Car collector Michael Fux today received his twelfth Bespoke Rolls-Royce commission, and it was another stunning reveal.

Unveiled at ‘The Quail, A Motorsports Gathering’, Rolls-Royce Motor Cars debuted the spectacularly colorful commission, ‘Cullinan in Fux Orange,’ marking the tenth time the brand has developed and reserved a color carrying the name of the prolific patron of Bespoke.

Unveiled by Torsten Müller-Ötvös, Chief Executive, Rolls-Royce Motor Cars, the commission was the highlight of the Rolls-Royce celebration at The Quail and Monterey Car Week, one of the hallmark annual gatherings for global luxury collectors worldwide.

“Michael is a true patron of our Rolls-Royce Bespoke artistry. He has continually brought us color challenges ranging from exterior finishes to perfect color matching for a variety of materials throughout his creations. For more than a decade, my team has never failed to deliver for him and the brand. He has created a collection of Rolls-Royce Motor Cars that will grace the lawn of Pebble Beach and Concours around the world for the next century.” Torsten Müller-Ötvös, Chief Executive, Rolls-Royce Motor Cars.

Working with the Bespoke design and color development team at the Home of Rolls-Royce, Goodwood, Mr. Fux challenged the designers to match the exterior color to a vibrant orange ladies wrap that caught his eye in South Florida. He purchased the wrap and had it delivered to the Rolls-Royce Bespoke Collective. Working together for nearly a year, the teams delivered the perfect surface application of more than seven layers of finish polished by hand for multiple hours in the Surface Finish Center. The exterior even features black Cullinan wheels and pinstripe wheel centers in the bright ‘Fux Orange.’

The interior is decked in hand-crafted Arctic White leather with offsetting Orange stitching and Orange Rolls-Royce ‘RRs’ on the headrests. Arctic White is carried over to the luxurious box grain leather fascia, steering wheel control stems and carpets. The designers brought color contrast with ‘Fux Orange’ finished fascia veneer, rear-view mirror and lambswool floor mats. The contrast of white and color showcased the artisanship with exacting standards for the Rolls-Royce craftspeople.

Mr. Fux’s Rolls-Royce cars are the highlight of his collection including more than 150 of the world’s most unique and colorful motor cars. Arriving in the United States a young Cuban immigrant, Mr. Fux built a series of successful businesses in the bedding and linen industry. Today, he strives to give something back to the communities he has worked in. Since establishing Te Michael Fux Foundation in 2006, he has donated millions of dollars to enrich the lives of children stricken with serious illnesses. In addition to building the Fux Family Center at the Miami Children’s Hospital, Mr. Fux and his wife Gloria hold multiple events each year to sustain the center and entertain the children. The colorful collection of cars are used at fundraisers to raise money to benefit those in need.

2020 Range Rover Evoque AWD

City-dwellers rejoice! You have another compact vehicle to choose from for all of your summer events. Seating five people, the new 2020 range rover evoque AWD is here to fulfill your driverly needs. Right before this compact SUV hits dealers 360 Magazine had the opportunity to test out its functionality in one of the most dense urban areas in America – Los Angeles, California. With its curb appeal, sexy design edits on the new 2020 model – this car will be one of the top contenders within its market segment.


Price: $56,850

Design: 

The new 2020 Range Rover Evoque comes in nolita grey, seoul pearl silver or yulong metallic paint with a black contrast. There’s a massive pillarless and non-retractable moonroof that adds an element of spaciousness in the interior.  The steering wheel is duotone leather. As for the seats, they are 14-way adjustable and also made of leather. The seats come in ebony or cloud. This model stores up to three preferred seating positions in its memory. Branded tread plates and a trim finish are extra details included in this model. Some signature features that drivers can expect are 20 inch “5079” style wheels with dynamic 5 split spoke and a diamond turned finish that includes the land Rover logo in heart.

Tech:

The new interface and infotainment system is more sleek and dynamic than before. Other technological features included in this model design are: premium LED headlights. A touch pro duo feature allows drivers to view something on one screen while using other media as well.

