Fun Lovin’ Criminals Release “Daylight”

Multi-platinum New York trio Fun Lovin’ Criminals return with new material for the first time since 2010 with the release of ‘Daylight’ today and upcoming UK/European ‘Another Mimosa’ tour.

A reworking of the Bobby Womack / Georgie Fame classic; ‘Daylight’ features a guest appearance from renowned vocalist Rowetta of The Happy Mondays. ‘Daylight’ is the lead single lifted from forthcoming album ‘Another Mimosa’, set for release on January 18th 2019 in the 20th anniversary year of their cult album ‘Mimosa’. A variation on the theme of the 1999 album, which became a cult classic with Crims fans for featuring clever re-imaginings of classic covers, remixes and rarities, ‘Another Mimosa’ draws on their seminal influences from the last 20 years.

“Another Mimosa is a continuation of a long tradition of the FLC paying homage to those great songwriters that we stand on the shoulders of,” notes Huey, from our love of hip hop, to soul to jazz and rock we humbly offer our fans another taste of our unique cocktail.”

Recorded in London’s Gibson Studios with life-long “fourth member”, the Grammy-award winning engineer Tim Latham (Hamilton soundtrack, A Tribe Called Quest, De le Soul, Lou Reed), ‘Another Mimosa’ is a collection of beautifully crafted, eclectic ‘original covers’. From Tom Petty’s ‘Mary Janes Last Dance’ switched up with HipHop beats and a classic Rock influence, to the raw blues of Freddie King’s “Going Down’; Ice Cube’s classic “You Know How We Do It” is made their own with Huey’s smoky drawl and the grace of Neil Diamonds’ “Hello Again” receives the FLC treatment. Alongside a high energy reworking of their own ‘Love Unlimited’ and ‘Southside’ and a brand new FLC track ‘Sunset’; its an album that turns charms and intrigues.

The Another Mimosa tour kicks off in Birmingham on the 31st January, and wraps up in Leeds on the 31st March 2019, the UK leg of the tour will also see FLC travel to Bristol, Manchester, Glasgow, Newcastle, Nottingham, Southhampton, Norwich, Worthing, Oxford and London. Tickets for the Another Mimosa tour are available to purchase here .

Still a mainstay on the festival circuit in UK and Europe, FLC are Europe’s best-loved “cousins from New York”, whip-smart story-tellers in smarter Saville Row suits who, through comically tall tales of living large in the neon metropolis, launched a career in music. They burst onto the music scene in 1996, gate crashing the euphoric Brit-pop party with unforgettable finesse. Heralded for their generation defining blend of styles and effortless Lower East Side charm, FLC’s refreshing cocktail of rock n’ roll, funk, blues, soul, hip hop, jazz and latin, gave the Crims a unique timelessness that is still apparent three decades on. The Lower East side trio consists of frontman turned Sony Award winning BBC broadcaster Huey Morgan, his founding partner Brian ‘Fast’ Leiser on bass, trumpet, keys and samples and the groups longest-standing drummer Frank ‘The Rhythm Master’ Benbini.

Welcome To Jamrock Reggae Cruise

Hailed as one of the most authentic, intimate and international reggae experiences, Welcome To Jamrock Reggae Cruise will celebrate its fifth year on the high seas from December 1-6, 2018. The sold-out 5-day voyage aboard Royal Caribbean departs Ft. Lauderdale, FL with stops in Ocho Rios and Falmouth, Jamaica.

This monumental year will be packed with unforgettable moments. To celebrate this occasion, five of Bob Marley’s kin Ziggy, Stephen, Julian, Ky-Mani and Damian will unite on one stage for a rare performance.

Welcome To Jamrock Reggae Cruise (WTJRC) has become one of the most in-demand reggae gatherings in the world. Since its inception in 2014, every single cruise sells out almost a year in advance. Each year, fans spanning from over 40 countries all converge for their love of reggae music and Jamaican culture.

Founded by Damian “Jr. Gong” Marley, the Grammy-winning musician has made it his mission for the cruise to embody the island’s rich culture. The music, entertainment, food, fitness and wellness activities all give cruise-goers a slice of the Jamaica before they dock, from Ital Rastafarian cuisine to the celebrity football (soccer) tournaments to cult-classic films to the annual soundclash (in layman’s terms, a Jamaica-originated DJ battle), this is not the average cruise. It is the only place where fans can stay up until dawn to catch their favorite acts performing throughout the ship and join them the same morning on the pool deck for sunrise meditation with Nyabinghi drumming and chanting. After fully immersing into these pure organic experiences, the cruisers appreciate their arrival to Jamaica that much more.

This year’s artist lineup boasts a diverse range of Jamaican talent from today’s emerging stars to the legends who paved the way. In addition to the Marley Brothers’ anticipated performance, Damian “Jr Gong” Marley will carry on the Jamrock tradition to deliver an electrifying solo set. The power bill continues with Mykal Rose with Sly & Robbie, Bounty Killer, Jah Cure, Chronixx, Tarrus Riley, Third World, Konshens, Elephant Man, Aidonia, Queen Ifrica, Agent Sasco, Kabaka Pyramid, Shenseea, Skatalites, Ken Boothe, Leroy Sibbles, Horace Andy, Jo Mersa Marley, Jesse Royal, Dexta Daps, Spragga Benz, General Degree, Red Rat, Buccaneer, Jah9, King Jammy’s, Johnny Osbourne, Admiral Bailey, Pinchers, Bunny General and Pad Anthony.

Following the artists’ performances, cruisers can catch their favorite sound systems (Stone Love, Renaissance, Mighty Crown, Tony Matterhorn, Kingston 12 Hi-Fi, Bass Odyssey, Heavy Hammer and Black Scorpio) spinning tunes until the wee hours of the night.

