WHAT: Community leaders and supporters from across the nation will gather Saturday, June 9, at the Arnot-Roberts Winery in Healdsburg, Calif., for the start of the fourth annual Velo & Vines Century Ride along the rolling hills and valleys of the Alexander, Dry Creek and Russian River.
Brother and sister Leto (age 8) and older sister Nichole (age 9), two recent UnitedHealthcare Children’s Foundation grant recipients from Hopland, Calif., will announce the start of the race. UHCCF provides medical grants that help children gain access to health-related services not covered, or not fully covered, by their parents’ commercial health insurance plans. Since 2007, UHCCF has awarded more than 15,000 grants valued at over $40 million to children and their families across the United States. In California, children and families have been awarded over 300 grants totaling more than $760,000 since 2013.
UHCCF grants are funded by contributions from individuals, corporations and UnitedHealth Group employees. The 2018 UHCCF Velo & Vines Century Ride is hosted by the UnitedHealthcare Children’s Foundation, and sponsored by Arnot-Roberts Winery and Three Rivers Provider Network. All proceeds fund UHCCF medical grants. Since 2015, cyclists, supporters and sponsors of Velo & Vines Century Ride have raised nearly $325,000 for the foundation.