Performance:

This Range Rover model has a 2.0L turbocharged 4-Cylinder Gas Engine. It also has a 9 speed automatic transmission with black gearshift paddles. Drivers have electric assisted steering as well as terrain response and terrain progress control. Hill descent is another available control feature. The mpg is 20 city/27 highway. This model also has 246 horsepower. The torque is 269 lb-ft. When you drive, this rover leaps forward. 

Safety: 

For the safety of the driver and their passengers, perimetric alarm and incontrol protect are included in this model. Of course, airbags are included both in the front and sides of the car. The tires have a  pressure monitoring system. ISOFIX system is included for child seat safety. Some control features are: traction control, dynamic stability control, and roll stability control. The breaking features are: emergency braking, anti-locking braking, and emergency brake assist. When driving, you have a rearview camera as well as lane keep assist and a driver condition monitoring system.

Cadillac XT4 AWD Sport

If you’re in the market for a new vehicle, maybe you should consider the 2019 Cadillac XT4 Crossover for one of your very own urban excursions. We decided to venture downtown LA to Chinatown in our test model. Just like this vehicle, there’s an unprecedented reaction to Howlin’ Rays (Tennessee style hot chicken) as it’s one of the first establishments of its kind within the metropolitan area.

Launched in 2018, it’s their smallest crossover and a hopeful competitor in its segment. It sustains its own against the Volvo XC40, Audi Q3, and Mercedes-Benz GLA.

Design: The aim of this model is v-shape inspired by crisp lines, sweeping arcs, and high-end appointments. Factory tinted windows allow for added privacy and UV protection against the harsh LA sun rays. But you also get a 360 view under the car, insignia displayed on the front, and a backup camera to view more of what’s behind you. Above you, is a dual panel retractable Sunroof/Moonroof, which allows more light to come in, making the vehicle feel roomier. Compared to its predecessor, the 2018 XT4, this new variation has more room for you and four other people.

Technology: Loaded with a vast amount of features which are comparable with many luxury manufacturers: Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, Satellite radio, WiFi hotspot, Bluetooth capability, rotary dials, and 8″ infotainment touchscreen. The 8-way driver and 6-way passenger seat controls made perfect sense after we shoved our faces and felt our sides begin to split. After all, who needs pants when you have an XT4?! Thanks to their elegant Bose audio system, with 13 speakers and tweeters, we were able to bounce some of the calories off from those extremely spicy french fries from Howlin’ Rays that brought us to tears. My dear Lord!

Performance: Just as significant as the aesthetic and feel of the car is its agility. Its 2.0L 4-cylinder engines are peppy, to say the least, cranking 237hp with 258 pound-ft of torque. Clocking in at an EPA-estimated 29 mpg on highways, this model is a front wheel drive with an all-wheel-drive option. This is also an advantage over the previous year’s XT4 model which weighed 15lbs more. Moreover, on that point are also selectable driving modes with paddle shifters. This new model possesses 4-wheel independent suspension easily, offering a high-quality smooth ride which grips most terrains with ease. On an urban excursion to Chinatown in downtown Los Angeles, we accidentally climbed up onto the sidewalk rushing to pick up our mouthwatering Howlin Rays Nashville style chicken. We weren’t only stunned by the 2 hr wait in a block-long line, but the fact that we were perched off road. This vehicle may just be Pismo Beach worthy.

Safety: Now, of course, the honorable people at Cadillac care about your safety. Thus, this model comes well-equipped with airbags: front, knee, and seat side impact for the driver and their co-pilot (the front seat passenger). You also incur a head curtain for all outboard seating positions. In addition, this car has multiple alerts. Whether it’s for lane changing, the side blind zone, or rear cross traffic. This comes in handy to avoid dings and scratches to its beautiful 18″ 10-spoke alloy wheels. Overall, the braking was decent, but not as sharp as other competing models at this price point.

Other specs: Fuel tank capacity for the 2019 XT4 sits at 15.9 gals. This car’s carbon emission is at 6.8 gals per year at 15,000 miles per year. It too has an air filtration system in the cabin and a powered universal tablet holder.

