Since its inception in 2013, the Jaguar F-Type has been responsible for revolutionizing the sports car industry. With it’s obnoxious exhaust and robust styling, this has come to be one of the most sensual vehicles in the chronicle of the automobile industry.

Design

Reminiscent of an Aston Martin Vantage roadster, this vehicle is sleek and seductive. Caldera red exterior with scarlet red interior. The race-inspired seats cup your derrière with the same type of firmness which NFL players display once a teammate makes a touchdown. Everything along the dashboard is loaded and takes on a minimalist approach to decadence. Contrast stitching intertwined with ambient cabin lighting pushes the driver’s vision. You literally feel like you’re in the cockpit of a fighter jet. LED designer head and tail lamps add a touch of menace to the overall skeleton. 20″ inch wheels on this vehicle’s small frame screams Matchbox hot rod. The infamous R package is badged on the front, sides and back. The skirt, ground effects and active spoiler (which deploys at 70mph) give it an aggressive stance.

Technology

The F Type 10″ infotainment screen is bright and easy to use. With Bluetooth and navigation capabilities, permits the driver to feel even more linked up. 380 watt Meridian stereo system provides a premium sound which mimics an Arclight movie theater experience. Retractable vents on the instrument panel go flush once AC/heating is turned off. The climate control package comes with heated/cooled seats, heated steering wheel and windshield. For 2020, Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, and front parking sensors are now standard on this manikin.

Safety

With adequate sensors for the driver, lane departure and cruise control keep the vehicle tucked in between the lines of road every bit well as ample space away from vehicles while on extended road trips.

Performance

Behind the wheel of this enthusiast’s ride is a dream come true. The sports seats are outstanding for long distances. The 3.0L supercharged V6 AWD vehicle delivers 380hp and 339lb-ft torque. Agile, responsive and brawny are the best adjectives to describe the overall handling and Powertrain. The steering is accurate and nicely weighted. Of course, the torque vectoring and braking is on par with many of its competitors but nothing to boast about. Let’s face it, if you are seeking a rambunctious roller coaster ride, you may desire to blast out another 50,000 USD for the SVR. And, if you’re in the mood for a manual transmission, then this may not be the sleigh ride for you as it’s no longer offered on this crop.

In short, if you’re in the marketplace for a sybaritic yet sassy vixen that’s just under a 100,000 USD – then this is the car for you. Strong curb appeal, decent gas mileage (mpg: 23 city/30 highway) apace with enough amenities to keep a ‘gadget head’ feigning. The 2020 Jaguar F-Typer R-Dynamic is the benchmark for come-hither coupes, especially with all-wheel drive.

Lexus ES 350 F Sport

Lexus just released their new ES 350 and it’s now available in over 90 countries. The entire skeleton and skin of the previous Lexus ES has been redefined to attract a broader audience – scoot over empty nesters. Coupled with its F Sport package, the new Lexus ES is destined to attract a much more youthful and active generation. So, we decided to take it on an impromptu road trip from Manhattan to Maryland and all the hot spots in between during this summer’s blistering heat wave.

Koichi Suga, General Manager of Lexus Design Division, describes it as the most aggressive change for the emblematic ES. And indeed it is, the car now comes across as being more boisterous and bold. From the outside, the car has distinctive features which are unique to the F Sport trim. The 19-inch five-spoke alloy wheels, the dual integrated exhaust outlet, the F Sport badging as well as the low hoodline and long shoulders really make this car appear track ready. The inside reveals the same vibe, with aluminum pedals, Hadori sword wave-patterned aluminum appointments, red double stitching and red race-inspired interior seats. The 3.5L V6 24 Valve DOHC engine produces 302 hp and 287 lb-ft torque. Although it’s front-wheel drive, engineers managed to capture the emotional response of driving a rear-wheel drive vehicle. However, for the diehard car enthusiasts, there’s a setting to amplify exhaust notes. Overall, the drive is orgasmic; and one can easily cruise in it for long periods of time, feeling comfortable and pampered with ventilated heat/cool front seats. We practically lived inside the cabin when temperatures reached over 100 degrees Fahrenheit. Moreover, this year’s extra two inches of wheelbase allows backseat passengers to have additional legroom.

