Today, in celebration of the first-ever live session at KCRW’s brand-new Annenberg Performance Studio, James Blake performed a seven-song live set, and spoke with KCRW Music Director Jason Bentley, on the station’s tastemaker music program, Morning Becomes Eclectic. Joined by bandmates Rob McAndrews and Ben Assiter, Blake’s live performance featured songs from his latest album, Assume Form, including the title track, “Barefoot In The Park,” “I’ll Come Too,” and “Don’t Miss It.” Blake also treated listeners and a live in-studio audience to his hit song “Retrograde,” as well as an encore of a stunning rendition of Joni Mitchell’s “A Case of You.”
Blake’s gorgeous live version of “I’ll Come Too” can be seen and heard HERE.
The critically acclaimed Assume Form features collaborations with Travis Scott, Metro Boomin, André 3000, Moses Sumney, and Rosalía. Blake, a founding member of the 1-800 Dinosaur label collective, was first introduced to the world with his self-titled debut in 2010. In 2013, he released his follow up, Overgrown, which earned him a Best New Artist Grammy nomination. His 2016 album The Colour in Anything was a bracing continuation of his work that bent the borders between electronic music, R&B, and U.K. soul. Throughout his career, Blake has established himself as both a highly respected solo artist and one of the music industry’s most influential collaborators, working alongside everyone from Frank Ocean, Travis Scott, Beyoncé, Kendrick Lamar, Jay Z, Oneohtrix Point Never, Mount Kimbie among others.

With “Go Loko” featuring Tyga and Jon Z, YG is looking at one of the biggest records of his career, as the single has topped over 40 million streams in its first two weeks out. The viral “Go Loko” video has over 20 million views to date.
The countdown to the release of 4REAL 4REAL kicked into high gear the night after Cinco de Mayo, at the outdoor stage of ABC’s Jimmy Kimmel Live, where YG performed “Go Loko” with Tyga and Jon Z. Watch their live performance HERE (which has earned almost 2 million views). YG then brought it to Miami, where he stole the show at last weekend’s Rolling Loud Festival. On Friday June 21st, YG is confirmed to perform at the BETX Experience alongside Meek Mill, as part of the 19th annual BET Awards.
YG recently made his ‘Boachella’ performance debut, as second bill headliner, over both weekends of the fest with guests 2 Chainz, Big Sean, A$AP Rocky, Ty Dolla $ign, and Tyga, hailed by the Los Angeles Times as “…One of the fest’s finest rap sets to date.”
The arrival of 4REAL 4REAL builds on the extraordinary year that YG experienced in 2018, centering on the August release of his third album, Stay Dangerous, Top 5 follow-up to his critically acclaimed Still Brazy (2016), hailed by the New York Times as “an artisanal, proletarian Los Angeles gangster rap record.” The certified gold album Stay Dangerous was preceded by its first official single release in June, the triple-platinum #1 smash “Big Bank” featuring Nicki Minaj, 2 Chainz and Big Sean, one of the biggest single successes of YG’s entire career.
The most dynamic “new” resort hotel on Israel’s Mediterranean shore town of Caesarea was unveiled, combining elegance and luxury with frissons of the playfulness, style, and sophistication evocative of Tel Aviv, one of the world’s hippest cities.
The Dan Caesarea abounds in dazzling Israeli art
The new Dan Caesarea lies 35 miles north of Tel Aviv, adjacent to the artfully preserved aqueduct and amphitheater of the Roman capital of ancient Judea, and to Israel’s only Pete Dye-designed golf course. It represents a head-to-toe transformation of the chic resort opened some 60 years ago by Baron Edmond de Rothschild.
The Dan Caesarea is a member of Israel’s most prestigious hotel group, whose King David Hotel in Jerusalem has been welcoming royals and presidents for 90 years. The redesigned Dan Caesarea sits amid 15 acres of newly landscaped gardens and offers 116 guestrooms and suites. The hotel is rich in contemporary Israeli art, with 15 monumental sculptures by the award-winning Israeli sculptor, Yaakov Dorchin, in the gardens, and works of art in the guestrooms created by the late Rita Alima.