In short, the 2019 Cadillac XT4 AWD Sport is a match made in heaven for an emerging influencer, a youthful mid-level executive and/or an adventurous individual on the prowl for some of the best eats in a major metropolis area. Of course with a few friends in tow. The model we tested was $55,735 and it was worth every cent.

Chevy Traverse

From the American brand that is most widely known for its industrial and rugged trucks, we are given the all new 2019 Chevrolet Traverse High Country. Based on size alone, the Traverse has always excelled at hauling both people and cargo, and with it’s non minivan-esque appearance, it provides the look of sophistication and poise.

The new Traverse is square-jawed and truck-like and loses none of its usefulness in the 2019 makeover. In addition, its readily available high-end goodies push the envelope in the big three-row crossover upmarket. Its V-6 engine has been proven time and time again to be both extraordinarily powerful and fuel efficient. The Traverse’s suspension provides a compliant ride while maintaining its composure in corners. The turning radius for this large of a SUV is unbeatable. When parking or maneuvering at low speed, the Traverse feels every bit its size. Pick up the pace, however, and this bigger Chevy feels smaller than it is—poised, if not remarkably agile. Steering effort is low, but the system is precise and makes aiming the big SUV easy. The Traverse’s suspension is tuned for a good balance between handling and ride comfort.

Features

Firstly, one of the most important overall features of the vehicle is the potent V-6 engine which gives the Traverse its robust power and the slick-shifting nine-speed automatic transmission changes gears smoothly and unobtrusively. The traverse also includes perhaps the most seamless automatic stop/start feature on the market today.

As far as the engine goes, the time-tested V-6 generates 310 horsepower, with an incredible 266 pound-feet of torque. The acceleration (0-60 in 6.7 seconds) is not only a full second faster than the previous version, but also makes the vehicle one of the fasted accelerating vehicles in the full-sized, heavy-duty SUV class. That’s accompanied by an efficient nine-speed transmission that is as impressively tuned as the suspension. The average of 27 mpg is not surprising given Chevy’s history making fuel efficient vehicles.

In addition, the blind-spot monitoring is an excellent feature given the SUV’s larger size and the forward-collision warning is great added feature as well. Perhaps one of the most anticipated, highly-advanced features, however, is the lane-keep assist technology implanted into the brains of the vehicle.

Safety

Earning a five-star rating from the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, this cruiser has more than adequate perks to protect your passengers. Braking is firm and reactive. The rearview mirror camera improves the field of vision by 300% and after getting some used to, makes the driver feel more confident during heavier traffic hours. And of course, AWD allows the vehicle more traction during precipitation and elegantly claws corners.

Interior

Not only does the Traverse feature a new and contemporary infotainment system, but also a more refined cabin with an abundance of cup holders and USB ports throughout the cabin. The cabin is so insulated that the drivers have noted that the tachometer is needed just to ensure the engine is running while at a stoplight. Our vehicle came with dual panel sunroof (retractable) and moonroof towards back (non-retractable), adding additional light inside once shades are drawn and making the overall cabin feel voluptuous. Our model tested possessed a white coat perfect for our after-Christmas drive and the deep camel-colored leather (with ‘High Country’ insignia headrests) made it feel rich and sultry.

At the center of the infotainment system is the 8-inch, high-mounted touchscreen which is simple and equipped with colorful graphics, and standard Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. To top it all, the vehicle includes a 4G LTE WiFi hotspot. It quickly responds to user inputs and seals the deal for the tech-savvy.

Comfort and Storage

The 2019 Traverse is a full-size three-row crossover SUV that is positioned below the larger, heavier-duty Tahoe and above the smaller framed Equinox. Drop all of the Traverse’s folding seats and it becomes a cargo-hauling champ with more space than any of its rivals. Six carry-on suitcases fit behind the third row, which means it wins at carrying both people and their luggage. It offers the most first-row cubby storage in its class as well. The second and third rows can accommodate adults comfortably, Unlike its predecessor, this latest-generation Traverse is more than just a minivan alternative.

