SMCU PALACE@KWANGYA’ TO BE BROADCAST GLOBALLY FOR FREE ON NEW YEAR’S EVE

FIRST-EVER SM SUSTAINABILITY FORUM TO BE HELD PRIOR TO CONCERT
SM Entertainment will hold its annual online global concert ‘2023 SMTOWN LIVE : SMCU PALACE@KWANGYA’ on December 31 at 8 pm PT/11 pm ET. The event will be available to watch on SM’s YouTube, Beyond LIVE, TikTok, Instagram, and more platforms worldwide.
The concert will feature performances by artists including KANGTA, BoA, TVXQ!, SUPER JUNIOR, Girls’ Generation’s TAEYEON and HYOYEON, SHINee’s ONEW, KEY, and MINHO, EXO’s SUHO, XIUMIN, CHEN, CHANYEOL, D.O., KAI, and SEHUN, Red Velvet, NCT 127, NCT DREAM, WayV, aespa, GOT the beat, and more, along with exciting collaborations and DJ sets.
Opening the event, SM leaders and soloists will collaborate on “The Cure,” the new title track from the winter compilation album 2022 Winter SMTOWN : SMCU PALACE, released December 26, which features a positive message of sustainable solidarity.
‘SMTOWN LIVE’ is SM’s global concert series that has been held in major cities around the world since 2008, as well as SM’s massive virtual country ‘MUSIC NATION SMTOWN’ through the 2012 virtual national declaration ceremony.
Meanwhile, SM will hold the inaugural SM Sustainability Forum, which will discuss climate change issues faced by modern society and the role of K-Pop and Hallyu (Korean Wave) in the sustainable development of the world, speaking with experts in various fields including culture, environment, and society.
The forum is a first-of-its-kind event among Korean entertainment companies, and will feature SM’s founder and Chief Producer Soo-Man Lee, Professor Jae Chun Choe, Sam Richards, Laurie Mulvey, Dafna Zur, and EXO’s SUHO. The event will be held prior to the concert at 7 pm PT/10 pm ET on December 31, and broadcast live on various platforms including YouTube, Beyond LIVE, TikTok, Instagram, and more platforms worldwide. SM will also share plans to host a “Tree-planting K-pop Festival” presented by Lee, and release a campaign song project starting with SMTOWN winter album double title track “The Cure” with a message of sustainable solidarity.
Meanwhile, SM formed an ESG (Environmental, Social, and Governance) working-level consultative body in May 2022, and is actively working on sustainability management by becoming the first Korean entertainment agency to join the U.N. Global Compact (UNGC) in June 2022, and publishing its first sustainability report in November 2022.
