Get your dog’s A-Game back

Is your dog’s scratching more than “just an itch?” Actress and life-long dog lover Kate Walsh knows first-hand that dogs can be “off their game” because of allergic itching, leading to more serious problems if not treated by a veterinarian. Kate joins us today to share important info on how you can get your dog’s A-Game back.

As a lifelong dog lover, how did you know that Rosie was off her game?

Kate Walsh: She started scratching her face in sort of a cute way at first with both paws at the same time. And then it turned into a regular thing where it wouldn’t stop, and I realized pretty quickly it was probably allergies. So I took her into my veterinarian, and she prescribed Apoquel for Rosie.

How should we know when and if it’s more than an itch, and when it’s time for our pets to visit their veterinarian?

Kate Walsh: If the itching and scratching starts interrupting their regular daily activities — if they’re on a walk and they have to stop several times to scratch and itch or chew, or if they wake up in the middle of the night to chew, those are signs that there’s a problem. A lot of dog owners think oh, that’s just my dog itching but it’s likely allergies. If you see these signs, it’s a good idea to visit your veterinarian and see if Apoquel might work for you. It certainly worked for Rosie.

How should people with pets avoid allergies for some of their animals?

Kate Walsh: It’s hard to avoid allergens because so many allergies are environmental and are out of our control – just like humans with pollens or grasses, or during certain times of the year. For some dogs it’s seasonal allergies, some are perpetual and year-round. There’s really no way to prevent them so it’s about going to the veterinarian and seeing what they have to say. It’s also important to understand that dog allergies manifest differently than human allergies do. In dogs, allergies show as skin itching, chewing and hotspots – not coughing and sneezing like humans.

And how did you help Rosie get her A game back?

Kate Walsh: Well, I got her on Apoquel right away. Within a couple of days she was back on her A-game, happy, smiling, walking, tail wagging, able to relax and not scratching her face constantly. One of my favorite parts about this partnership is how we’re encouraging everyone out there to go to MyDogsAGame.com or use the hashtag #MyDogsAGame on social media to share a picture of your dog. For every photo uploaded, Zoetis will donate $10 to the K-9 Courage Program, which is an awesome program that provides medical services to retired service dogs, military service dogs, police service dogs. So that’s a really exciting aspect of this partnership as well. We’re not just raising awareness about what dog allergies look like, but really contributing and making sure all dogs are well cared for.

And what inspired you to represent an organization to help Canine Courage?

Kate Walsh: I love dogs. I’ve always loved them. I’ve grown up with them–they’re just so special and intuitive. I’m also a big fan of our service men and women and everything that they do for our country – so the partnership was a perfect fit. Most people don’t think about how retired service dogs are cared for, and the fact that the K9 Courage program helps support the medical care for retired service dogs is really cool.

So you’ve always been an advocate for pets?

Kate Walsh: Oh yeah. I have always been a big pet adoption advocate and an animal lover. I mean if I could, I’d be on a farm somewhere with lots of cats and dogs.

And where can our listeners go for more information?

Kate Walsh: You can go to MyDogsAGame.com If you have any questions, there’s actually a short quiz on there as well to help you determine if your dogs may have allergies, as well as more information about finding the right treatment like Apoquel.

About Kate Walsh

Actress, dog lover and animal rights activist Kate Walsh can be seen on recent and upcoming projects, including Netflix series, THE UMBRELLA ACADEMY, and films, SELL BY and 3022.

Walsh has starred in award-winning series, including the ABC dramas GREY’S ANATOMY and PRIVATE PRACTICE, as well as the Netflix features 13 REASONS WHY. She was seen in Universal’s hit comedy, GIRL’S TRIP, alongside Jada Pinkett Smith, Queen Latifah, and Regina Hall, the Netflix feature, #REALITYHIGH and Sony’s MARK FELT: THE MAN WHO BROUGHT DOWN THE WHITE HOUSE. She also recently starred in the off-Broadway play IF I FORGET, for which she was nominated for a Drama Desk Award and Drama League award.

Today, Walsh has teamed up with leading animal health company, Zoetis, to educate dog owners about a cause close to her heart – allergic dog itch. Walsh has credited her two rescue dogs for helping her through the most difficult times, but when her dog Rosie was diagnosed with allergic itch, it was time for Walsh to help Rosie get her A-Game back. Like Rosie, some dogs are “off their game” because their allergic itch gets in the way of doing things they love. Kate is encouraging dog owners to recognize when their dog’s scratching can be more than just an itch – and if it’s caused by an underlying condition, like allergies. As part of the program and in honor of Itchy Pet Awareness Month, pet owners can share a photo of their own pet’s “A-Game” on social media using the #MyDogsAGame hashtag, which will trigger a $10 donation (capped at $25K) by Zoetis Petcare to its K-9 Courage Program, which provides healthcare assistance to retired military and police dogs as well as active service dogs that assist veterans suffering from post-traumatic stress. Posts using the hashtag may also be featured on an interactive gallery on the “MyDogsAGame.com” website.