Conclusion

At approximately $53,200, the Chevy Traverse is one of the most remarkable larger crossovers in the history of the modern SUV. It truly has the appearance of a family-oriented vehicle and yet the sleekness of a luxury SUV. The comfort and the technology implanted in the interior of the vehicle create a versatile vehicle perfect for a low-key urban excursion or a family cross country road trip. In short, Chevrolet has mastered a vehicle that is truly a force to be reckoned with and will treat its owner well for its life-span.

Jaguar I-Pace: One for the History Books

Possibly no one expected Jaguar to start producing and manufacturing electric vehicles. However, with the rapid onset of consumers searching for an influx of electric powered automobiles, it is not surprising the illustrious British brand provided its very first, all-electric vehicle. Moreover, to the world’s surprise, the antecessor to the Tesla’s Model X, did not emerge from one of the top European mega brands such as BMW, Mercedes-Benz, or Audi. Instead the Whitley, Coventry based Jaguar Land Rover, which has been manufacturing gasoline vehicles for over 80 years, has now effortlessly executed a lavish battery-only SUV.

The brand new Jaguar I-Pace is like no other. Once only rivaled by the Tesla Model X, this fully electric SUV is one of the first of its kind due to its groundbreaking features. First of all, compared to the majority of other electric vehicles on the market today, the I-Pace is powered by a 90 kilowatt hour battery that delivers an exceptional 240 mile range, which could outrun over 90% of the fully electric vehicles on the road today. The one-of-a-kind battery has a superb charge time. A typical kW DC charger can power the vehicle 0%-80% in 85 minutes.

Secondly, the I-Pace’s near silent acceleration and smooth braking are just a couple of the safety features included in the vehicle. The general handling of the vehicle and cornering ability only adds to the value of the car by creating a smooth, highly controlled turn on any surface. In addition, the stiff steering makes the car feel heavy and capable. The wider 22” tires along with all-wheel drive allows the SUV to claw windy roads with ease. The two different breaking modes included in the Default Regenerative Breaking system regenerate energy by efficiently converting available kinetic energy to electricity to charge the battery and extend the range. By selecting the “High” regenerative mode as opposed to the “Low” regenerative mode, it enables an intuitive single pedal driving in many conditions. Hood scoop, flush retractable door handles and back spoiler enhance air flow with a .29 drag coefficient. This feature tops many sports sedans and cars in their stable.

The I-PACE also includes a 3-mode system which alters the driving experience. Specifically, the modes of the vehicle including “Dynamic Mode,” “Comfort Mode” and “Eco Mode” – each of which accurately controls the vehicle in a different way. Dynamic Mode sharpens the throttle and steering responses, while firming up the suspension system for more precise handling. While the Comfort Mode can be used for less-spirited or day-to-day driving, the Eco mode reduces battery load by adjusting the climate of the battery cells with safely heating or cooling while eliminating any other non-essential systems. Each mode, changes the color of the ambient lighting inside the vehicle. These modes are yet another wonderful feature that adds to the pleasant user experience.

Furthermore, the vehicle’s exhilarating driving dynamics with its 394 horsepower and 512 lb-ft torque, produced by its twin electric motors (one at each axle), and its AWD, provide an experience that many drivers will enjoy.

The car is packed with ample road presence and turns heads wherever you go. Its bold, muscular, yet sensual lines make it aesthetically pleasing. This is a true driver’s car.

The Interior

Inside the cabin, the I-Pace comes loaded with an abundance of technology and safety features. Top notch infotainment system alongside of impressive appointments will impress most who step inside. The tempered glass and massive panoramic sunroof create an even more roomier and cozy environment for stargazing. The 825 watt Meridian sound system provides a concert-like experience. Of course, the vehicle also includes interior control panels and digital dials that are all extremely simple and easy to operate.

Comfort and Storage

Beyond it’s impressive all-electric range, its spacious and elegant cabin provide comfort for up to 5 people with ergonomic seating with ample storage in the trunk and, as an added feature, the I-Pace also sports space under the hood as well (aka a frunk). All in all, the total storage rivals that of today’s minivans. This attribute makes the I-Pace great for small families.