Throughout the cruise, there will also be a variety of DJs and hosts (DJ Rory, Mutabaruka, Bambino, Big A, Nikki Z, Colin Hines, ZJ Liquid, DJ Roy, Spex, Robbo Ranx, Rassarella, GT Taylor, Ron Muschette, Seani B, Westafa, Steelie Bashment, Shacia Payne, Foota Hype, Shortkut, DJ Gringo, Yaardcore, Mad Out, Mixmaster J, Supa Hype and Hotta Rice) providing sounds and entertainment along with enlightening discussions from guest speakers Cindy Breakspeare and Neville Garrick.

2018 may be sold out, but fans can reserve a spot on 2019’s ship, on sale now.

JON BELLION RELEASES NEW ALBUM

Glory Sound Prep illuminates the vast scope of Bellion’s genre-defying musical and lyrical vision. He threads together pop, R&B, hip-hop, alternative, and rock over the course of the ten-track trip, welcoming listeners into his world with open arms. Having initially built his remarkable fan base by self-releasing mixtapes recorded in his parents’ basement, Bellion continues this tradition on his sophomore album by writing and producing the entirety of the project on his own. To give fans an inside look at his writing process, he shared a clip on Instagram which shows the creation of his latest single, Stupid Deep — watch it HERE.

Adding another dimension to the music, he unveiled an animated visual clip to accompany each song on the record introduced by JTConversations with my Wife, and Stupid Deep. The latter cracked 2 million combined streams in under week. To date, total streams for the new music eclipses 8 million. Check out the full track listing below.

Bellion got his start with a series of mixtapes featuring his original songs all recorded in his parents’ basement. He built a remarkable following by sharing his music directly with listeners, giving away more than 200,000 free downloads of 2014’s The Definition and playing live for fans on two sold-out national tours. Also, a sought-after collaborator, Bellion co-wrote and produced Trumpets for Jason Derulo and co-wrote the GRAMMY Award winning, 10x-Platinum hit The Monster for Eminem and Rihanna. He co-wrote and co-produced Christina Aguilera’s recent single, Fall in Line featuring Demi Lovato. Glory Sound Prep follows up the artist’s RIAA Gold-certified 2016 debut album, The Human Condition, which has sold more than 1.5 million adjusted albums and amassed upwards of 1.7 billion cumulative streams. All Time Low, the lead single, was a Top 10 hit at Top 40 radio and is now certified 3x Platinum.

COROLLA HATCHBACK

By Alexandria Baiz × Vaughn Lowery

The 2019 Toyota Corolla Hatchback makes a design comeback, leaving a lasting impression with innovative upgrades and engineering. SE base model starts at $21,000 and the XSE somewhere in the ballpark of $24,000. Our midnight black souped-up model’s MSRP is around $27,000 and is fully stocked with 18-inch wheels alongside a massive back spoiler to add drama. With every pen stroke, the architects produced a dynamic, athletic yet sophisticated vehicle. The world’s best-selling car just got remixed. So, we promptly accepted the manufacturer’s offer to road trip it to Vegas to check out our favorite pop stars Tinie Tempah, Ellie Goulding, and Pitbull at the JBL Fest hosted by special guest Quincy Jones.

Different from former models, this version possesses a longer wheelbase. The black mesh honeycomb grille, emphasizes the evolution of the Corolla and its increased width. To provide better forward visibility, the hood is constructed to sit two inches lower than earlier. The rounded physique makes a simple, yet powerful three-dimensional landscape that is comfortable and pleasing to drive. Moreover, the interior quality is more delicate and stylish. The XSE stitching on dash and door is bold and fashion-forward. Thus, when we pulled up to the SLS Las Vegas Hotel & Casino all eyes were on us. Furthermore, the hatchback has technologically advanced features: three-door Smart Key system; Apple CarPlay; Amazon’s Alexa and 8-inch touch display screen. Other amenities include an 8-speaker JBL audio system (excellent for fist-pumping), 2 USB ports and a single-zone automatic climate control; a leather shift knob and paddle shifters behind the steering rack.

The Safety Sense 2.0 includes pre-collision warning with pedestrian, cyclist and roadside detection as well as dynamic cruise control and lane departure alerts. Alarms are popular amongst users, who enjoy a visual alert on infotainment screen and then a ringing alert if detection becomes more fatal. Seats empower comfort with updated cushioning which minimizes fatigue and also are great for cornering while in Sport Mode. Ideal access to the steering wheel, pedals, and gear shift are available with power adjustable seat.

The new fuel-efficient TNGA 2.0 liter four-cylinder, six-speed iMT (Intelligent Manual Transmission) makes it easier to maneuver on highways. The CVT (continuously variable transmission) at an additional $1,100 includes more power and miles per gallon. The CVT simplifies the stop and go action, boosts fuel economy and makes blind spot monitoring available.

While both SE and XSE receive LED headlamps/taillights, chrome rear diffuser, and alloy wheels, the XSE is more distinctive. The SE sports 16-inch wheels while XSE rocks 18-inch wheels (with a 33 mpg). Additional features include LED fog lights; chrome grille surround and Adaptive Front Lighting System (AFS). AFS matches the vehicle velocity and steering angle for the correct distribution of light – great for some of the darker strips in downtown Las Vegas. Behind the steering wheel, a 7-inch TFT Multi-Information Display (MID) which displays vehicle information, turn-by-turn navigation, and various vehicle settings: Lane Departure Alert, Lane Tracing Assist, Pre-Collision System with Pedestrian Detection, and Blind Spot Monitor.

The sport-tuned suspension paired with rallycross looks and Toyota technology makes the Corolla Hatchback perfect for buyers seeking an easy, affordable drive.
