The Hate U Give Soundtrack

Def Jam Recordings – the iconic label and global brand synonymous with hip-hop culture – has partnered with 20th Century Fox on the October 12th release of the Official Soundtrack to the highly-anticipated film The Hate U Give, based on the critically acclaimed New York Times bestseller by Angie Thomas.

Def Jam Recordings’ next generation of stars, Arlissa and Bobby Sessions, join an all-star cast of contemporary and legendary artists including Kendrick LamarPusha TLogicJadakiss, and Tupac Shakur for the official movie soundtrack of THE HATE U GIVE, October 12th.

Arlissa and Bobby Sessions introduce new, previously unreleased songs on the soundtrack, which Variety raves “cleverly mimics the film’s outlook by oscillating between snatches of 2Pac and modern R&B;” South London-bred, 25-year old siren Arlissa, who recently appeared in the August issue Vogue, experienced her first real taste of success with her breakthrough track “Hearts Ain’t Gonna Lie.”  Arlissa’s defiant anthem “We Won’t Move” from THE HATE U GIVE soundtrack garnered early buzz at the Toronto Film Festival premiere of T.H.U.G., with Toronto’s NOW exclaiming “the soulful ballad has got ‘Oscar nominee’ written all over it.”

“It’s been a true honor to be involved in something so significant and relevant to today’s social climate,” Arlissa said. “I was one of the millions of people who were deeply touched by the book, so to be able to contribute to the movie, which shines such a strong light on inequality, has been a responsibility I’ve taken with such pride and care. This is not just a film, this is education”

Fiery Dallas rapper Bobby Sessions, who NPR raves “confronts racism with a captivating flow that’s both acrimonious and awe-inspiring,” and whose debut EP channels the anger and despair that accompany the cycle of systemic racism” according to XXL, performs the eponymous title tune, “The Hate U Give.”

Shaping up as one of the fall season’s breakout movies, The Hate U Give stars Amandla Stenberg as Starr, a teen who is constantly switching between two worlds: the poor, mostly black, neighborhood where she lives and the rich, mostly white, prep school she attends. The uneasy balance between these worlds is shattered when Starr witnesses the fatal shooting of her childhood best friend Khalil at the hands of a police officer.  Now, facing pressures from all sides of the community, Starr must find her voice and stand up for what’s right. Amandla’s original song “Always” closes out the soundtrack.

The Hate U Give also stars Russell Hornsby, Regina Hall, Issa Rae, KJ Apa, Algee Smith and Sabrina Carpenter, with Common, and Anthony Mackie. The film was directed by George Tillman Jr. (NotoriousMen Of Honor), and produced by Robert Teitel, George Tillman Jr., Marty Bowen, and Wyck Godfrey.  The Hate U Give, whose screenplay was written by Audrey Wells (A Dog’s PurposeUnder The Tuscan Sun), is a Fox 2000 Pictures, State Street Pictures, and Temple Hill Entertainment production, distributed by 20th Century Fox.

Oxygen Media Presents “Serial Killer with Piers Morgan”

PREMIERING MONDAY, JULY 16 AT 7PM ET/PT

Oxygen Media, the network for high-quality crime programming, will debut “Serial Killer with Piers Morgan,” hosted and executive produced by renown journalist Piers Morgan,  beginning with two episodes Monday, July 16 at 7PM ET/PT and Monday, July 23 at 7PM ET/PT. With unprecedented access to maximum security prisons, “Serial Killer with Piers Morgan” explores the minds of the most depraved serial killers for the first time. Having never spoken on camera about their crimes until now, each chilling hour centers around Piers’ up close and personal interviews with a killer.

Piers delves into the minds of killers who haunted communities for decades and attempts to discover what drove them to murder. He also meets with victims’ families and law enforcement to understand how the actions of these men wreaked havoc across America as police raced against time to try and catch them before they struck again. In the premiere, Piers meets with Mark Riebe. Riebe was convicted of one murder but confessed to police to the abduction and killing of twelve women, and even though he is incarcerated for just one murder and has since withdrawn these confessions, police believe if true Riebe is one of the worst serial killers in Florida’s history. In the next episode, Piers goes to Lorenzo Gilyard, also known as the Kansas City Strangler. For nearly two decades Gilyard brought fear to the streets of Kansas City, Missouri. Incarcerated for six murders, he is the prime suspect in a further seven. Until now, he has never spoken about his crimes and Piers sets out to discover what drove this seemingly ordinary man to kill.

Randall Bell x “Me We Do Be”

Why do some people dive, some survive and others thrive? The answer, Randall Bell, Ph.D., reveals, is surprisingly simple: choices.

Bell, a socio-economist and the CEO of Landmark Research Group, has developed an easy-to-follow formula for authentic growth and success based upon 25 years of behavioral research.

In his book, Me We Do Be: The Four Cornerstones of Success, Bell masterfully interweaves stories from his consulting work on high-profile cases — including Chernobyl, the World Trade Center, and O.J. Simpson — with findings from behavioral studies and his own survey of 5,000 people to reveal the daily habits that can make or break both personal and professional growth and success.

In Me We Do Be, Bell explains that all behaviors can be organized into four cornerstones:

•    Me is quality thinking that builds wisdom.

•    We habits form quality relationships.

•    Do actions build productivity.

•    Be designs the future.

There is no one-size-fits-all definition of success. For some, it’s making money. For others it’s having a loving family, winning a competition, completing a degree or beating cancer. The power of Me We Do Be is that it connects all the dots and creates a fresh perspective for moving forward, allowing readers to define what success means to them as individuals, while sharing the foundational elements that apply to everyone.

Previously, the author led a national practice at PricewaterhouseCoopers, the world’s largest consulting firm. He has consulted on hundreds of cases, including the Flight 93 Crash Site, the BP Oil Spill, Hurricane Katrina and the nuclear testing at Bikini Atoll.

Often a guest of the media, Bell has been profiled in The Wall Street Journal, People magazine, The New York Times, the Chicago Tribune, the Los Angeles Times, CNN, World News Tonight with Diane Sawyer, 20/20, Entertainment Tonight and by newscasters on every major television network.

Steve Alten, New York Times Best-Selling Author: “Eye-opening … Randall Bell’s Me We Do Be is as inspiring as Napoleon Hill’s classic Think and Grow Rich.”

Bob Proctor, Best-Selling Author of You Were Born Rich: “Me We Do Be shows how the little things we do can have a dramatic impact on our quality of life; it’s that one small adjustment that can make the difference between winning and losing. Read, learn and act on the great information provided in this book.”