The once sedate lobby is now Salon Bocca, with cocktails curated by Tel Aviv’s hip Suramare group. The multi-angle pool is bordered by the Limonada Bar (soft drinks and more cocktails) and within the swimming pool itself is Israel’s “first pool table in a pool.” A Greek Taverna is the ideal spot for poolside dining or taking an elegant picnic hamper into the gardens – along with the hotel’s more traditional restaurant. A shuttle service is available to the beach, five minutes from the hotel.
The Dan Caesarea – adjacent to Roman ruins, Pete Dye golf course, and the Mediterranean
“We’re proud to unveil a new Dan Caesarea,” says Ronen Nissenbaum, Dan Hotels’ CEO, “a concept conjured up by some of Israel’s most creative architects, designers and style-makers – who have managed to combine stylish guestrooms, fascinating art, a culinary experience with contemporary bars, all set in beautifully landscaped gardens that create a magical atmosphere.”
The complex $25 million project to create a post-modern luxury resort was headed by Daniel Federmann. Iconic Israeli architect Ilan Pivko reimagined all the public areas; and Roni Federmann, the project’s architect, along with Esti Robinson and designers Philippe Boulakia and Dikla Robinson, created a new and refreshing approach that connects the location with nature.
Bentzi Arbel, who is responsible for some of the leading concepts of the Tel Aviv culinary scene, created the concept of Happiness is Around, which describes the spirit of the resort from its design to the service.
Each guestroom opens from a private hallway and has been designed to ensure lightness and airiness. The unique balcony structure gives guests an open view with maximum privacy and a double seating area overlooking the grounds. Fine Italian walnut floors are set at an angle to the view and artist Tzachi Nevo created unique masks to adorn each room. Rooms are equipped with “Bluetooth gramophones,” mood lighting and 55-inch high-end TVs. Immense marble bathrooms have separate bathtubs and shower. All rooms are equipped with a well-stocked bar and a unique coffee machine complete with a selection of fresh coffee beans for grinding.
A corner of the lobby recalls Caesarea’s 2,000-year history
The renovated Dan Caesarea is the perfect location for families, as it provides a wide range of activities for all ages. The spirit of innovation did not overlook the guests’ children, as a new and unique Danyland has been created for a younger generation. This new complex, never seen before in Israel, was designed by Philippe Boulakia and Dikla Robinson, with a deep understanding of what today’s children enjoy, combining a selection of retro games and technological innovations. Among the attractions that the Danyland club offers are a unique aquarium; a world of dinosaurs that combines a classic sandbox with a 3D projection; and a wealth of possibilities for an exciting gaming experience.
There is a variety of sports activities on offer such as a basketball court designed with unique graphics, a soccer field, a tennis court, mini golf, table tennis and more.
Finally, the new Dan Caesarea would not be complete without a pampering spa complex. There are wet and dry saunas and a state-of-the-art gym with high-quality equipment connected to advanced systems. Six advanced treatment rooms offer an exciting and pioneering treatment menu.

New Timepiece Arrives in Translucent Case and Band with Premium Surf Data Tracking Capabilities
Today, Casio G-SHOCK unveils an all-new, limited-edition G-LIDE timepiece, in collaboration with professional surfer and G-SHOCK athlete, Kanoa Igarashi. Boasting superior functionality in surf data tracking and performance, the GLX5600KI-7 arrives in a translu1cent case with silver accents and boasts Kanoa’s signature on the case back, face and band.
The new watch is based on the G-LIDE GLX5600 which features a tide graph, an indispensable tool for surfers. The thin, square shape of the watch ensures that it does not obstruct the wrist while surfing. The GLX5600KI-7 features a semi-transparent body that evokes the ocean and is paired with a mirror finish face that gives the watch a simple, cool look. Igarashi’s “Kanoa” signature is inscribed on the upper center of the watch face and on the strap keeper and case back, as well as in illumination when the backlight is turned on.
