Continuing to forge new paths in his eighth decade, Crosby again joins forces with Becca Stevens, Michelle Willis and Michael Leaguethe three musicians known as The Lighthouse Band, who he’s been working with since 2016’s Lighthouse album. 

Far from just a solo live album/DVD, working with his first new band since CPR (Crosby, Pevar and Raymond), Crosby and The Lighthouse Band quickly discovered their chemistry took a collaborative leap during their 2018 tour together in support of Crosby’s seventh solo album Here if You Listen (2018, BMG) culminating in this live recorded set on the last night of the run. 

Recorded and filmed at the historic Capitol Theatre in Port Chester, NY, in a particularly meaningful turn for Crosby, the sixteen track live offering also includes an uncut gem with the song 1974” – a long-lost demo track that Crosby had floating around on his computer hard drive for decades. 

Peter Shapiro (Owner, The Capitol Theatre) says, “Hosting David Crosby at The Capitol Theatre was an honor for us and when David came out and crushed his performance it elevated things even further. We feel very fortunate that this legendary moment was captured forever.” 

This very special live performance acts as a celebration of sorts as it spotlights the kindred relationship Crosby shares with League, Stevens and Willis. 

Stevens offers, “The Lighthouse band is family. David and I tease about my not “understanding the magnitude of his brilliance”. I didn’t grow up with his music. I knew his name, but that was about it. I’ve gotten to know him purely through my experience of him in the present moment, generous, endlessly inspired, ambitious, and completely insane (in all my favorite ways). A man who has known immense fame, and yet would start a band at seventy something with three youngish weirdos, begging them to share the light with him. There’s something truly wonderful in that, and truly David.” 

Willis adds, “He (Crosby) has gifted us his friendship, care, wisdom, humor, family, and community. And in addition, he has given Mike, Becca and I endless tools to create something of beauty to offer. This is because he truly believes in music, and its ability to profoundly change and make better those who encounter it. I’m so grateful to have a fighter like Croz in my life.”

After four years of polishing, the all-around producer Chace’s first personal album the thought-provoking and psychedelic “Belated Suffocation” is out now via Astralwerks / Fabled Records. Listen HERE.

“Belated Suffocation” chronicles his creation and thoughts under this present time. It contains diversified electronic music styles with a complete conceptual framework and shows the multi-dimensional color of Chace. Filled with hypnotic production, bouncy beats, and magnetic vocals, Chace proves he’s in it for the long-haul. It contains recent singles “Mariya” and “In My Head.” From the lyrics, music creation, vocals, to the production behind the scenes, Chace does it all.

“46 Step” is the first prelude of the album. It lays the keynote for the whole album with mystery, announces the return of Chace, and opens the album with his unique personality.

“Cinematic” is one of the main tracks of the album. In his creation, Chace constantly surpasses himself, breaks through his original strength, plays the role of MV director for the first time, and participates in the production behind the scenes. The track explores the transition between virtuality and reality. The narrative texture of the film creates his own chace-house style.

“Mariya” is the centerpiece and heart and soul of his debut album. In the process of creation, Chace continues to surpass and challenge himself. “Mariya” continues the mysterious tone of the album’s previous singles and focuses on the track’s mood and psychedelic atmosphere. Chace still arranges the music, writes the lyrics, sings and produces everything himself.

Chace, Zhu Yihan, China’s hottest talented music producer, received global attention early on and became the first Chinese DJ to take the stage at iconic Belgian electronic music festival Tomorrowland. He is currently the guest music director of the new music program at the world’s leading hotel brand, W Hotel. Since releasing his debut EP Destination, Chace’s music – a delirious mix of evocative house, UK garage, and pop – has earned him praise from tastemakers across the world. Billboard dubbed him a “pop and dance music prodigy,” COMPLEX called him a “Rapidly rising producer,” and VICE stated that he’s “The face of China’s rising EDM scene.”

Following years of industry experience as a producer, DJ and band member, Chase established the HOWSHOOD label in 2019, and the MontiArk label last year, both of which are at the center of domestic electronic music. In the summer of 2020, Chace formed the Mandarin rock band with two friends, and with the band’s original album and members opened their first national tour with the theme of “Echo.” In 2021, Chase was named DJ MAG CHINA AWARDS Producer of the Year.

