Troy (Zac Efron) and Gabriella (Vanessa Hudgens) first meet at the “Rock The House Contest” when they’re randomly chosen to sing together. Shy at first, Troy and Gabriella warm up to each other and deliver a rousing performance of “Start of Something New.”
Zac and Vanessa are both a-list entertainers to this day.
Before “High School Musical,” Zac starred alongside fellow Disney 2000s artist Jesse McCartney in “Summerland.” He went on to film box office toppers and favorites such as “Hairspray,” “17 Again,” “New Year’s Eve,” “The Greatest Showman” and most recently “Iron Claw.” Zac has been acknowledged for his work with several awards, including an Emmy®, MTV Movie Awards, People’s Choice Awards and many more.
Vanessa Hudgens released 2 albums on Hollywood Records, and has starred in several films and television shows, including “Spring Breakers” (with Selena Gomez!), the critically acclaimed “Tick, Tick…Boom!”, “Grease Live!”, “Rent Live!” and many others. She served as a judge of “So You Think You Can Dance” and has become a popular host, her personality lighting up the “Billboard Music Awards,” “MTV Movie Awards,” “The Met Gala” and the “Oscars®” red carpet live shows. Vanessa recently announced she and her husband are expecting their first child. Congratulations are in order!
Fun Fact: “Start of Something New” was performed in “High School Musical: The Musical: The Series” by Nini (Olivia Rodrigo), E.J. (Matt Cornett) and Gina (Sofia Wylie.) An acoustic version of the song was also recorded by Olivia Rodrigo and Joshua Bassett.
