborghini, Rimac and Rolls-Royce with crowds gathering around excited to get a closer look at the iconic cars.

Further, in celebration of Bentley’s 100 year anniversary, O’Gara and Bentley brought on display the British brand’s signature models including the Bentayga V8, Bentayga Hybrid, Muslanne W.O. Edition, Flying Spur V8S and special classics such as the Heritage 1991 Turbo R and 1952 S2.

During the event, attendees slow-walked their way through a maze made of Bentley Heritage, Aston Martin DB11, Lamborghini Huracan EVO, Rolls-Royce Phantom Cullinan, to then discover an eye-catching installation featuring McLaren GT, Rimac Concept 2, Koenigsegg and Bugatti Chiron in an array of colors.

To further enhance the voyeuristic car watching experience, O’Gara and Bentley Beverly Hills took over the Le Grand Trianon Ballroom at the famed Beverly Wilshire Hotel to host a VIP Hospitality Suite, where guests could enjoy rosé and scotch tastings and were given access to the Secret Rosé Garden on the rooftop terrace to observe the Concours’ spectacle from up above and take photos in front of the hotel’s exquisite garden flower wall.

Keeping in the spirit of Bentley’s anniversary, VIPs had the privilege of test driving the Bentley V8, Bentayga Speed and GTC W12 throughout the day, taking off from the Beverly Wilshire Hotel.

O’Gara Coach

On Sunday morning, high-end car dealership O’Gara Coach Beverly Hills hosted its second Sunset Granturismo of 2019, bringing LA’s car community together to enjoy a morning of cars and coffee at Sunset Plaza. To kick-off the summer days with a twist, O’Gara hosted a “Hypercars Takeover Edition”, spotlighting the Pininfarina Battista, Rimac Concept Two and Koenigsegg Jesko hypercars alongside classics from the O’Gara Coach family including Aston Martin, Bentley, Bugatti, Lamborghini, Ferrari, Maserati, McLaren, Rolls-Royce and more.

In celebration of the 100th anniversary of the Italian design house, Pininfarina, Sunset GT brought the 2020 Pininfarina Battista, the world’s first completely electric luxury hypercar with zero emissions. With a top speed of 250 MPH, it goes from zero to 62 in 1.9 seconds with 1900 HP. It has been recognized as the most powerful road-legal car ever designed and built in Italy.

Additionally, car lovers were given the opportunity to drink coffee and mingle while admiring the Rimac Concept Two, which is also an electric hypercar that goes from zero to 60 in 1.85 seconds and has 1900 HP with a top speed of 258 MPH. Among this lineup, guests also saw the Koenigsegg Jesko which runs on biofuel and has 1600 HP going at a top speed of 300 MPH.

Upon arrival, car enthusiasts were guided through a maze of 4 rows starting with 22 Aston Martin’s and a lineup of 30 Lamborghini’s in extravagant colorways including the Huracan Evo; moving into the hypercar section where the Koenigsegg Agera RS, Rimac, Jesko and Regera as well as the Pininfarina Battista were on display; down to 47 Ferrari’s, 6 Bentley’s including the new continental GTC and 8 Rolls Royce’s; through to 52 colorful and vintage Porsche’s, a rainbow of 31 McLaren’s including the Senna and GT4; and finally, a display of 400 hypercars across O’Gara Coach brands.

Sunset GT welcomed over 1000 spectators and a special appearance from musician Laura Wilde, hosted a live stream takeover on the Aston Martin Beverly Hills Instagram account.

GGBAILEY at the Geneva International Motor Show

The Geneva International Motor Show (GIMS) also known as the Geneva Auto Show wrapped up Sunday March 17th, and RACEMARK (GGBAILEY’s parent company) was there showcasing its lines of OEM-quality car mats and accessories. Highlights from the show included the plug-in hybrid Jeep Renegade, the TESLA Model S3 Station Wagon and the Bugatti Baby. Many of the stunning concept cars feature custom-designed car mats by RACEMARK.

A few of our favorite cars from the show:

  • Automobili Pininfarina Battista

  • Aston Martin Vanquish Vision

  • Tesla Model 3S Station Wagon

  • McLaren 720S Spider

  • Bugatti La Voiture Noire

Automobili Pininfarina Battista

It’s the most powerful street-legal car ever designed and built in Italy, and it’s electric. Powered by its Rimac electric powertrain, the new hyper EV produces 1874bhp from four electric motors and will get you to 186mph from a standing start in under 12 seconds. No more than 150 will be made, and the price is expected to be around 2.3 million dollars. The Automobili Pininfarina’s Battista has a top speed that exceeds 217mph, making it one of the fastest cars on the planet. RACEMARK created the custom car mats specially for this incredible concept car.

Aston Martin Vanquish Vision

The Aston Martin Vanquish Vision concept car is Aston Martin’s first mid-engined production supercar. Powered by a newly developed turbocharged V-6 engine,  this lightweight concept supercar built on a bonded aluminum structure was designed to give Ferrari and McLaren some fierce competition.