WunderLocke unveils design-led Rooftop & Penthouse Suites

Located in Sendling, Munich, newly opened aparthotel WunderLocke by pioneering lifestyle brand Locke, has unveiled its seventh floor rooftop suites and impressive Penthouse Suites. The 360-apartment destination is ideally located in the up-and-coming neighbourhood of Sendling and brings a hospitality concept like no other to the Bavarian capital. WunderLocke provides suites for leisure and business travellers alike, offering eleven one-bedroom open plan suites, three two-bedroom penthouse suites, and the WunderLocke Penthouse Suite.

The design of the seventh-floor suites was overseen by renowned interior architects Holloway Li who took advantage of the striking views of the alps. The impressive 126sqm WunderLocke Penthouse Suite boasts an expansive stand-alone bathtub, offering guests the ultimate relaxation. The colour scheme throughout is anchored by natural earth tones and rich botanical greens, with biophilic insertions and natural materials creating a feeling of serenity. Munich-based multidisciplinary artist Monika Morito was also commissioned to paint a small mural in sunset tones which features in the space. In addition, the WunderLocke Penthouse Suite features its own private terrace complete with a jacuzzi configured to maximise and amplify its unique setting, while the 100sqm Two Bedroom Penthouse Suite features spectacular city views. Both penthouse suites also feature separate living quarters, an eight-person dining table, and two king-size beds in two separate bedrooms. In signature Locke style, both penthouse suites include a fully-equipped kitchen complete with a microwave oven, dishwasher, washer/dryer and cooking gear.

This was our first opportunity to design Penthouse suites for Locke and we were spoiled by the panoramic views the building afforded. Our design scheme for the penthouses chimed with the overall concept for WunderLocke, both paying homage to the heritage of the host building by retaining the exposed concrete shell and using natural materials as well as a thoughtful colour palette and greenery to provide a fitting counterpoint to the machine-age setting of the space. We hope the spaces provide both a sense of renewal as well as a connection to the wonderful surrounding city.”- Alex Holloway, Creative Director and Co-Founder of Holloway Li.

For the seventh-floor suites, Holloway Li mirrored the landscape of the alps in the distance to the lateral flow of the apartments. The 31m² Rooftop One Bedroom Open Plan Suites are complete with rooftop terraces, living spaces and fully equipped kitchens complete with dining tables and more.

For The WunderLocke Penthouse Suite and the Rooftop One Bedroom Open Plan Suites  featuring splendid terraces, Holloway Li worked with artist Claire de Quénetain to create bespoke fabrics for each of the external terrace loungers; her painterly illustrations take inspiration from natural settings and provide the perfect counterpoint to the building’s industrial past.

All seventh floor suites along with the WunderLocke Penthouse Suite feature Locke’s signature perks, including air conditioning, a power shower with Kinsey Apothecary toiletries, blackout curtains, private, superfast Wi-Fi, a Smart HDTV with Chromecast, a separate living area and a fully-equipped kitchen, microwave oven, dishwasher, washer/dryer. The urban roof garden, opening in Spring 2023, will also be accessible from the seventh floor.

‘Sky Rompiendo’ goes to Medellín for the successful closing of Casa Spotify Medallo

Alejandro Ramírez, also known as Sky Rompiendo, the award-winning producer, composer, DJ and artist born in Medellín, has returned to his homeland to participate in the closing of the Casa Spotify Medallo on November 3.

Coming back to Medellin was really wonderful for the 15-time Latin Grammy nominee and 3-time Billboard Latin nominee, as he spoke about “The Future of Music, which was the theme of the panel held at Casa Medallo. Sky recalled the music he heard before dedicating himself to the urban genre, speaking about the role of other genres in the emergence of the Medellin Sound, as well as the differences between other sounds like Puerto Rico and Argentina.  Sky expressed his opinion on when the wonderful sound that now represents us throughout the world began.