SARAH JESSICA PARKER’S NEW WINE “INVIVO X, SJP”

SARAH JESSICA PARKER’S NEW WINE “INVIVO X, SJP” WILL HIT STORES ON SEPTEMBER 18, 2019

The Sauvignon Blanc will be Available Globally & is the First Wine to Launch from her Wine Collection with the New Zealand Winery

Actor, designer and wine lover Sarah Jessica Parker has announced today via Instagram that her new Sauvignon Blanc wine in partnership with the New Zealand-based Invivo & Co will hit stores this fall on September 18th, 2019.

With grapes from Marlborough, New Zealand “Invivo X, Sarah Jessica Parker Sauvignon Blanc” will have a suggested retail price between $18 – $20 and will be immediately available across the U.S. via exclusive national importer Taub Family Selections. At the same time, the wine will also have a global footprint in New Zealand, Australia, Japan, Canada, UK, Ireland andHong Kong.

I have thoroughly enjoyed the collaboration with Rob and Tim from Invivo,” explains Sarah Jessica Parker “Every part of the process from our initial conversations discussing wine styles, to the creative process on the brand and label design and of course, the Sauvignon Blanc blending session; it’s all been one exciting step after another. And a thrilling education in the business of winemaking, but more importantly, the love and passion behind Invivo.

The new Invivo X, Sarah Jessica Parker Sauvignon Blanc is described by Invivo’s co-founder & winemaker Rob Cameron as, “Lifted notes of grapefruit, honeysuckle flower, passionfruit and citrus zest. The palate is expansive and leads with a wall of sweet-scented fruits and a soft, but balanced acid spine.”

Sarah Jessica Parker’s wine was perfected in May when the founders of Invivo, Tim Lightbourne and Rob Cameron, traveled to New York City for a private blending session with Sarah Jessica to finalize the blend and taste of her new Sauvignon Blanc. They brought the latest samples of the 2019 vintage that was harvested in April from different sub-regions of Marlborough – the home of New Zealand’s world-famous Sauvignon Blanc. Over a three-hour session, Sarah Jessica and the Invivo team finalized the proportions from each vineyard to create the exact blending recipe used in the wine.

While I’m new to winemaking, the Invivo fellows generously taught, showed and shared as much of the art and science of their business and hopefully I have absorbed some of their Kiwi confidence,” states Sarah Jessica Parker“I’m so looking forward to releasing my Invivo X, Sarah Jessica Parker Sauvignon Blanc in September and sharing our wine with the world! I feel very fortunate to have this opportunity offered by Rob and Tim.

WATCH A SNEAK PEEK FROM THE SJP BLENDING SESSION HERE: https://vimeo.com/349806095/f0cc736d10

As a passionately creative person, Sarah Jessica Parker has naturally been instrumental in both naming the wine and designing the label. The X and the comma directly after it, is an intentional and personal touch, referencing her signature email and Instagram post signoff: “X, SJ.”   Sarah Jessica also hand-painted the X on the original label and found the teal paint to match the exact shade of one of her favorite satin shoe colorways, “Hamilton”, from her SJP Collection label.

Invivo’s other co-founder Tim Lightbourne adds, “It has been a pleasure working with Sarah Jessica. It’s fantastic how hands-on she’s been with the whole process and she has a great palate too! Within minutes into the blending session, she was picking up subtle differences between the samples. It’s a privilege for us, two old school friends from New Zealand and our winery, to work with her.  We look forward to a long-term partnership.”

In Spring 2020, a Rosé from the South of France will also be added to the Sarah Jessica Parker collection of wines with Invivo and will be a new vintage 2019 blend from the grapes being harvested this September.

This celebrity partnership is not unchartered territory for the growing New Zealand wine brand as Invivo & Co has also launched a successful wine brand with the UK talk show host Graham Norton. His brand debuted in 2014 selling 12,000 bottles in the first year and now today sells 3.5 million bottles globally. They have also recently extended his brand with the launch of Graham’s new pink Gin earlier this year. Invivo & Co looks forward to growing Sarah Jessica Parker’s collection of wine to reflect her personal preferences and love for wine similar to what they have accomplished with Graham Norton.

