Midwest-bred, multifaceted rapper-singer-songwriter and the self-styled horrorcore master of hip-hop sKitz Kraven launches Season 3 of his highly anticipated and acclaimed “New Music Mondays” program starting Monday, January 6. New Music Monday has been a staple fan favorite for years and 2020 brings it back with vengeance. Keep watch and experience a new track every Monday on all platforms. Kraven will release a music video each month as part of New Music Mondays to give fans even more content to devour.
Kraven kicks off his #NewMusicMondays tradition with the first single titled ‘Bad Day.” He says, “If you’ve been a victim of the Monday blues or just a bad day overall, then this track will let you know that you are not the only one going through this.” As sKitz battles life of fame and money, he also relates to the general public by talking about fake friends and everyday struggles. “New Music Mondays are a New Year’s gift to the fans who have sustained me,” he adds. “I’m rewarding their loyalty and support the only way I know how—with more music.”
“If you mix Eminem, Lil Wayne, Gucci Mane, and Stephen King with a little bit of Tim Burton, you get me,” continues Kraven. However, with three full-length albums, including his most recent full-length, Hollow, and multiple smash singles—including his most popular single “That’s All,” which currently has over 5,416,000 views on YouTube and 6,793,086 streams on Spotify–sKitz is already on track to become something much bigger than “horrorcore.” Kraven could well deserve the sobriquet: the “Marilyn Manson” of hip hop.
Using rap music as a coping mechanism to handle his mental health diagnoses and to overcome addiction—which he discusses frankly and transparently in this video, sKitz’s lyrics can tend towards the raw and emotive, allowing listeners an escape of their own and feel solidarity that they aren’t alone in their struggles.
However, while some of his music may be heavy and grimy—much like the horror movies he grew up on and pays homage to in his music and videos—he’s also built his huge, fanatical following by being versatile with singles that delve into lighter, more mainstream genres including R&B love songs, hip-hop bangers and club mixes, including his previous singles, “Pardon the Interruption,” “Already Dead,” “Breathe” and “Starting 5.”
Kraven’s future plans include a live tour, news videos and a compilation album from the songs premiered on NMM Season 3.