For the closing of this event held by Spotify in the capital of Antioquia, Sky, who has thirteen #1 singles on the Billboard charts under his belt, was part of an open-air concert that took place on Calle del Perpetuo Socorro. Over 2,000 people came to see Sky perform in the country responsible for the successes of world-renowned artists such as J Balvin, Karol G, Anitta, Rosalía, Ozuna, Raw Alejandro and Manuel Turizo, just to name a few.

It was a pleasure to have one of the great talents that Medellin, Colombia has given to the world come back home to perform.

For the holiday season, Zurich embraces the festive spirit with light installations, Christmas markets, pop-ups and festive treats around every corner. 

This year, travelers can stay at the HOTEL NOËL, a pop-up hotel experience now in its second year, running between November 25-December 26, 2022 with 10 rooms in 10 hotels individually designed by different artists, reflecting creative contemporary interpretations of the Christmas season under the theme of “The Christmas Paradox.” Artist duo huber.huber will transform a room at AMERON Zurich Bellerive au Lac into a beautiful night sky where guests can sleep under the Star of Bethlehem. At the Neues Schloss Privat Hotel Zurich, Veli & Amos will cover the ceiling with colored light slogans and drawings to create positive vibes; guests can even take home one of the light works as a gift. Hotel Rössli will be hosting Swiss-born multimedia artist Olaf Breuning, who will be displaying 15 drawings, each composed of various Christmas archetypes – such as Santa Claus and Christmas trees – seen from a completely new and unexpected perspective.

Each year, the city marks the start of the Christmas season with the “Lucy” Christmas lighting ceremony (named after the Beatles song, “Lucy in the Sky with Diamonds“) on Zurich’s main shopping street, Bahnhofstrasse, in which 12,000 specially cut glass LED crystals light up simultaneously, creating a vision of a sparkling starry sky. On the same night – this year falling on November 24, 2022 – the Christmas markets open and the holiday season is officially underway.

Each Christmas market in Zurich offers its own unique magical atmosphere. Christkindlimarkt at Zurich Main Station, which is the largest indoor Christmas market in Europe, features a 50-foot Christmas tree adorned with thousands of sparkling Swarovski crystals. Christmas Market Dorfli in Zurich’s Old Town is the city’s oldest Christmas market, featuring treats from fondue and raclette to artisanal crafts. Held in front of the Opera House, the Wienachtsdorf market hosts more than 100 market stalls with merchandise for all tastes, including glühwein and unique jewelry. A real crowd pleaser is the Christmas Market at Werdmühleplatz where various choirs from across the region line up in rows to create a “Singing Christmas Tree” and spread their holiday cheer through their repertoire of carols.

Visitors can take in the festive season by sampling local mulled wine at pop-up locations and cozy spots throughout the city, as well as taking a ride on the Fondue Tram, transporting guests in an old-fashioned tram through the city while enjoying delicious cheese fondue. Children can take a ride through the city center with St. Nicholas on the historical Christmas fairy tale tram, Marlitram, or venture to the elf village located on the terrace of the Opera House to find Santa Claus’s post office and a special Christmas market. Visitors can even go tobogganing in the middle of Zurich on the local mountain, Uetliberg.

New Themes to Include “Alice in Wonderland,” Las Vegas Weddings

WHAT:
New ice construction inside Minus5º ICEBAR at Mandalay Bay will begin on Sunday, Nov. 13. When completed on Thursday, Nov. 17, the attraction will feature new ice displays throughout, including all-new “Alice in Wonderland” as well as Las Vegas wedding themes. 

Specific “Alice in Wonderland” displays include the Queen of Hearts, Cheshire Cat and the Mad Hatter tea party. Wedding sculptures include a “Just Married” Las Vegas wedding chapel photo opportunity and other imagery from cheesy and celebrity Las Vegas wedding moments. The new construction represents part of Minus5º ICEBAR’s quarterly Staying COOL re-theming program to keep the experience fresh for guests.

