“Wave” was initially released as part of her EP titled “Great Escape” earlier this year.
Beautifully shot in a California landscape made up of mountains, greenery, water and wildlife, the music video captures the song’s lyrical comparison of relationships to weather perfectly. It is directed by Andy Hines, who has worked with Lizzo, Logic and Anderson .Paak.
Capturing heaps of praise from critics, Rogers has been called “the new ‘It’ girl of alt-R&B” by NYLON while V MAGAZINE’S “NEXT GENERATION” said she has “an unapologetic uniqueness, a creative presence, and a strong voice.”
Billboard said, “Destiny Rogers marries a gift for personal storytelling with a sumptuous percussion palette.”
“Great Escape” also included her single “Kickin’ Pushin’” and two other previously released tracks titled “Euphoria” and “Lo Lo.”
It is the 21-year-old artist’s second EP after her 2019 EP titled “Tomboy.” She has also performed at festivals and toured North America and Europe with Ruel.
