Ama Lou Debut Album

Today, fast-rising British singer/songwriter/producer Ama Lou makes her major-label debut with a new EP titled Ama, who? Released via Interscope Records, the five-track project showcases the thought-provoking sounds and visuals that have earned her praise from the likes of Drake, in addition to drawing acclaim from such outlets as VOGUE, Complex, The FADER, and Paper. Produced by Ama, along with Che Pope, Frank Dukes, Murda Beatz, Hi-Tek, and Foster, Ama, who? is a collection of songs that sees Ama reflecting on what she’s accomplished so far, and asserting the direction in which she’s headed. It’s another step forward in her artistic world and confirmation of who Ama is as an artist.

The follow-up to Ama Lou’s critically lauded 2018 debut EP DDD, Ama, who? features her recent single “NORTHSIDE” — a stripped-back and bouncy track that’s amassed over a million streams on Spotify and, close to 2 million views on YouTube. Directed by Ama and shot by her sister and creative visual partner Mahalia John, the video for “NORTHSIDE” features cameos from A$AP Nast, Taco from Odd Future, Fai Khadra, and more of Ama’s west coast friends. Watch the video HERE.

Track list for Ama, who?:
1. Far Out
2. NORTHSIDE
3. We tried, we tried
4. This Town
5. Better

Originally from North London, Ama Lou is a classically trained musician who got her start playing guitar at the age of 10, began writing her own songs at 11, and took up piano at 14. Now 21, she introduced the world to her dynamic songwriting with two back-to-back, politically charged singles: “Tbc” (an October 2016 release penned in response to the killing of Eric Garner by New York police) and “Not Always” (a layered meditation on gender, released in December 2016). With its sound described by The Guardian as “husky soul, feathery trap and skittering, downcast R&B,” “Tbc” soon caught the attention of Drake, who later named Ama Lou among the artists who inspired the making of his 2018 album Scorpion.

Arriving in early 2018, DDD was hailed as “brimming with her signature minimalism” by Billboard, who also noted that the EP “blends colorful synths and snappy drums with her powerful voice.” The three-track project was accompanied by a short-film directed by Ama and shot by her sister Mahalia John. The short film starred Ama Lou as a member of a fictional L.A. crime ring.
Shortly after the release of DDD, Ama Lou headed out on tour with fellow British phenom Jorja Smith. In a review of their May 2018 stop at Brooklyn Steel, Billboard stated that Ama Lou’s “sweeping vocals were powerful yet polished and melted seamlessly into her self-produced, atmospheric melodies.”

Lil Mosey – Certified Hitmaker

Lil Mosey has been quietly plotting a takeover since his official entry into the rap game just two years ago. The Seattle rapper’s breakout hit, “Pull Up,” was the internet sensation that put him on the map, racking up millions of views and eventually landing the precocious teen at Interscope Records. His debut album, Certified Hitmaker, is out today, Friday, November 8.

The 14-track album also features collaborations with Trippie Red, AJ Tracey and R&B superstar Chris Brown on “G Walk.” Mosey leaked a sizzling new song this week, “Live This Wild,” and on Wednesday, the prolific 17-year-old launched a Fan Only experience in honor of the album’s release with a free concert at The Echo in Los Angeles. He will follow up with two more free shows on Monday, November 11 at SOBs in New York and Sunday, November 24 at Neumos in his hometown of Seattle.

The lead single, “Stuck In A Dream” featuring Gunna, is currently in rotation on Spotify’s “Today’s Top Hits,” the streaming platform’s largest global playlist with nearly 25 million followers. The song also cracked the Global Top 50 at #46, while the accompanying music video has reaped over 14 million views in just one month. Stateside, the track is at #16 with Lil Mosey’s growing catalog has collectively been streamed a whopping 1.9 billion times globally.

Propelled by fan favorites, “Boof Pack” and the platinum hit single “Noticed,” the project was recently certified Gold by the Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA).

SHECK WES RELEASES NEW SINGLE & VIDEO “YKTS”

Harlem rapper Sheck Wes has premiered his long-awaited new single “YKTS. Released via Cactus Jack/ G.O.O.D. Music/ Interscope Records and accompanied by a wildly outlandish video, “YKTS” showcases the raw intensity and lo-fi but hard-hitting aesthetic that made Sheck a breakout star with his viral hit “Mo Bamba.

Watch the video for “YKTS” HERE.

Directed by White Trash Tyler (a filmmaker known for his work with Travis ScottKanye West, and Kodak Black) and shot on both coasts, the “YKTS” visual finds Sheck in a variety of outrageous scenarios: racing foreign cars through the California desert, buried in an avalanche of sneakers, donning crystal chandeliers as headwear. The starkly potent track’s title phrase stands for “You Know the Scouts” — a term that Sheck coined himself and quickly made essential to the cultural lexicon.

A 21-year-old first-generation American, Sheck broke through with his triple-platinum single “Mo Bamba”: a tribute to his childhood friend and Orlando Magic draft pick Mo Bamba, and a powerful portrait of survival in the inner city. Originally released in June 2017, the song went viral in early 2018, eventually reaching #6 on the Billboard Hot 100 and amassing over 527 million streams on Spotify to date. In addition, the New York Times featured “Mo Bamba” in its “Diary of a Song” series, with Sheck appearing alongside his collaborators 16yrold and Take A Daytrip. Check it out HERE.

“Mo Bamba” appears on Sheck’s widely acclaimed full-length debut MUDBOY, which arrived in October of last year. Along with hitting the top 20 on the Billboard 200 chart, MUDBOY landed on the Top 50 Albums of 2018 list from on Pitchfork (who also hailed it as a “a strong and holistic statement” and “the rare project from an über-hyped rap prospect that actually delivers on its promise”).

Markie × Lil Durk

Louisville, KY rapper, Markie, has released a video for his new song, “In My Flesh” ft. Lil Durk, on Interscope Records. Directed by Marc Diamond and shot in Atlanta, check out the video HERE.

“In My Flesh” will feature on Markie’s debut EP, ‘Right My Wrongs,’ out this winter on Interscope Records.

“In My Flesh” is Markie’s third release on Interscope Records since his signing at the start of the year; “Repent,” his debut song, dropped in August and the second single, “Ugly Places” came at the end of September. Markie has been on the road with Roddy Ricch, opening for select dates on the east coast leg of his tour. His last show will be November 22 in Cincinnati, OH at the Roselawn Live.

A 19-year-old rapper with a lifetime of stories to tell, Markie hails from the East End of Louisville, Kentucky—a place that inevitably pours into each song he creates. “Where I come from is the gutter, it’s the trenches,” says Markie. “People have their ideas of what life is like in Louisville, so I wanted to use my music to tell them what’s really going on.” Markie’s forthcoming debut project brings his magnetic charisma and melodic flow to that purposely unfiltered truth-telling.

Markie first discovered his gift with words as a little kid, finding early recognition by winning third place in a statewide short-story contest in sixth grade. Naming Lil Wayne and Boosie Badazz among his longtime influences, he got his start in music at age 18, teaming up with his cousin and recording his first song in a closet studio. He soon caught the ear of local producers, who offered him free studio time at a recording spot in his neighborhood. Before he’d even released any of his songs, Markie landed a management deal and quickly drew the attention of Interscope Records, who signed him in early 2019.
