Ford – “Farm-To-Car”

A recent podcast from 360 Magazine’s culture editor, Thomas Wilmer, details Ford Motor Company’s environmental sustainability efforts. Tom spoke with Janice Tardiff, Elastomeric Materials Technical Expert, and Deborah Mielewski Ph.D. to learn more about Ford’s green initiatives. Tardiff and Mielewski took Tom and his listeners on a tour of Ford’s Research and Innovation center where he would learn about the sustainable materials that are being used to manufacture organic auto parts. Ford is using plants, such as dandelions and agave, and recycled materials to fashion functioning car components that are visually appealing in addition to being eco-friendly. Tom was able to take some photographs during his tour of the facility, one of which depicts a pair of car seats that had been created using recycled plastic bottles. Ford’s strides toward developing a vehicle from sustainable resources is notable and important, especially considering the current state of the Earth.