At just 21 years old, the Huntington Beach, CA native has been in the professional surf scene for over a decade. Kanoa was an instant talent from the time he first jumped in the water at the age of 3, and by the time he was 11 he set a new record for the most victories in a single season. He has gone on to win a number of major surfing competitions and is currently a world-class professional surfer competing on the World Surf League Championship Tour at the top of the sport.
The new model features technical capabilities to match with Kanoa’s impressive surf skills, including Tide & Moon graphs and a Moon Age data that anchors the face of the timepiece, for anticipating tide and surf swell of the rider’s current location.
A video highlighting the collaboration timepiece has been created – watch here: http://bit.ly/G-SHOCKxKanoa
The new model also comes equipped with standard G-SHOCK technology such as:

Recovery plays a vital role in sport. It is necessary to prevent underperformance, overtraining, burnout, injuries, and illness. This is mainly due to the fact that athletes are subjected to ongoing physical and mental stressors while training in order to stretch their performance limits. However, it is important to balance such stressors with appropriate rest and recovery through the use of periodized approaches. Periodization programs are designed and implemented in sport to maximize the effects of physical and mental training over predetermined training cycles by varying key training variables such as volume and intensity.
The aim of these programs is to maximize long-term athlete development and peak performance during targeted competitions within identified periods or ‘mesocycles’ (e.g., hockey season, Olympic quadrennial). Each mesocycle consists of preparatory (e.g., off-season and pre-competitive season), competitive (e.g., regular competitive season), peaking (e.g., playoffs, national championship), and recovery (e.g., post-competition period prior to off-season training) periods or ‘microcycles’ that vary in length based on training objectives, athletes’ needs, and the amount of time available between peaking events. Issues often arise when periodization protocols are mismanaged and training responses are not properly monitored. For example, peaking may not occur if athletes do not respect built-in recovery activities (e.g., days off, sleep routine, naps, limited social media) as a result of fearing they will fall behind their competitors. Also, coaches who insufficiently pay attention to warning signs during high-intensity periods in which athletes require more time to physically and mentally recover can jeopardize athletes’ performance and health. The costs of poor or failed monitoring could be injury or illness, including low mental health and the onset of mental illness.
Athletes’ mental health reflects their psychological, emotional, and social well-being. Athletes who are mentally healthy are able to feel, think, and act in ways allowing them to work productively, reach their full potential and goals, enjoy life, contribute to their community, and cope with normal daily stressors. When stressors (e.g., physical, psychological) exceed athletes’ internal (e.g., resilience strategies) and external (e.g., parental and coaching support) coping resources, it can deplete them and lead to significant distress and impaired functioning. In other words, it can exacerbate an existing mental illness or trigger a new one. Symptoms to which coaches should pay attention when working with athletes include any significant changes in eating and sleeping patterns, isolation from others, unusual low energy/stamina, intense mood swings, decreased enjoyment and concentration, feelings of powerlessness and hopelessness, inexplicable pain, and difficulties performing daily tasks, to name a few. Coaches noticing such changes in athletes should intervene, particularly if these changes last more than two weeks.
This entails having a private, respectful, and empathetic conversation with struggling athletes by (a) asking them specific questions regarding observed changes (e.g., “I have noticed that you look more tired and withdrawn than usual, are you struggling at the moment?”), (b) offering support (e.g., “Your mental health is important to me, what can I do to help you recover and regain your strength?”), and (c) referring them to an appropriate mental health care provider if necessary (e.g., “I’m not a mental health expert but I am seeing signs that concern me; our team has access to a mental health practitioner and I’d like you to see this person to make sure you have the resources you need to cope and get back to your normal self”). Given the crucial role of rest and recovery in the management of both athletic performance and mental health, coaches should discuss with any struggling athletes the benefits of adding recovery periods in their training program or of taking a complete break to prioritize and help them restore their mental health.
