Surf Mesa and Gus Dapperton are enjoying a ride in the country until a car crash sends them on a detour to purgatory in the official video for their single Somewhere. Their spirits are drawn to an isolated house and a mysterious woman played by model/actress Havana Liu who lures them inside. Director Dane Ray (Nathan Bajar, Quiet Luke, Delicate Steve) teams up with director of photography Jesse Bronstein to evoke sleek 80’s thriller films that mirror the track’s pulsating out-of-body essence, using double dolly shots to simulate ghost-like movement. The video, which PAPER premiered earlier today, was shot in the historic town of Stony Point, north of New York City, where centuries ago, the Battle of Stony Point proved to be a turning point in the Revolutionary War.
