USA Cycling Announces Partnership w/ Champion® Athleticwear × the Levi’s® Brand

First-of-its-kind outfitting partnership with USA Cycling’s BMX Freestyle National Team

USA Cycling announces an official partnership with apparel and lifestyle brands Champion Athleticwear and the Levi’s® brand. This first-of-its-kind partnership will be centered around designing and creating an apparel line for the USA Cycling’s BMX Freestyle National Team that includes the athletes, coaches and staff.  The apparel will notably be shown as part of the BMX Freestyle kit at the sport’s inaugural debut in the Olympic Games, Tokyo 2020.

Through the partnership, Levi’s® and Champion will help USA Cycling bring BMX Freestyle to the masses. They will receive global visibility on the Team USA BMX Freestyle kit during international competitions; allowing them to bridge the unique circumstances that BMX Freestyle brings through its influence on the global lifestyle/streetwear culture around the world with jeans and t-shirts being a standard part of what athletes wear in competition.

“We are proud to collaborate with two great American brands who have been around for 100+ years,” Rob DeMartini, President and CEO of USA Cycling, “When you think of American denim, it is synonymous with Levi’s®. To have our athletes outfitted in a quality brand with a legacy of being quintisentially American is a perfect match. Additionally, Champion will celebrate its hundredth anniversary this year and we will celebrate ours in 2020. Over the past century they have become a fixture in American athletics and we are excited to find new and meaningful ways to work with them to continue to carry on that legacy. With the amount of coverage BMX Freestyle will receive from the media in the lead-up to and during their debut in the Games, we are excited to have the opportunity to showcase the sport with these meaningful partners in an innovative way.”

“We are proud to support the USA Cycling BMX Freestyle National Team and to collaborate with an iconic brand like Levi’s,” said Jon Ram, Group President, Global Activewear, Hanesbrands Inc. “With Champion’s dedication to creating apparel that helps athletes perform at their highest level, while incorporating design for true self-expression on and off the course, we’re excited that both athletes and consumers will benefit from this new partnership. Entering the world of cycling is a natural progression for our brand and a thrilling new chapter for us.”

“Levi’s® has proudly been the choice of bold self-expressive youth for generations,” said Jennifer Sey, Chief Marketing Officer, Levi Strauss and Co.  “In this spirit, we are honored to support BMX Freestyle’s Team USA in the lead up to the 2020 Olympics and the team’s inaugural appearance at the games. We’re excited to see the team rock their Levi’s®, and Champion gear of course, both on and off the course.”

Boys and their Toys: Why Razor’s New E-XR Is the Perfect Father’s Day Gift

By Paige Gilmar x Vaughn Lowery

As Father’s Day blows out its one-hundred-and-ninth birthday candle this year, the holiday is often written in our thoughts with Elmer’s glue, popsicle sticks, Crayola boxes, and construction paper. Though the sappy Hallmark jingles and tie-themed gift wrap have only lasted a century in America, the European Father’s Day descends from the creaking gray-haired epoch of the Middle Ages. Trading in medieval flails for millennial frappes and bubonic plagues for bong-pong party games, the meaning of Father’s Day has changed as many times as the meanings we give ourselves as humans. Now in a time of drone delivery-men and talking cell phones, it seems the 1950s-era of homemade coupons and black coffee in bed won’t cut it anymore these Father’s Days. In order to give your Father’s Day an edge, it needs Razor.

In 2000, American designer and manufacturer of electric personal transportation RazorUSA, simply known as Razor, took corporate to the sidewalks and launched its first scooter design the Razor Model A Scooter. With one simple brand, the clunky, rickety classic scooter became a sleek way to travel, making kids and adults alike rethink the stereotype of the dreaded “pooper-scooter.” For almost twenty years, Razor has defined and redefined the meaning of personal transportation, with dads drooling and sons swooning to the new innovations this company produces year after year. 2019 is no different, and these industrial pioneers introduced their latest, most sophisticated electric personal transportation: the E-XR Electric Scooter.

Rather than waste your income on Bird ($.20/min) and Lime ($.15/min) scooter rentals, the cost-effective E-XR fits elegantly with some of life’s greatest drugeries and diversions. Commuting to work, having a little joy-ride, walking the dog–there will be no need to run errands when you can simply glide uphill, downhill, and everything in between. With a perfect synthesis of power, speed, design, and comfort, the E-XR has a speed of up to 17 mph (or 27.4 km/h), a run time of 60 minutes, and a distance of up to 20 miles (or 32 km). With a 350-watt motor with kick-to-start, high-torque, and brushless hub features and an electronic, thumb-activated throttle with variable speed and paddle control, the E-XR gives the ultimate power and ultimate convenience to its riders.

