CHAMPAGNE

“Champagne,” the brand-new track from singer, actress, and YouTube creator Lia Marie Johnson, is out today and available via all digital service providers. The yearning, trip-hop-laced break-up ballad was co-written by Johnson and producer Nick Ruth, Brittany Amaradio, and Koko LaRoo. LISTEN HERE.

Named one of V Magazine’s Artists To Watch, Johnson has released two previous tracks, DNA,” a deeply personal song about her father’s battle with addiction that is fast-approaching 50 million streams worldwide, and Cold Heart Killer,” which has over 7 million streams.  She is also featured on DJ-producer R3HAB’s latest single The Wave,” of which Billboard says, “Lia Marie Johnson has a voice that drips with depth and beauty. She breathes like smoke over the deep blue sound, and before you know it, you’re drawn in head-to-toe, jerkin’ your shoulders to the suddenly plunky synths.“

Of “Cold Heart Killer,” V Magazine declares, “Musically, Johnson has taken a huge step forward. The electronic ballad showcases a mature sound that will no doubt transport its listeners to Johnson’s steamy and conflicted subconscious…” Nylon says, “Johnson has managed to add a flair of pop to the sparsely agro-electronic R&B sound for ‘Cold Heart Killer.  Where ‘DNA’ showcased her willingness to go there emotionally, ‘Cold Heart Killer’ explores the numbing side of love.” Teen Vogue raves, “(‘DNA’ is) without a doubt the kind of song that you won’t be able to get out of your head. It’s guaranteed to haunt you, thanks to its compelling music and powerful lyrics.”

Johnson first became known via her YouTube channel, followed by roles in the Emmy-winning web series REACT, which is the most successful web series in history with close to one billion views. In 2017, she was named one of the Top 100 YouTubers in the world with over 1.7 million subscribers. The 21-year-old San Diego native also has an actively engaged 1.5 million Instagram followers. Johnson starred in the AwesomenessTV/Dreamworks Animation film Expelled opposite Cameron Dallas, American Wrestler: The Wizard with Jon Voight, the TV series T@gged, and the YouTube Red thriller The Thinning. She will appear this fall in the Cuba Gooding Jr.-directed film Louisiana Caviar, alongside Gooding Jr., Richard Dreyfuss, and Famke Janssen, and executive-produced by Oscar winner Paul Haggis.
