Sky series, documentaries and faces: the preview of the new Riviera series, all the 1993 episodes and The Night Of in the presence of John Turturro, as well as four appointments with the great documentaries of Sky Arte
[Ischia, 19 June 2017] Eight days under the Ischia sky. Or rather, Under the Sky. So the section that the Ischia Film Festival built this year together with the satellite platform was baptized. A cross-over billboard involving Sky Arts and Sky Atlantic, but above all a whole new concept for the public. Non Binge Watching, a compulsive vision of a full-blown series, but a nightly evening event to enjoy on the big screen of two of Sky’s best series of the year. The Night Of, which will be accompanied by our IQOS Award for Career John Turturro, starring Rhiz Ahmed of one of the most beautiful surprises of the season, written and directed by Steven Zaillian and produced by HBO.
It comes from an idea of Stefano Accorsi 1993, a sequel of 1992 and we know already prequel in 1994. The story of the years of Tangentopoli and the ascent of Silvio Berlusconi has passionate the television audience who already awaits anxiously next season to find out what It will happen to Leonardo Night and other characters who go to Italy far away for 25 years, yet still so close.
There is also room for a great preview under the sky of Ischia, the first episode of Riviera, a series created by Oscar winner Neil Jordan, director of great movies such as The Soldier’s Wife and Vampire Interview. Played by Julia Stiles, a former partner of the serial killer Dexter in one of the most beautiful seasons of the series, Riviera is a surprising and passionate police series that will accompany the Sky Atlantic audience from July 11th. The appointment for the public of Ischia is set for June 29th.
There will also be space for four appointments with the great documentaries of Sky Art. It starts on Sunday June 25th with Why I’m a genius, the story of director Lorenza Mazzetti, founder of the British Free Cinema movement in the 1950s. The next day, on Monday, June 26, the Aragonese Castle Square will host Federico Buffa, who together with Sky Art Program Manager Guido Casali will present Graffiti in New York, a trip to the world of Big Apple writers. On Tuesday, June 27, will be the turn of Andrea Pazienza: to the extreme, a dutyful and felt reminder of one of the greatest Italian cartoonists, an extraordinary artist who died prematurely. Finally, on Wednesday, June 28, will be the Blow up of Blow up, a documentary that explores behind the scenes of Blow Up, the timeless masterpiece by Michelangelo Antonioni.
A very rich program that the artistic directors of the Ischia Film Festival Michelangelo Messina and Boris Sollazzo are delighted to have built in concert with Sky, a synergy that projects the festival in the future of the audiovisual product and the concept of the festival itself, which will always have to be More to meet the tastes and needs of an audience that is changing, as is changing the very concept of cinema, getting closer to 8-hour movies to be played at bets, but possibly on the big screen and sharing the experience .