Conclusion

The Jaguar I-Pace is one for the history books. The vehicle is extremely difficult to find fault with. It truly has the appearance and spirit of a Jaguar. The comfort and the technology inside the car, as well as its sleek design, create a versatile vehicle perfect for an urban excursion or a local road trip. At $93,000 fully loaded, it’s a force to be reckoned with. This extremely driver intuitive elegantly designed SUV is perfect for a modern family and/or a top level executive.

Ansel Elgort Tests ‘Baby Driver’ Skills in Jaguar’s Electric I-PACE

All-new Jaguar I-PACE set to make North American debut at the New York Auto Show

Hollywood actor Ansel Elgort has put his driving skills to the test behind the wheel of the all-electric I-PACE to take-on the Jaguar Smart Cone Challenge.

Proving his driving skill was more than a camera trick, the Baby Driver star got a taste of the all-wheel drive agility and instant torque of Jaguar’s first electric vehicle (EV).

Filmed at Seret Studios in Brooklyn, ahead of the I-PACE’s North American debut at the New York International Auto Show (30 March to 8 April), the industrial, dock-side location was the ideal place to demonstrate the speed and flexibility of the performance SUV.

For his role in Baby Driver, as a highly skilled heist getaway driver, Ansel was taught by some of the best stunt drivers in Hollywood and performed a number of stunts himself making him the perfect choice for the Jaguar Smart Cone challenge.

Ansel said:

“In Baby Driver I did approximately five of the stunts myself, mainly the ones where people weren’t in the car with me so I learned a lot of tricks on set. This challenge was completely different, it looked simple at first but once you’re out there it’s hard to anticipate where to go next. I’ve driven a lot of fast cars on set but the speed of the I-PACE really took me by surprise, it took off as soon as I hit the pedal which made the whole challenge more interesting. I could have driven on there all day trying to beat my own times!”

The Smart Cone course, likened to the sports agility training game Batak, uses wireless technology to randomly illuminate pairs of cones to set out a different route each time. With millions of different potential options taking place in real time, the technology provides a unique test of driving skill, precision and reactions.

Ansel follows in the footsteps of fellow actor Nicholas Hoult and Formula 1 driver Romain Grosjean, who have previously taken on the twists and turns of the Smart Cone Challenge in the Jaguar XF AWD R-Sport and XF, respectively.

As of late, we had the opportunity to test drive a pre-production QX50 during a three-day press launch at West Hollywood’s newest boutique property, La Peer Hotel.

The days are slowly fading, at least in the automotive industry, where bigger isn’t always better. The biggest engines, the most valves and absurd fuel consumption aren’t necessarily needed to create fast responsive engines. For Earth’s sake, this is a very economical and environmentally friendly path to take. Less fuel consumption while improving power output is the wave of the future and Infiniti is one of many leading the way. The newly redesigned 2019 Infiniti QX50 stocks a VC-Turbo Engine with all-new DriverAssist technology and lightweight skeleton.

Let’s start with the heart of the vehicle -the engine. What’s important to note is how much more economical the VC-Turbo Engine is in comparison to the 2017 QX50 and its stiffest competitor, the Lexus RX. The newly designed engine is a 2.0 liter turbocharged 4-cylinder which produces an impressive 268 horsepower @ 5,600 rpm while creating an astonishing 280 lb-ft of torque @ 1,600 rpm. This means quicker acceleration and consistent pull through the entire power band. The QX50 is able to stretch a gallon of fuel up to 27 mpg city/hwy which is a 35% increase in fuel economy from the previous model, making it the most economical vehicle in its class. The Lexus RX comes in 4 mpg less while also lacking in the torque department. Infiniti for the win!

Complementing fuel efficiency is its all-new lightweight platform. The frame only weighs 923.7lbs and the weight-to-size ratio is the best in class. Designed from high tensile material it enables the car to resist flex, vibration and reduces noise pollution inside the cabin for a more luxurious ride. Now fitted with McPherson suspension, commonly used on BMW, the QX50 is ready for spirited driving. Furthermore with the increased structural integrity, the suspension appears to be more responsive, providing the driver with greater control and cornering.

