Disclosure – The Energy Minecraft Experience

With clubs closed for the foreseeable future and live music on pause, Disclosure continue to find new ways to connect with their fans. They’ve live-streamed from Guy’s house during their popular Kitchen Mix parties, hosted tutorials on Twitch, and partnered with Cercle to DJ from a cliff in Croatia, but on the release day of their ecstatic new album ENERGY, they’re inviting friends and fans to experience something even more unique. With the help of design collective Blockworks alongside Island Records, they’ve created an immersive meta-verse within Minecraft inspired by the vibrant world of their new record. Minecraft is one of the world’s most successful computer games with 126 million monthly active players. View the trailer for Disclosure’s ‘ENERGY Minecraft Experience HERE.

On ENERGY’s release date, August 28, fans can join Disclosure’s dedicated server in the video game and discover a square mile of rolling hills, roiling streams, and dark caverns, all of which come together in a stunning mosaic to replicate ENERGY’s earthy cover art. Deep in the caves under the land’s surface are three (literally) underground clubs inspired by iconic venues around the world, plus Guy Lawrence’s kitchen as seen in previous live streams. As players explore the realm made up of over 100 million blocks, they’ll have a chance to do some digital crate-digging, hunting for 13 hidden records including 8-bit reworks of some of the duo’s most-loved tracks.

The server will be live for a week, after which a version of the Minecraft map will be available for download. During that week, the land will evolve and change—a feature meant to echo the themes found on ENERGY, which deals in part with environmental concerns like reforestation and ocean repopulation. Like the record—which features hip-house ragers like the Aminé and slowthai-featuring “My High” alongside sunnier, uplifting cuts like “Douha (Mali Mali)”—the Disclosure Minecraft server is meant to be diverse and full of life. Never static, never simple.

In addition to scattering hidden songs around the map, Disclosure will also soundtrack the experience with a megamix featuring material from ENERGY and classics from across their catalog, offering fans a truly immersive way to experience this new chapter in their career.

A decade on from their debut single, Guy and Howard Lawrence are still finding new ways to fill their delightful dance tracks with euphoric new energies. Whether it’s through working with a vivid array of collaborators like Mick Jenkins, Channel Tres, Kehlani, and Kelis (all of whom appear on ENERGYamong many others), or pushing the boundaries of their textured productions, they’re constantly evolving, which is a huge part of what’s made them exciting to critics and fans alike. Even as much of the real world remains stuck inside, Disclosure are continuing to offer what they have since the very beginning: new worlds to explore.
