Today, alternative / electro-pop band CANNONS have released the official video for their latest hit “Fire for You.” The visual, directed by Ryan Rundle, follows a broken-hearted bride, played by CANNONS front woman Michelle Joy, as she seemingly flees the altar with her best men (bandmates Ryan and Paul) and seeks comfort out on the town. In speaking about “Fire for You” with Idolator, CANNONS says: “This is a song about getting your heart ripped out and finding a sense of closure through the camaraderie of your friends (or bandmates). We were excited to finally have the opportunity to take a cinematic approach to define our sound visually with the help of Director, Ryan Rundle, Cinematographer, Corey Jennings, and Production Designer, Francesca Palombo.”
Lifted from their sophomore album Shadows, which was independently released in 2019, “Fire for You” is CANNONS’ first video release since signing to Columbia Records. The track reached #1 on The Hollywood Reporter’s Top TV Songs Chart in May following a sync in a pivotal episode of the NETFLIX smash Never Have I Ever. “Fire for You” has garnered over 10 million streams, received early radio support from KROQ LA, Alt 987 LA, SiriusXM Alt Nation, KKDO Sacramento and more, and was recently raved about by Elton John on his Beats 1 show ‘Rocket Hour.’
All at once, CANNONS recall warm memories, soundtrack the bliss of the moment, and gaze towards a brighter tomorrow. Originally formed in 2013, the band united lifelong friends and musical partners-in-crime Ryan Clapham [lead guitar] and Paul Davis [drums, keys] with recent Los Angeles transplant at the time, Michelle Joy [vocals]. Together they co-mingle handcrafted analog production, glossy guitars, and cinematic synth-craft with fluid breathy vocals and evocative lyrics threaded together by classic songbook poise. Generating over 20 million streams independently and landing placements on shows such as Ballers, Lucifer, Never Have I Ever, and many others, CANNONS continue to transfix audiences as part of the Columbia Records family with their classic approach to a modern sound.
