Morro Bay – Holiday Activities

Have a Nautical Holiday in Morro Bay: Citywide Crab Pot Tree Lighting, Lighted Boat Parade Weekend, Artisan Shopping along the Embarcadero & Paddling Fun in the Bay

Whatever Morro Bay creates, they do it in their own style. This goes for holiday events, gifts for everyone on your list, and fun new ways to get moving outdoors! Brimming with 15 holiday trees made from old crab pots, brightly decorated boats sailing the harbor, and Santa Claus hanging out in his house on the waterfront Embarcadero, Morro Bay celebrates its true nautical roots during this festive period.

This year the Friends of the Harbor Department will build a huge Crab Pot tree made of commercial crab pots on the waterfront in Anchor Park.  Anchor park is in the heart of the Embarcadero with uninterrupted views of the bay and Morro Rock – perfect for the family holiday photo-op.

Getting out of town during the holidays can offer a much-needed change of pace, and the chance to make completely new and unforgettable holiday memories.  Take part in any of the Morro Bay holiday events during December, complete your holiday shopping in Morro Bay’s unique boutiques, and find the perfect outdoor activity for everyone in your family along the Embarcadero.

Taste on Melrose, 360 MAGAZINE, la

Taste On Melrose

Taste On Melrose is one of LA’s hippest brunch spots. Ultra chic Hollywood hopefuls alongside of handcrafted cocktails with a Kobe burger make this place popping. Yet, the sweet tasting crispy bacon inside a viscous side of macaroni and cheese still isn’t enough to cover up some of the front of house issues. With no reservations, expect to wait up to an hour or so. Once seated, our beverages and appetizers still didn’t make it to our table until another hour. Don’t fret because management is cognizant of their spotty service and will amend your bill to make up for any misadventures. Nevertheless, this Parisian-style sidewalk dining experience is still worthy of your patronage, especially if you have a flair for fashion and enjoy people watching.

Rock House Sliders

By Krishan Narsinghani x Vaughn Lowery x McCellies Mason

As of late, Rock House Sliders Hollywood [RHSH] opened its doors to the American market and 360 Magazine had the grand opportunity to attend the soft opening. The restaurant is located at 7950 Sunset Boulevard in Hollywood. Parking is offered underneath the property until 9:00pm with validation.

RHSH originates from Kuwait, an Arab country on the Persian Gulf. Currently, the chain possesses ten locations within the Middle East. The company plans to expand to Santa Monica and Downtown Los Angeles. In the near future, they will privately deliver fresh hot food until 3:00am.

Upon entry, guests are embraced by friendly staff and instantly mesmorized by modern ambiance – open concept with floor-to-ceiling windows and white walls. The furniture is ergonomically trendy and transforms the venue from traditional dine-in to a pet friendly hotspot. The menu was formulated by a consultant chef serving Angus beef and grass-fed cow alongside of vegan options.

The restaurant serves six mouth-watering 2oz juicy burgers. Listed include: Original Rocker, Original Chicken, Spicy Chicken, Boston Mushroom, Chipotle BBQ Ranch and Kick My Boss. Prices vary from $2.89 to $3.89 and are coupled with tantalizing sides of french fries (w/o cheese), hand breaded onion rings, hand breaded buffalo tenders and cheddar tots. The Original Crispy Chicken Sandwich is perfectly crafted for a savory and succulent bite.

The ‘Messy Fries’ (reminscent of tangy nachos at one of your favorite cantinas) was the 360 team’s personal favorite – topped with relish, jalapeños, cheddar cheese, thousand island and beef bacon bits. All sides perfectly pair with their in-house made sauces. For dessert, cool off with some of their signature Black Ice Cream or one of their delicious all-natural milkshakes.

MILK & HONEY TAPAS

”If you don’t love this industry [Food and Beverage] then don’t do it … the amount of time is overwhelming.” – Al Rojas

By Vaughn Lowery

Nearly twenty years ago, Al Rojas received some investment capital from his father (died from cancer 25 years ago) to become a restaurateur. After years of successfully running Santa Barbara’s widely popular Alcazar Tapas Bar, he commenced to sink his teeth into another endeavor – Milk & Honey Tapas [MHT]. This eclectic, snug cafe with curbside dining provides an array of mystical libations and mouth watering snacks for foodies.

Specialty cocktails are their strong suit; however, the drinks are so intoxicating that you’ll have to taste their menu. After one drink, we were buzzing like busy bees in the hive. Hence, we started with flash-fried kale chips topped with manchego cheese and an order of Prosciutto Bundles stuffed with goat cheese. Yummy. Next up, we ordered PB&J Sliders (sirloin sliders, peanut butter, raspberry jam, Applewood smoked bacon) and Honey Lamb Pops (char broiled lamb chops; teriyaki, honey, butter, shallot, brown sugar sauce) – yes, we licked both our fingers and the bones. One of the most intriguing indigenous dishes we tried was Por-Que Pig?! (pulled pork shoulder, creamed pasilla chiles, garlic cilantro rice, manchego cheese, fresh cilantro, tomato; tomatillo cream sauce). Definitely not one of the most attractive items on the menu, but it sure was the most delightful – we scraped our bowls. For dessert, we received their house funnel cake alongside of a dark cup of coffee.

Rojas boasts of being a globetrotter (Spain, France, UK, Grenada, Copenhagen, Montreal) and reminds us that his infused assortments were inspired by his travels. Adorning smart specs and possessing a charismatic personality, no wonder his wait staff is equally professional and attentive – his power to lead permeates the air. Something that his father instilled in him, “Treat everyone equally [no matter what their position in life may be].” Moreover, the fun-loving GM and crew kept the dimly lit dinner service packed like a can of sardines.

In short, this is one of the best tapas and sips we have put our lips on in a long time. In fact, Milk & Honey Tapas rivals some of the top restaurants in New York City, Chicago and Los Angeles. If you possess an appetite for tangy handcrafted concoctions paired with savory bites, then this place will literally blow your wig back.
