CURLFEST: A NATURAL BEAUTY CELEBRATION

The journey of CURLFEST began as a humble picnic in Brooklyn and has evolved into a vibrant celebration of beauty and cultural pride. 2024 marks another decade of this cherished tradition. The event, held at the Lena Horne Bandshell in Prospect Park, Brooklyn, was a fitting tribute to its roots.

Curlfest was created by the Curly Girl Collective, which consisted of Tracey Coleman, Melody Henderson, Charisse Higgins, Gia Lowe, and Simone Mair. Curlfest has become a destination for those who are interested in natural beauty. Two stages were present at the event: immersive brand activation and small business exhibitions. A Q&A session, moderated by Madame Noire, addressed women’s empowerment and challenged societal misconceptions about hair.

The experience extends beyond just a festival; it’s an opportunity for attendees to express themselves, network, and be inspired by the shared stories of others.
In an inclusive environment, Curlfest celebrates identity, culture, and community.