When it comes to safety, there’s one thing which comes in mind – how well does it stop? Infiniti added a new braking system designed for control under most conditions. The vehicle is fitted with ventilated front brakes which are larger than the previous model, measuring in at 13 inch in diameter. Moreover, a new brake booster and tie rod system has been added to reduce the need for higher brake pedal pressure. Depending on customer preference, there are two wheel/tire and two drivetrain options available. The tires come in 19 inch wheels with 235/55R19 tires or 20 inch wheels with 255/45R20 tires – both available in run flats and reinforced rubber sidewalls to allow up to 93 miles with reduced air pressure. For the drivetrain, one can choose between the intelligent AWD or the standard FWD. Better grip, braking and handling attributes can be expected with the AWD upgrade.

The exterior stays true to Infiniti’s “Powerful Elegance” language. Several features set this model apart from its predecessors. It’s overall sculpture is influenced by aerodynamic efficiency which adds to the muscular yet sleek design of the crossover. Every curve (mostly on the hood) and shape of the QX50 is fully functional, improving its drag coefficient by 6%. The front fascia boasts its usual distinct double arched grille. Furthermore, it is equipped with the signature LED headlight design that gives an appearance of an intense stare-down. Slightly sitting higher with larger wheels, you are reminded, ‘its more than just a good look but a sporty companion.’

Ergonomics are apparent inside the cabin. Upfront are two zero-gravity NASA seats alongside of a passenger-minded asymmetrical architecture, allowing both driver and passenger to feel connected and co-operative. On the dash board sits the InTouch infotainment center featured on dual screens for ease and convenience. It allows passengers to stream media from handheld devices via Bluetooth – including music ,texts and photos (Apple CarPlay and Android Auto are not yet available). The Bose Performance Series audio system is designed specifically for the QX50’s underpinnings to produce optimal sound quality. It’s loaded with 17-speakers and delivers an unmatched audible experience. Above head is panoramic moon/sunroof which stretches from the front to back seats complete with a motorized blackout curtain. It enhances the roominess, especially for backseat passengers who wish to stargaze. Also in the rear is a sliding rear bench which alters both legroom and cargo room for whichever is needed most. The quilted seat packages offer a bespoke feel coupled with ultra suede middle console, pillars and headliner. Moreover, manually retractable rear window nets offer additional privacy as well as sun protection when paired with factory tint.

Driver connectivity is further enhanced with ProPilot – a feature which allows single lane driving assistance. This helps with driver fatique during bumper-to-bumper traffic and long drives. As the name implies, this patented technology assists the driver in identifying road hazards as well as other drivers which could potentially cause accidents. Moreover, ProPILOT also helps manage acceleration, braking and steering in single lane travel. For whatever reason, when activated it makes both the steering and brakes feel firm and tenacious. We tested it on the whiny roads of Muholland Drive; and it practically drove itself even while descending (activation normally lasts upto 20 secs or until it falls back in between the 2 lines). In addition, the newly introduced heads-up display in lower windshield allows the driver to fixate more on the road and less on the navigation. Also works well with polarized eyewear and shades.

In short, the 2019 Infiniti QX50 AWD fully loaded model prices just under $60,000 which isn’t quite so bad considering the brains of this bodacious beauty. Not to mention, the overall performance is extremely desirable and nimble at times. This is an amazing buy for a millennial executive with room for a modern family or empty nesters with a few adult children in tow.

2018 JAGUAR F-TYPE 400

For 2018, Jaguar is introducing a genetically enhanced version of its already popular F-Type series – the 400 Sport Coupe Special Edition. At first glimpse, the vehicle immediately appears to be a part of the family, yet subtle differences cause it to break away from the battalion. 

Although the F-Type didn’t call for a redesign, they redefined excellence with a one-year-only configuration. This limited version exhibits tons of sporty appointments which hint nifty performance gains to be anticipated as well. The 400 Sport is featured in three different metallic colors: Yulong White, Indus Silver and Santorini Black. It arrives in two different drive trains – AWD and RWD. Lastly, one can select between a convertible or coupe. 

