Celeste, a soul singer from the UK and winner of BBC Sound of 2020, released a new single titled “Little Runaway.”
The song, which premiered as the Hottest Record on BBC Radio, is accompanied by a music video directed by Sophie Jones, who has worked with Celeste before.
Celeste said the song is about losing faith and seeking answers outside this world.
“My favourite line in the song is ‘good news I could use some.’ I believe everyone has a guardian angel, a protector, and this is me talking to mine,” she said.
The video for the piano-based song gives viewers something of a fisheye view. We’re looking up at everything that transpires throughout the video, sort of like how Celeste is looking up for answers.
Between the piano and Celeste’s all-powerful vocals, this song really captures the feeling of being down and out. Anyone whose problems have fallen on deaf ears or has sought answers to no avail will have no trouble relating to this track.
This song follows her previous single “I Can See The Change,” which was produced by FINNEAS, brother of Billie Eilish and star in his own right.
“Celeste is gonna go down as one of the greats. It was a thrill to produce this song for her,” he said in an Instagram post promoting “I Can See The Change.”