FUN FACTS:

  • Ten ice carvers with an average of 25 years of experience each will use everything from chainsaws to precision ice-carving tools to construct new art displays at each ice lounge.
  • New blocks of ice will be used in the construction, each ice block weighs 250 pounds, requiring four men to lift and hoist into place.
  • Prior to arriving in Las Vegas, the ice was created by utilizing a special process that removes all air bubbles, resulting in the clearest ice possible. 
  • Minus5º ICEBAR is kept at 23-degrees Fahrenheit with a technologically advanced climate-control system that can make continuous adjustments to account for body heat or changes in humidity.

Harley-Davidson’s history with the U.S military dates back more than a century. The Motor Company’s “iron horses” were a part of General “Black Jack” Pershing’s 1916 efforts to chase Mexican revolutionary Pancho Villa around the Mexican desert on the heels of the Mexican Revolution. Harley-Davidson has always been on the front lines – right next to the troops. In fact, the first American to enter Germany after World War I did so on a Harley-Davidson® motorcycle.

And in what has become an annual tradition of expressing gratitude for those who serve and those who have served, all active military, veterans and their families will enjoy complimentary admission to the H-D Museum on Friday, Nov. 11. Plus, MOTOR® Bar & Restaurant is also looking to say thanks by offering veterans a free meal on Nov. 11. Engineering Merit Badge (Saturdays at 10:15 a.m. and 2 p.m.)
All scouts are welcome to come earn their Engineering Merit Badge at the Harley-Davidson Museum! This experience will be launched by our merit badge counselor. Then, scouts will explore the history of Harley-Davidson as well as the engineering of motorcycles as they complete the nine merit badge requirements. Advance registration is required. Program registration closes one week prior to the scheduled program date. Ticket includes: downloadable activity booklet used for the program, welcome and orientation by program facilitator, blue card signed by the facilitator (one blue card per scout registration) and an exclusive H-D Museum™ patch.

Scout Virtual Engineering Merit Badge (Saturdays at 8:30 a.m. and Tuesdays at 6:30 p.m.)
This new 90-minute online program is open to scouts from all over the country. Linda “Jo” Giovannoni (on display now)
This year the world of motorcycling lost a prominent voice, Linda “Jo” Giovannoni. As a co-founder of Harley Women magazine, she shared her love of the sport through articles in newspapers and magazines, and in national television interviews and documentaries. Learn about how Giovannoni inspired riders for over 40 years.

1977 FLH “Blackula” (on display now)
Milwaukee man about town Freddie Franklin purchased his Electra Glide® motorcycle from its original owner, 95-year-old Wallace Brzezinski, with only 4,500 miles on its odometer. And in short order, he completely re-envisioned the bike to reflect his timeless style. The motorcycle incorporates some hallmarks of Franklin’s disparate tastes. A dash of the Coney Island-style bikes – decked out with lights and reflectors – he adored mixed in with elements of Willie G.’s seminal Knucklehead and topped off with details that harken to the 1970s blaxploitation films Franklin watched back in the day. A clear statement of Black pride via the language of vintage motorcycles, this is a bike you must see in-person.

Keith Brammer (Die Kreuzen) leather jacket (on display now)
Perhaps no other genre of music is so closely associated with the classic black leather jacket than punk rock. Keith Brammer, of Milwaukee’s hardcore punk band Die Kreuzen, has graciously lent his well-worn leather to the H-D Museum. The jacket was purchased in New York City in the 1980s and was a constant companion for Brammer throughout his touring days. Check out the Custom Culture gallery to view this piece of Milwaukee music history.

Clubs & Competition (on display now)
In the early part of the 20th century, motorcycle culture was a homegrown phenomenon. It grew out of the passion of riders for their evolving sport. The camaraderie that developed around riding and attending competitive events led to the formation of motorcycle clubs that hosted destination rides, family picnics with motorcycle games and other riding competitions. 
The newly reinstalled display case in the Clubs & Competition gallery highlights clothing from club members from primarily the 1930s and 1940s. The clothing selections on view include full dress uniforms, shirts, sweaters, jackets and caps, customized by the owners with their club’s name and logo, and pins or patches indicating membership in the American Motorcyclist Association. The H-D Archives collection includes Motorclothes® apparel sold in H-D® product catalogs but also non-H-D produced clothing items that have been proudly customized by riders. 