Invivo X, SJP” received its first review – just days after bottling – and landed a 95point rating from New Zealand wine reviewer Sam Kim at Wine Orbit.  Kim describes the wine saying: “The palate delivers excellent concentration and weight, wonderfully complemented by fine texture and brilliant focus.”

ABOUT SARAH JESSICA PARKER: Sarah Jessica Parker is the star and executive producer of “Divorce,” returning to HBO for a third hit season. In February 2014, she launched “SJP by Sarah Jessica Parker”, a footwear, apparel and accessory label, with partner George Malkemus III. The collection showcases the brand’s theme of colors acting as neutrals and encourages women to take risks and break away from fashion rules they imagine. Parker currently serves as the Vice-Chairman of the board of directors for the New York City ballet. She also served on the President’s Committee on the Arts and the Humanities under the Obama administration. Parker lives with her husband and three children in New York City.

ABOUT INVIVO: Invivo’s mission is to bring people together so great things can happen. Invivo has been described as “New Zealand’s most innovative winery.” Founded in 2008 by school friends Tim Lightbourne and winemaker Rob Cameron, Invivo set out to make great wine without the elitist attitude the industry can be known for, they believe that nothing should stand in the way of a great drink. 11 years later, the formula has been a success, with their wines receiving over 200 international wine show medals, distribution in 16 countries and sales of over 3,500,000 bottles. Invivo has also recently released a Gin brand in partnership with Graham Norton. Invivo has played a role in helping New Zealand become the 3rd largest importer of wine into the US (by value) behind France and Italy. USA is New Zealand’s largest export market for wine with $422 million USD in sales. This is an impressive statistic considering that NZ produces less than 1% of all the world’s wine. www.invivowines.com www.invivoxsjp.com

COMMON TO RELEASE NEW ALBUM LET LOVE

GRAMMY® Award-winning rapper COMMON will release his new album Let Love on August 30, 2019, his debut for Loma Vista Recordings.

Pre-order it HERE.

In tandem with this announcement, he shared his latest single and music video entitled “Hercules” [feat. Swizz Beatz]. On the track, he serves up his sharp signature wordplay between soulful backing vocals from Swizz Beatz. Meanwhile, the music video directed by Carrick [Weezer] sees Common thwart a convenience store robbery caught on surveillance camera—in between rapping into his iPhone. Vince Staples makes a cameo as the cashier.

Watch the action unfold HERE.

“Hercules” follows on the heels of the recent single “HER Love” featuring Daniel Caesar, special guest Dwele, and an unreleased beat from J Dilla. Not only did the song amass over 1 million cumulative streams and 339K views on the Savanah Leaf-directed music video within a week, but it also received widespread critical acclaim. VIBE called the song “a State of the Rap Union as he addresses the rise and expansion of hip-hop throughout the past 25 years.” Rolling Stone added that it was “Common’s homage to hip-hop”, and OkayPlayer professed that it’s “his most impactful body of work yet.”

Download “Hercules” HERE.

About the album, he shared, “This album is inspired by the book, “Let Love Have The Last Word” which gave me a path to write about things I had never written about before. It forced me to go deeper and because I opened up about so many things in the book, I was charged to go to raw, personal and spiritual places in the music. Production-wise, I knew that the music had to have depth, soul and dimension to it. I wanted the musicianship and the spirit of what live music brings, but it also had to have something raw and basement about it. When my team said, “You should do some music revolving around the book,” I just took that energy and went running into my artistry without focusing on anything else. No movies, no commercials, no parties (well, I don’t do that too much anyway) and I just worked on music. So this album is the culmination of this journey, this passion and this Divine Love that I have for one of GOD’s greatest gifts – MUSIC.”

COMMON will kick off his Let Love Tour, which starts in Denver, Colorado at Cervantes’ Masterpiece Ballroom tonight, and continues through marquee venues in the US and Canada before touring Europe for the first time since 2014. K-Syran performs

In K-Syran‘s Words:

What a week! From my shoot in a studio in London where I stayed 3 hours in a pool filming underwater shots in the beautiful Three Graces dresses, to flying to Malaga for my Manilva Pride gig.

Spain is beautiful with it’s gorgeous coast line and delicious food.
I arrived the day before so that I could get to enjoy swimming in the sea.
On the big day, Saturday, I was picked up by a lovely man who volunteered to help out. This is why I love performing for GayPride; it’s a celebration of love and everyone is so generous and helpful. The tech went brilliantly with super talented producer Dan Boots and team from Intimacy Records attending, checking sound and images. I didn’t get to meet my dancers but lucky to finally meet amazing Christian Lee Dun who organises Manilva Pride.

We were all picked up at around ten thirty, I was dolled up in my striking green K-Syran designer dress by renowned Zaid Farouki and jewlery by Esfir Jewels – I felt like a diva! There were thousands of people already attending cheering and having a wonderful time.

