The Downtown Art Walk returns on Thursday, January 10th in the galleries and artist studios of Downtown Los Angeles! Begin your evening at the Spring Arts Collective inside The Last Bookstore at 453 S. Spring St., from 6-9PM. Enter the bookstore at 5th at Spring, and walk up the stairs to the mezzanine. Our team will be on hand to distribute free collectible Gallery Guides (maps), and share information on what to see and do throughout the evening! Worldbuilding is a group exhibition at DAC Gallery curated by Sarah Julig that explores a range of modalities through artists’ use of ceramics, digital animation, and mixed media to convey complex personal mythologies. The exhibition explores the contrasts between ceramics and digital animation, both in processes and historic lineages, exploring how contemporary artists use these divergent mediums to search their own internal narratives. On the January 10th Downtown Art Walk, The Hive welcomes the new year with the launch of “Hive Tarot 10″, featuring original tarot card artwork by 22 Hive artists from 2018 for the soon to be printed HIVE TAROT 10 deck. On the January 10th Art Walk, The Independent Theater will be the site of LA Story # 1, featuring live variety–style musical performances produced and curated by local artist and creative director Gail Zone. Zone. Performances begin with a Video Art Gallery, featuring the premiere screening of “Botany of Desire” by Sean Yang, followed by “Sand & Snjor” by Fridgeir Trausti Helgason, and additional videos by Jason Ruscio, and J-Walt’s Lucid Dreamscapes.