As of late, we had the joy of testing out the Indus Silver two-door AWD (allowing it to grip and corner with ease). While approaching the vehicle head-on, you are at once enthralled by its bespoke elements – stealthy accents on the grille fitted with an audacious front splitter adorning “400 Sport” in bold yellow.

While orbiting the vehicle, we gained an admiration of its contoured yet nimble stance. Some of the new additions included blade-like extended side sills and prominent front/rear splitters which shout, “I am fast as I am athletic.” It squats on 20″ Dark Satin alloy wheels that come to a stop with Super Performance 380mm front and 376mm rear brakes (currently, an upgrade featured in the 400 Sport). With a wheelbase of 103.2,” ground clearance of only 4.1″ and a length of 176.5,” you can be reassureed that this vehicle was built to track (very little drag coefficient w/ automatic retractable spoiler). 

The F-Type 400 Sport possesses the most agile V6 offered in the series, until now still doesn’t measure up to the R (V8 550hp) and SVR (V8 575hp)’s performance. It’s the difference between a Ferris wheel and a roller coaster (less scream factor). Nevertheless, this 3.0L V6 400PS supercharged engine delivers 400hp with 339lb-ft of torque alongside of an 8-speed gearbox. It’s 20hp faster than its forerunners. Most of it is felt in the top end which makes it worth acquiring. This increase in power also enhances the already invigorating exhaust that’s expelled through the trumpet-like tips. Letting off the gas at high RPMs (5000+) will make the car backfire – crackling and popping like a 4th of July fireworks show. Don’t fret, though. As prevalent in former models, Jaguar wanted to make certain you don’t upset the neighbors by adding an option to tame it with the press of a button. 

Inside the cabin, your eyes are drawn yet again to the vibrant yellow emblems, “400 Sport” tastefully planted: the steering wheel; console finisher; embroidered headrests and tread plates, reminding you of the anomaly of which you have. In addition, slimmer premium leather performance seats improve dash to backrest space, creating a racier ambiance. For the foremost time, there’s a flat-bottomed sport steering wheel accompanied by anodized aluminum paddle shifters ergonomically placed for aggressive driving. Next, you’ll discover the beautifully black-coated aluminum center dash baring a touch screen infotainment system which allows you to navigate, choose your favorite station and/or Bluetooth to your smart devices.  

The 2018 Jaguar F-type 400 Sport Coupe Special Edition is definitely something special. Aside from all the jaw-dropping signature patches, it offers exclusivity to the owner because of its minimal production, unique performance and cosmetic upgrades. This makes it a well-balanced vehicle of choice for those seeking something snazzy without the hefty price tag.  

In short, we forecast this to become the affluent millennials’ two-seater select for 2018.  

2017 RANGE ROVER EVOQUE CONVERTIBLE

There’s no question that the Land Rover is a hallmark manufacturer synonymous with traversing over the Earth’s most spartan deserts, tundras, jungles, badlands, city streets and/or country backroads with grace and elegance. The brand best known for building competent off-road luxury SUV’s with tremendous success is testing their hand in the cabriolet SUV segment with the new 2017 Range Rover Evoque Convertible. Birthed with the history and pedigree to back up its performance capability plus nothing but evocative styling to come across the eye – looks like they got a winner on their hands.  

This Range Rover takes a pretty healthy punch of accolades as standard; and jeez, do they ‘swing for the fences’ – an electronic rear differential, active torque biasing system, AWD with an active driveline and an all-terrain response system for sand, snow, gravel or mud situations. In the toughest of situations, watching over the mechanical hardware’s every move are active electronic systems which control everything from brakeforce distribution, torque vectoring, hill descent, stability control and roll. Essentially, it possesses the goods to overcome a majority of previously thought impossible scenarios. 

The Range Rover Evoque Convertible has a strong hunkered down stance over the road. The Yulong white color scheme looked fit for a Stormtrooper (Star Wars); and retracting the roof (acoustic insulated top folds flush in just 18 seconds at speeds of up to 29mph) will win the “wo/man of the show” award, which we won while stuck in Hollywood traffic. 