Razor is a brand that listens, and after hearing of how hard some of its previous models took urban bumps and cracks, the company remodeled its E-XR to have large a 9-inch (229 mm) pneumatic front tire and an eight-inch (204 mm) airless, flat-free rear tire to soften rough roads for a velvety smooth ride. Just as the E-XR fits many types of trips, it also fits many people with a max weight of 220 pounds (100 kg). The E-XR overcompensates by also including a hand-operated rear disc brake, a three-stage LED battery display, and a battery charge. Whether you’re an early bird in love with a flying start or a fly-by-night owl, the front and rear lights assure sight while the standard-sized u-lock assures safety every trip. The sturdy aluminum frame prevents rattling, and the rechargeable 36V lithium-ion battery pack makes the E-XR a great option for you and the environment.

Make this Father’s Day more than just another stiff card and store-bought cake. Make it an experience. Make it Razor.

FIM IN FRANCE

The ninety-second edition of the FIM International Six Days Enduro (ISDE) is set to take place in Brive-la-Gaillarde, France from 28 August to 2 September as the event returns to France soil for the first time since 2001.

With much having changed in the World of enduro during the two most recent instalments of the ISDE in France, the popularity of the ISDE remains stronger than ever with more than eight hundred riders taking to the start of this year’s event. With nineteen FIM World Trophy teams entered, sixteen FIM Junior World Trophy teams and nine FIM Women’s World trophy teams, in addition more than five hundred riders have signed up to compete in the Club team competition, with no fewer than one hundred and sixty-six representing home nation France.

The longest running FIM sanctioned event, there were notable changes at the top of the results last year. With Australia securing a hat-trick of class wins in Slovakia in 2015 with victory in the FIM World Trophy, FIM Junior World Trophy and FIM Women’s World trophy, the ninety-first edition in Spain saw the USA make history by claiming their first ever World Trophy class win. Kailub Russell – KTM, Ryan Sipes – Husqvarna, Layne Michel – Husqvarna and Taylor Robert – KTM, who also topped the event’s overall individual classification, finally put the USA at the top of the iconic event’s illustrious list of winning World Trophy teams.

Set to defend their World Trophy title, team USA return to the ISDE with arguably the strongest four-rider team in the competition. With Taylor Robert – KTM, Thad Duvall – Husqvarna and Kailub Russell – KTM once again teaming up with Ryan Sipes – Husqvarna, the American quartet will face strong competition from France, Australia, Italy and Spain.

Out to claim a third successive World Trophy team victory on home soil having won in Mend in 1988 and Brive in 2001, France will be focused on nothing but victory. Despite the fact that it’s now three years since they last topped the FIM World Trophy team results, since 2008 France have claimed no fewer than six victories with this year’s squad of Christophe Nambotin – KTM, Loic Larrieu – Yamaha, Jeremy Tarroux – Sherco and Christophe Charlier – Husqvarna looking to add to that tally.

Leading France’s World Trophy team will be Christophe Nambotin – KTM. The former multiple FIM Enduro World Champion and two-time ISDE overall fastest competitor is the most experienced member of France’s squad having been a key member of no fewer than five of France’s six most recent World Trophy team victories.

Despite making last minute changes to their team, Sweden enter this year’s ISDE with high hopes of a repeat Junior World Trophy victory. With just forty-five seconds separating Sweden from runners-up the USA last year in Spain, Albin Elowson – Husqvarna, Mikael Persson – Yamaha and newcomer Joakim Grelsson – KTM will be hoping that once again they can do just enough to secure class victory.
Italy is another nation looking for top honours in the Junior World Trophy team competition, which has seen four different countries claim the top spot during the last four years. Filling the third step of the podium in Spain last year, Davide Soreca – Honda, Andrea Verona – TM and Matteo Cavallo – Beta take to the start in Brive following a full year of FIM Enduro World Championship competition.

Returning to the event with an unchanged Women’s World Trophy team, Australia’s winning trio of Tayla Jones – Husqvarna, Jessica Gardiner – Yamaha and Jemma Wilson – Yamaha start this year’s event as clear favourites for victory. Dominating in recent years and having competed together as a team at four previous ISDE competitions, Australia’s Women’s squad is filled with experience, youthfulness and determination and will go up against eight other teams in the Women’s competition.

The 2017 ISDE takes place in Brive, France from 28 August to 2 September.