At $44,635, one would expect a manufacturer to sacrifice quality during the fabrication process. Contrary to one’s expectations, most materials used feel supple and soft, from the steering wheel to the dashboard. There are also three different types of woods incorporated in the overall interior design, including a matt bamboo finish, a nod to Japanese culture and heritage. An apparent step forward from its predecessor which was full of peeling plastics.

In addition, the car is well-equipped with innovative technology. The ES features a an animated gage cluster, a trackpad with tactile sensors as well as a sleeker instrument board. Tech savy drivers will be pleased to pair it with Apple CarPlay, Siri Eyes Free or Google Voice CTRL. Our favorite is Lexus Enform which is an intuitive system that allows you to speak to a live agent to obtain an address and have it sent directly to your vehicle’s infotainment system. The representatives are accessible 24/7 and help you stay alert if you succumb to driver’s fatigue while on a lengthy trip. This came in handy while we were in traffic or already in route to a location. Not to mention, all the safety technology is standard: blind spot monitoring, adaptive cruise control, automatic emergency braking and lane departure assist.

In short, the all-new 2019 Lexus ES 350 F Sport has a bodacious body that contantly turns heads and a 10-speaker Lexus premium sound system to make them nod.

Lexus NX 300 F Sport

Over the holiday season, we had the opportunity to traverse through NYC and the surrounding metropolitan areas with one of the auto industry’s most capable compact luxury SUVs. Due to its affordable base price, above average gas mileage, ergonomics and technology, the Lexus NX is an easy choice for many.

Value × Performance

Lexus carries a base price of $36,485 and features a 235-horsepower turbo-four engine, six-speed automatic transmission with front-wheel drive. Standard driver assistance features include a rearview camera, lane departure warning, lane keep assist, adaptive cruise control, automatic high beams, and a pre-collision system with pedestrian detection. In addition, one can add all-wheel drive for only $1,400. By upgrading to the NX F Sport (our model tested was approximately $49,000) the vehicle has select components to enhance handling, such as an F Sport-tuned suspension and Sport S and Sport S+ drive modes. Other features in this package include paddle shifters, aluminum pedals, special body panels and badges and front sport seats with enhanced bolsters for added side support. As far as acceleration capacity, the NX should easily offer enough power for the casual driver. The NX 300 (formerly known as the NX 200t) comes with a 235-hp turbocharged 2.0-liter four-cylinder engine, a six-speed automatic, and front-wheel drive. G-force sensors and adaptive cruise control set this vehicle apart from the other SUV’s on the market today.

The NX’s safety features are also top notch and include eight airbags, whiplash-injury lessening front seats, and a full array of available electronic safety systems such as lane departure alert and intelligent high-beam. With all newer Lexus models, it also includes the highly specialized and technologically advanced Lexus pre-collision Safety System. These safety features combined bring the NX to the top of its class.

Interior

Standard features on the interior of the NX include an infotainment system with an 10.3-inch display screen, Siri Eyes Free, Bluetooth, a Wi-Fi hot spot, an eight-speaker audio system, and satellite radio. A wireless device charger and heads-up display are a couple of great additional features. Not to mention, those scarlet red race-inspired designer seats and red stitched dash appointments. Of course, climate control as well as heated seats and steering are always winners during the winter months.

Comfort

Given the already generous backseat room in the car, the NX also includes power-folding rear seats. Additionally, the cabin is extremely quiet even at highway speeds which is a great feature especially for long road trips.

Technology

Newly offered Alexa, allows the driver to stream Amazon music, listen to audiobooks and control their living quarters via smart-home. And of course in this digitally renovated world, having someone to speak to while on a solo trip can be conducive with driver’s fatigue. On the other hand, for those introverts seeking a quiet more therapeutic ride, they can utilize the remote touchpad to interact with the SUV’s overall cerebrum.

Conclusion

The Lexus NX 300 F Sport is one-of-a-kind. Even in a overly-crowded compact SUV market, the Lexus NX still manages to push through into the limelight. With its interior loaded with technology and its bold exterior turning heads on the streets, this is a great purchase for anyone looking for a sporty yet roomy modern SUV. Moreover, if you don’t like being at the pump every week and being able to fit in a small parking spot within a metropolis – this is a MUST-BUY.