Tesla Model 3S Station Wagon

In sharp contrast to the supercars at the Geneva Motor Show, was a dark green station wagon. This one of a kind model, designed by Niels van Roij Design, was a Tesla Model S converted into a station wagon. Niels van Roij Design designed the wagon as a hatchback keeping a minimal side window profile and giving the resulting car a sleek look. Although it doesn’t have the cargo room of a traditional station wagon, it easily makes up for it with plenty of style.

McLaren 720S Spider

Unusually light and aerodynamic, the MSO 720S Spider features a unique paint job along key aerodynamic surfaces such as the front splitter, hood air intakes and side panels. It boasts a top speed is 212mph with the roof up and can go from 0-62 in just 2.9 seconds thanks to its twin-turbocharged 4.0-litre V8.

Bugatti La Voiture Noire

Bugatti’s new La Voiture Noire, costing a cool $12.5 million, pushes all the boundaries. Based on the Bugatti’s Chiron, ‘The Black Car’ demonstrates how the French hypercar company is shifting toward bespoke manufacturing to satisfy the world’s most powerful and imaginative car collectors.

2019 PIRELLI CALENDAR SHOT BY ALBERT WATSON

A photographic tale of the aspirations of four women and their determination to achieve their goals, each one pursuing her own dreams and passions. This is “Dreaming”, the 2019 Pirelli Calendar, now in its forty-sixth edition, shot by Albert Watson in April in Miami and New York and unveiled today at Pirelli Hangar Bicocca in Milan.

A sequence of forty shots tells the stories of characters portrayed by Gigi Hadid with Alexander Wang, Julia Garner, Misty Copeland with Calvin Royal III and Laetitia Casta with Sergei Polunin. The photographs, in color and black and white, are in the cinematic 16:9 format, inspired by Albert Watson’s passion for the art of film.

When I approached this project,” says Watson, “I wanted to do it in a way that was different from other photographers, and I wondered what the best way would be. In the end, I looked for pictures that were of beautiful quality, with depth to them, and that had some kind of narrative. I wanted to create something that was more than just a portrait of somebody – I wanted it to look like a film still. I wanted people looking at the Calendar to see that my aim was photography in its purest form, exploring the women I was photographing and creating a situation that would convey a positive vision of women today.”

Telling the story of how he came to make the Calendar (see the interview attached), the photographer talks of his own dreams, and of the efforts and sacrifices that they entailed.

To make a dream come true, you have to work hard. I’ve always taken it step by step, reaching one goal at a time, without wanting to get immediately to the top of the ladder. Even though I sometimes think this ladder could go on up forever, with the top rung ever-further away, I think it’s always worth giving yourself increasingly ambitious goals and dreams.”

He said that each of the four women focuses on the future and “has her own individuality, her own particular purpose in life, and her own way of doing things. So the underlying theme is that of ‘dreams’, but the basic idea behind the whole project is that of telling a story in four ‘little movies’. What I wanted to convey were the protagonists’ hopes and their way of thinking about the future, in a way that would bring with it the aspect of dreaming.

An example of this is the character played by Gigi Hadid, he explained. She has recently separated from her partner, lives alone in a glass tower and has Alexander Wang as her only friend and confidant: “I think there’s a degree of angst in these images. With Hadid’s character, I wanted to convey the sense of a woman thinking about her future, but also showing her in a situation of loneliness. We see her thinking about where she is going to go in life, what she will be doing tomorrow. I wanted it to be much more minimalistic than the other women and settings I photographed.

Julia Garner plays the part of a young photographer who loves nature and solitude. Of her, Watson says; “Julia’s a very, very accomplished actress and she got straight into the character. She played a botanical photographer who dreams of putting on successful exhibitions. We were in a beautiful tropical garden in Miami, which turned out to be the perfect place for us to work.”

Misty Copeland, whose partner in the Calendar is Calvin Royal III, also looks to the future, fantasizing about making a name for herself in the world of dance. “Trying to be successful is her driving force,” said Watson. “Copeland’s character earns her living by dancing in a club, but at the same time she has also put up a little stage in her garden, where she practices dancing in order to become a star, sometimes with her boyfriend, played by Calvin Royal III.

Lastly, Laetitia Casta is a painter who lives in a studio apartment with her partner, played by Sergei Polunin. They both dream of success: she as an artist, he as a dancer. “What’s interesting”, says Watson, “is that, in real life, Laetitia really does do a lot of sculpting and creates artwork in her spare time. This worked out very well and helped her get into character. We decided to shoot outside, to give the scenes some added natural brightness. The tropical atmosphere of Miami is a key component in this picture.

Lexus UX, Vaughn Lowery, 360 MAGAZINE, Amazon headquarters, Seattle

LEXUS UX

By Alexandria Baiz × Vaughn Lowery

As of late, 360 Magazine had the opportunity to join Lexus in Seattle for an intimate ride and drive of their wholly-new UX SUV at the newly reimagined luxurious Loews Hotel 1000. This seaport city is home to both tech giants Microsoft and Amazon. With Lexus’s innovative track record for having unparalleled technology within their cabin, it was befitting that they brought us to the home of the Space Needle. Subsequently, this town is known to think outside of the box.

