On The Verge of Stardom: Q+A With Rising Female Rapper, Malaynah

You just released your new single ‘Outta My Face’ tell us about the inspiration behind this song.

The inspiration behind my new single ‘Outta My Face’ was my energy and positivity I have within me. I wrote that song to inspire others to have the same energy that I do and surround themselves with that same positivity as well.

You will be performing at the upcoming Welcome To The West music festival, how do you feel about being the only female rapper in the lineup?

Being the only female on the Welcome to the West lineup means so much to me. I get to represent all the ladies on this lineup with so many legends. It makes me feel pumped up and ready to show everyone what I bring to the table.

What are you most excited about for this performance?

I’m most excited to let my fans hear some of my unreleased music I’ll be performing.

Cardi B reposted your video where you freestyled over her track “Money” and it hit over 12 millions view on her Instagram. What was your initial reaction?

When Cardi B reposted my freestyle video, my initial reaction was “NO F****** WAY.” I couldn’t believe it. I was so happy and proud of myself. That day was just filled with all kinds of emotion.

We hear you began writing songs when you were 12 and secretly rapped in front of your bathroom mirror. When did you decide to share your talents in public and what made you decide to not keep it a secret anymore?

Performing in front of my family and getting the support I needed to actually put myself out there played a really big role with my decision to start posting my videos on social media platforms. Then when I got the response everyone in my family was telling me I was going to get, it made me just want to keep going.

What or whom inspired you to start rapping?

What inspired me to start rapping was the reaction I would get when I would perform. When people were listening to what I was saying, and shared that a line I wrote hit home for them. Their reaction was just priceless. So I figured, if I can help people get through something by my words, I want this forever.

What are you most excited about in your career right now?

Right now, I’m mostly excited about all the new songs and projects that are going to be dropping soon.

Do you have any new upcoming projects in the making?

Yes I have an E.P. that is going to be coming out very soon!

If you could have one dream dinner guest, who would it be?

If I could go to dinner with ANYONE, I think I would want to sit down with J. Cole.