Leisurely cruising around in a convertible SUV was as blissful as it sounds, but this Range Rover aggressively moves for it’s size with frisky acceleration sprints. Hat’s off to a very dynamic 240hp turbocharged engine mated to a 9-speed automatic transmission which brilliantly disguises overall body mass. Darting around Los Angeles in the Evoque is no different than whipping around in a BMW 3 Series. 

Boosting overall stimulation inside the cockpit is a 660 watt Meridian Audio system with full Bluetooth connectivity and navigation system. The Evoque is a moving off-road lounge with configurable ambient interior lighting to set the mood on your expedition. We found our comfort levels equal with the top up or down thanks to dual zone climate control systems and milky oxford leather seats. 

For just under 60K, the 2017 Range Rover Evoque Convertible mimics the driving feel of both the Hummer H1 and BMW 3 Series – it’s quite magical.

JAGUAR F-TYPE R CONVERTIBLE #TBT

Every few years or so, a car company fabricates a phenomenon. Over the past three seasons, one of the automotive industry’s proven loudest leaders is the 2016 JAGUAR F-TYPE R Convertible for a myriad of reasons: it’s stunning blueprint, progressive transmission and obnoxious exhaust (loud and unapologetic). Coming in at around $111,245 bucks, you are simultaneously propelled into both the modern-day muscle car and luxury market segments – pushing 0 to 60 mph in under 3.9 seconds with more bells than whistles (one of the more advanced technology packages in its class). It’s 550hp 5.0 liter supercharged V8 engine bears a true sports car experience with 502 lb-ft torque, jolting heads back and forth. Furthermore, it stops at the bead of a dime with a super performance braking system – one of the best in the story of its maker.

The overall styling of the vehicle is reminiscent of the 2015 Aston Martin V8 Vantage but has a more aggressive stance with sharper lines, 20″ alloy wheels, xenon integrated headlamps with LED signature and cannon-like quad exhaust tips. This year’s model offers a much more exhilarating ride with standard AWD, allowing better cornering and less slip in wetter climate regions. Interior has carbon fiber trim, two-toned race inspired 14-way adjustable performance seats with prominent stitching and James Bond-like air vents sink down flush into the dashboard with dual climate controls and seat heaters. Fully electric cloth top retracts in less than 12 seconds, leaving just enough trunk space to stow one fully packed overnight rolling bag and weekender duffle. This year’s model also comes well-equipped with a much faster infotainment system complete with navigation and active settings for steering, engine and suspension at the touch of a button for a firmer ride experience. The sport mode takes the car from touring mode to race car-like experience in a matter of seconds with pedal shifters behind a 3 spoke chunky wheel that heats for a cool day or night driving. Or, you can left push 8-speed quickshifter into sports mode for a more manual drive atmosphere. The crackling exhaust coupled with the occasional pop at the tinge of a button was music to our ears. 
Furthermore, the general design profile slightly metamorphoses at 50 mph when rear fin automatically deploys (also causes a switch in the middle console to trigger). Wind noise was cut by a 770W Meridian audio system with 12 speakers, bolting out your favorite satellite or Bluetoothed Pandora station. There’s very small room for road/lot distraction with blind spot warning, emergency brake assist and backup sensors/camera for parking. 

We took the car for a long 4.5 hour drive from Los Angeles to Las Vegas with top down and found it to be the most comfortable ride largely due to the climate package. Even with a light drizzle, the new drive train exhibited little to no slip at high velocities. The roadster’s pure aerodynamics forced condensation to flow over our heads and not to enter the cabin while all windows were cast upward. Upon arrival at Aria Hotel & Casino, we unpacked and packed on a few rounds of blackjack; then decided to re-engage our glacier white colored car, hopping back into the cockpit for a nightly drive on the strip underneath the city’s coruscating lights.

Hands-down, the 2016 JAGUAR F-TYPE R Convertible is one of the most prolific automobiles of the millennial generation, specializing in extreme comfort, perfect execution and innovation. Kudos to Jaguar Land Rover of Tata Motors for engineering such a beautiful piece of artistic creation in motion.