The 2019 Lexus UX takes a step into the future of modern luxury with its two most affordable and compact SUVs – the UX 200 and UX 250h. UX stands for urban crossover (x-over). The UX 200 will be released in December 2018 starting at $32,000 and the UX 250h will be released in January 2019 for around $34,000. Gearing towards an opulent compact car with an exterior design so specific, the UX has a signature three-dimensional shape that makes it different from its siblings.

The front has brow-shaped LED lights with optional ultra-small 3-projector LED units. Across the back of the boot, are an innovative wrap of three-dimensional LED lights which help with stability on the highways – a standout design element on the UX. The structure is built to mold into an everyday vehicle that is stable, perfect for urban use because it’s small and easy to park. We had no problem squeezing to the front of the Bainbridge ferry.

The 18″ 5-spoke aluminum alloy dark gray metallic wheels are proportional to the overall aesthetics of the vehicle. Available in a variety of twelve exterior colors, two of which are exclusive to the UX F Sport – Cadmium Orange and Nori Green. The Cadmium Orange includes a cherry base with yellow lowlights, making it appear vivid and adding tons of depth. Nori Green possesses bright highlights and dark contrast alongside of calm shades, drawing the color brilliant. Both of these colors are newfangled and daring for the Lexus brand.

The F Sport package is available in both the UX 200 and UX 250h model as well as has enhanced features and style which contributes to its name. This option comes in the two colors – Ultra White and Ultrasonic Blue Mica 2.0. The F Sport performance is exceptional, transforming the UX into a bespoke-like designer car with front sports seats, grille design, and jet-black trim.

The concept of UX stems from the versatility and adaptability this vehicle offers. With a seamless interior coupled with the Japanese concept of engawa offers a richer field of vision. Executed with a high-strength structure, placement of sound absorbing and insulating materials throughout, one can enjoy an extremely quiet ride.

The connection between driver and the vehicle is apparent with the “seat-in-control” concept. Entering and exiting is made easy with hip-point bottom cushions. 8-way power driver seats (including lunbar) allows the driver to operate with a comfortable yet natural posture.

All UX models are fabricated to ensure safety while driving. The Pre-Collision System alerts drivers of pedestrians, cyclists and other vehicles with a forward-facing camera and radar system. The LSS+ 2.0 system enhances this with specific light detection for different hours of the day. If the Pre-Collision System detects a high possibility of collision, an audio and visual alert will prompt the driver to take action. If the driver does not break at that point, the system may automatically apply brakes to help mitigate impacts. Dynamic Radar Cruise Control maintains a preset distance and operates between 0 to 110 mph. The Lane Departure Alert is extremely helpful with the Multi-Information Display (MID) the system can use forward-facing cameras to detect colored land marking illustrations. If the driver deviates from a visibly marked lane, the system alerts the driver with an audio and visual alert. In addition, the UX has an Electric Power Steering and Steering Assist. The Road Sign Assist can read a variety of traffic signs and will display them on the vehicle’s MID. Furthermore, Parking Support Brake uses braking control and visual warnings to reduce possible contact with moving objects while parking.

This Lexus is extraordinary with its high definition, intuitive technology, and overall performance. The UX includes a standard 7″ TFT (thin-film-transistor) LCD control panel while the UX F Sport features an 8″ TFT LCD panel design with a movable meter ring. By pressing a switch on the steering wheel, it moves to the right, enlarging the multi-information display. With the Lexus Remote Touch Interface, the 2019 UX feels as familiar as a smartphone. The most impressive tech feature is Amazon’s “Alexa” – which immediately connects you to play music; find directions; open your garage door on a rainy day; lock/unlock from a smart device and amongst other things control the lights in your home. The Lincoln Navigator is the only other vehicle in Northern America which offers Alexa. Moreover, additional driver connectivity features include Apple CarPlay, 4GB Wi-Fi Hotspot, Voice recognition for commands and the SiriusXM. The heads-up display allows drivers to focus more on the road and less on the infotainment unit.

The UX complies with the global trend of efficient gas mileage vehicles – UX 200 at 33 mpg (2.0- liter inline four-cylinder engine, similar to competitors but with less under-hood heat and lower weight for better vehicle balance). The UX 250h at 39 mpg, making it the wave of their next generation of hybrids. With 181 hp, the UX 250h is the fuel-efficient leader with the best-combined mpg of any CUV and/or SUV without a plugin NA.

In short, the Lexus UX 200 and UX 250h is a shoo-in for a ‘xennial’ buyer – a person who grew up in an analog environment and can easily adapt to present-day’s digital society. Just think of all of your friends and family members with a recent graduate degree or higher residing in a metropolis. Most likely they have a high appreciation for the arts and take local trips within their surrounding area with one or more cronies and a small lap dog in tow.