I had the best time ever on stage with them and the loving fun audience cheering us on. Such a thrill to perform my own songs live in front of an audience who are so warm and generous and to see them dancing to my tunes makes me feel that all the work I do is defiantly worth it!

THE PORTAL ASKS
As the doomsday clock ticks progressively louder: What would happen if 7 billion people meditated? Could it shift the trajectory of our planet?
THE PORTAL is an immersive, cinematic experience that answers the question: How can we really change the world?
Through heart-opening contemplation and shared experiences of transformation on a personal scale, with global implications, six ordinary people (and a robot) show how stillness and mindfulness can unlock personal change and ignite a planetary shift, providing hope to humankind.
“We are thrilled to be screening at Dances With Films and to give audiences around the world a first-look at THE PORTAL, a film that resonates strongly within the global marketplace, the entertainment industry, and our global community as a whole,” said Cronin. “THE PORTAL is a commercially viable film that raises the genre bar while remaining true to its core messageit’s a film for everyone.”
Filmed in the USA, Canada, Australia and a Syrian refugee camp in Jordan, THE PORTAL is richly visual and sonically powerful. Mesmerizing cinematography and the raw intimate stories draw the audience in, while the immersive soundscape breaks ground in film history with its use of binaural beats in an already evocative score.
“The result is like the casting of a gentle spell, an invitation to slip into a meditation and experience your own metamorphosis,” said former Ibiza DJ, Fifer. “We wanted to push the boundaries with this unique and transformational hybrid feature film experience.”
Tom Cronin is founder of The Stillness Project, a global movement to inspire one billion people to sit in stillness, daily. He is passionate about reducing stress and chaos in people’s lives. Tom’s ongoing work in transformational leadership and cultivating inner peace through meditation takes him around the world presenting keynote talks in such countries as Malaysia, Indonesia, Australia, Mexico and the USA; hosting retreats; mentoring clients across the globe; teaching in schools; writing books; hosting mindfulness courses in the corporate sector; and creating THE PORTAL film-book experience, all as part of his commitment to the current planetary shift.
Jacqui Fifer has had a dynamic career in the film industry line producing such films as Better Watch Out( 2016), The Osiris Child (2016) and Infini (2015) as well as producing the multi-award winning dramatic feature Concealed (2017). She also co-directed the 2012 and 2013 “Dones en Art” (Women and Film) festivals in Spain. Humankind is staring into an abyss, yet within us all we have the capability to bring ourselves (and our species) back from the brink. We’re part of a growing movement of game-changers to create a reimagined global futureI think people are ready for something different.”

“The timing couldn’t be better for a film like this.” Said Fifer. “We’re all grappling to find our way in an increasingly high-tech, sensorially demanding world and this film is an antidote: a visceral and sensorial experience for the viewer that actually moves them beyond the senses. Dennis Quaid is “Mr. Lonely”

MIDLAND TAPS DENNIS QUAID AS “MR. LONELY”

Acclaimed actor and singer/songwriter, Dennis Quaid, joins GRAMMY®-nominated trio MIDLAND for his most intriguing role to date – “Mr. Lonely.” Starring in the chart-topping Texans’ music video, it highlights their sense of humor and effortless vintage country style. “Mr. Lonely” marks the first release off the band’s highly-anticipated second album (Big Machine Records). Earlier this month, Variety exclusively premiered a trailer showing Quaid’s Mr. Lonely getting a little roughed up encountering some of the women from his past.

As a singer/songwriter, Quaid has hundreds of thousands of miles under his belt as a touring musician and continues to receive stellar reviews displaying equal ease with both originals and country standards with his all-star band, Dennis Quaid & The Sharks.

During a recent packed crowd at Billy Bob’s Texas, one reviewer noted how Quaid “delivered a memorable two-hour, 19-song set. The 64-year-old Quaid rushed onto the stage like a 20-year-old, and leapt into the crowd with his guitar during the second song to share some high fives, all without missing a note on his six string” (ILoveFTW.com).

Recently, Dennis Quaid & The Sharks celebrated Record Store Day by releasing their first-ever album, Out of the Box, on vinyl via Omnivore Records. Described by Quaid as “a junkyard of American music,” the A-side includes the original title track “Out of the Box” while the B-side features a rousing cover of Larry Williams’ hit “Slow Down.” Recorded at the legendary Village Studios in Los Angeles, the band’s debut album was released on CD and Digital last November to rave reviews.

On May 25, Dennis Quaid & The Sharks will open for Midland at their show in Westside Pavilion in Tuolumme, Calif.
