New Bars with Side Cars and (Not so) Traditional Tea Service. Aptly named for the temperature of annealing or ‘glass cooling’ ovens, Bar 960 opens at Hotel Murano in Tacoma, Washington – the epicenter of glass art in the Pacific Northwest. The newly-designed lobby bar takes its design cue from Murano’s glass tones and reflections throughout the hotel. A playful cocktail list whets patrons’ palate with “cocktails on draft,” Chai Side Cars and the ‘King Bee,’ infused with honey from Hotel Murano’s own rooftop hive. The menu largely features sharable plates including fresh shucked oyster, wagyu beef Bar 960 burger and dirty fries – it’s a PNW thing and utterly delicious. And while you’re in Tacoma, make it a walking tour and try other cocktail hot spots Devil’s Reef (aka tiki heaven), En Rama and Camp Bar. For Mother’s Day, take her for tea. In Portland, Traditional English Tea Service is served at Gracie’s in Hotel deLuxe weekly from Thursday to Sunday ($48 per person, includes glass of bubbly) featuring features custom-blended Smith teas, tea inspired cocktails and a traditional menu of tea sandwiches, house-made scones, jams, and pastries. Pets are also welcome here, complete with their own pet-friendly treats. At Headwater’s at The Heathman Hotel, Chef Vitaly Paley’s Russian tea experience includes flights of Vodka and traditional sweets like Zapekanka (Russian cheesecake). Tea service is available Saturday-Sunday, weekly, starting 12:00pm.
