INTRODUCING LIL POPPA’S NEW SINGLE “MAN OF THE YEAR” OUT NOW! LISTEN ON ALL PLATFORMS HERE

NEW PROJECT UNDER INVESTIGATION 2 — OUT THIS SPRING!

With his powerful wordplay and soulful storytelling, Lil Poppa turns each of his songs into an up-close account of life in his hometown of Jacksonville, FL. Today the dynamite young talent has released the first offering off his upcoming new project Under Investigation 2 (out this Spring) — a powerful anthem in “Man of The Year.”

LISTEN TO “MAN OF THE YEAR” by LIL POPPA

At just 18-years-old, Lil Poppa has already drawn major attention for tracks like “Purple Hearts” — an independent release that’s organically amassed over 2.6 million YouTube views, all on the strength of Poppa’s straight-from-the-heart delivery and hard-hitting lyrics. Signed by Interscope’s Executive Vice President Joie Manda, this new signing further cements the company’s proven track record in breaking exciting new rap artists; “Natural talent spotlights itself, and with Poppa’s raw talent and unwavering mission to get his message out — there seems to be no stopping Poppa’s undeniable rise. He’s one to watch,” adds Joie.

Poppa began rapping each week at church, joining a group of friends and sharing rhymes with a spiritual bent. At age 12, he built a makeshift studio in his closet and started self-recording with a laptop and Radio Shack microphone. With a string of mixtapes under his belt, Poppa made his breakthrough with a pair of singles from 2018: “Nightmare on Elm St.” and “Purple Hearts,” whose cinematic video revealed the real-life story behind the song.”

Cyber Florida Publishes Free Cybersecurity Guide

Cyber Florida is pleased to announce the launch of Cyber Defense for SMBs, a free resource for small and medium-sized businesses. This beginner’s guide introduces readers to the fundamentals of cybersecurity for business to help SMBs be better prepared to respond to, and recover from, cyberattacks. Cyber Defense for SMBs is available as a free digital download at https://www.cyberflorida.org/SMB.

“Small businesses are targeted by cybercriminals precisely because they are small,” remarked Cyber Florida Director Sri Sridharan. “Criminals know these businesses likely lack the financial resources necessary to employ state-of-the-art cyber defenses. Our goals with this guide are to help Florida’s small businesses avoid becoming victims of this troubling trend and if they are targeted, to help them be better prepared to recover and respond appropriately,” he said.

The 2018 Verizon Data Breach Investigations Report stated that 58% of data breach victims in 2017 were categorized as small businesses.

With input from experts in academia, private industry, government, and the military, this guide offers guidance to help SMBs identify the most cost-effective cybersecurity best practices for their business. Detailing some of the most important and urgent factors affecting cybersecurity, Cyber Defense for SMBs reviews the common threats SMBs are likely to encounter and industry-standard best practices for cyberattack prevention and mitigation, crisis management, and post-incident response.

In support of this effort, Cyber Florida has teamed up with the National Cyber Security Alliance to offer free workshops throughout the state of Florida that will provide SMB leaders with hands-on guidance. Workshops are planned for Tampa, Orlando, Miami, Jacksonville, and Tallahassee during the first quarter of 2019. For more details and to register for a workshop, please visit https://www.cyberflorida.org/SMB.

Accompanying this initiative is a resource-rich webpage, www.cyberflorida.org/SMB, that offers planning and assessment worksheets and links to other helpful organizations and resources. The webpage will be updated often with tips and articles to help SMB leaders stay abreast of best practices, as cybersecurity is a rapidly changing field.

Cyber Florida Director Sri Sridharan is available for press interviews. To schedule an interview, please contact Kate Whitaker at the email or phone listed above. For all other inquiries or questions, visit the Cyber Florida website at www.cyberflorida.org.

SambaFunk! Perform at Senator Kamala Harris for President 2020 Campaign Rally

Bay Area artscollective SambaFunk! performed Sunday, January 27th as part of the Senator Kamala Harris for President 2020 Campaign Rally in Oakland.

Theo Aytchan Williams, Samba Funk! Artistic Director said, “We are beyond honored to have been invited to participate in this historic moment in time by performing at the Senator Harris for President Campaign Rally.”

The group recently released a new version of the classic “Lift Every Voice & Sing” to coincide with Black History Month in February and to celebrate the song’s 120th Anniversary.

“Lift Every Voice and Sing” often referred to as the “Black National Anthem”, was originally written as a poem in 1899 by James Weldon Johnson to be recited by 500 students at the Stranton School in Jacksonville, Florida as a welcoming poem to educator Booker T. Washington in commemorate of Abraham Lincoln’s birthday. It was later put to music by John Rosamond Johnson and adopted as the Black National Anthem by the NAACP.

The SambaFunk! version of “Lift Every Voice & Sing” comes on the 120th anniversary of the song being written in hopes that the new release will shine a light on the Black Experience and ignite a sense of pride among Black and oppressed people worldwide. Historically music often plays a significant role in bringing people together for positive change. The group hopes this song evokes conversations between Americans of all backgrounds.

Williams said, “2019 is the perfect time for the message of this monumental work to be heard around the world to help raise our collective consciousness and present a living example of how music can play a significant role in unification.”

Many are already celebrating the song and its goodwill message including several NBA teams who will be performing the song as part of their Black History Month presentations.

Samba Funk! will also be seen in the EPIX documentary series, Elvis Goes There on February 11th with host film critic Elvis Mitchell, performing “Lift Every Voice & Sing”.

Mastered in the world-renowned Bernie Grundman studio in Hollywood, the song was released Martin Luther King Jr. weekend, January 20th and is available wherever music is sold and streamed.

After releasing the Shameless EP onCapitol Recordslast fall, Striking Matches toured North America and Europe with JOHNNYSWIM. The Tampa Bay Times said, “Striking Matches are both an amazing acoustic songwriting duo and a pair of bluesy electrifying performers…Their voices vibrantly bounce off each other to fun harmonies, most notably in ‘Medicine,’ a song that got the crowd singing along almost immediately.”

Shameless, which was produced by Kennedy Karate (Børns), follows the duo’s 2015 debut album, Nothing But The Silence, which has racked up more than 10 million cumulative streams worldwide.
