Representing a palpable and powerful evolution, the track conjures the spirits of late nineties and early two-thousands R&B within a sphere of cinematic production cooked up by frequent collaborator and producer Stint [Banks, Santigold]. Over a minimalist hum, the artist’s seductive and show-stopping falsetto blazes brightly and brilliantly.
Additionally, he unveiled a stunning music video awash in dark blue hues for “Gentleman.” Built around tight angles and extreme close-ups, the physicality of the clip evokes the single’s energy and showcases what he calls, “My take on a nineties bedroom jam.”
“Gentleman” is Gallant’s first release since 2016’s full-length debut, Ology, which earned a GRAMMY Award nod in the category of “Best Urban Contemporary Album” at the 2017 ceremony.