Harley Fox (on display now)Gail Anderson’s 1986 Softail® Custom motorcycle, “Harley Fox,” built by her partner Bob Burrows, took top prize at the first Ladies of Harley® (LOH) ride-in show during Daytona Beach Bike Week in 1987. With her custom bike and themed riding gear, Anderson presented a striking image that fit the growing visibility and exciting new options for women riders in the 1980s.

Alfonso Sotomayor’s 1957 Model FL (on display now)
The Harley-Davidson Museum is proud to announce its collection has recently grown with the addition of a 1957 Model FL that was ridden by famed Mexican stunt rider and racer Alfonso Sotomayor Canales.
Harley-Davidson’s history in Mexico dates back to at least 1913. In the 1920s, the brand was more frequently spotted throughout Mexico City as the motorcycles proved popular with the local traffic police who would also perform stunts with their Harley-Davidson® bikes. After racing from the 1930s into the 1960s, Sotomayor launched his own stunt riding career by performing the famed “Salto de la Muerte” or Jump of Death. Learn more about Sotomayor’s feats of derring-do and Harley-Davidson’s early entry into Mexico with this new display located in the Custom Culture area.

In the decades before America paved its highways, early riders had to be prepared for all sorts of terrain: sand, clay or dirt – and wandering those makeshift byways were Harley-Davidson® motorcycles. Today, it’s called off-road or adventure touring; back then it was just called riding. Since 1903, Harley-Davidson® motorcycles proved their toughness by riding over wooded hills, through stone-choked creek beds and up mountain sides. “Off-Road Harley-Davidson” tells the history of motorcycles designed for rough roads, the people who rode them and the adventures they shared. 

“Building a Milwaukee Icon: Harley-Davidson’s Juneau Avenue Factory” (closing soon!)
A recently recovered cache of architectural drawings includes plans for the original Juneau Avenue facility. The pencil drawings, along with archival photographs, demonstrate the whirlwind pace of the company’s early growth. While building an international business—going from producing just over 1,000 motorcycles in 1909 to manufacturing 27,000 motorcycles in 1920—the company’s Milwaukee factory experienced near-constant expansion. Construction through this relatively brief period created the buildings that today, a century later, are still the proud home of Harley-Davidson.
“Building a Milwaukee Icon” provides a snapshot of Harley-Davidson’s formative years and illustrates a chapter of Milwaukee history when the city was known as the “Machine Shop to the World.”

The Alliance of Health Care Sharing Ministries calls on Biden Administration to enforce the hospital pricing transparency law 

Katy Talento: ‘Hospitals are required by law to post their prices for easy comparative shopping, so why aren’t they complying?’

Health care consumers and patients can hope the fourth Hospital Price Transparency Compliance Report will be much better than the recently-released third semi-annual Hospital Price Transparency Compliance Report. The new report, issued in August, makes it all too apparent that the vast majority of hospitals are ignoring a number of requirements of transparency law that would make an enormous difference to patients suffering from out-of-control medical bills. The insufficient enforcement by the Biden Administration is obvious, as the report shows that more than 17 months after the rule took effect, only two hospitals were fined for noncompliance. The administration has also issued a number of warning letters to non-compliant hospitals but has not disclosed to the public that list of warned hospitals. The compliance report also has a list of local hospitals that are either compliant or noncompliant with the rule. 

“Federal price transparency rules require hospitals to post all negotiated rates with every single commercial insurance plan that they’ve contracted with, a list of cash prices for the uninsured or self-pay patients, and even rates for government programs such as Medicare, Medicaid, Tricare and the Veterans Administration — including contracted rates with managed care organizations delivering those federal programs’ benefits,” said Katy Talento, executive director of Alliance of Health Care Sharing Ministries (The Alliance, ahcsm.org).

The hospital compliance report concludes that only “16.0% of the 2,000 hospitals (319/2,000)” are in compliance with the transparency law. This means that there is an 84% likelihood any given hospital is still hiding many or most prices, or at least making comparison shopping as difficult as possible for patients. 

“The goal of the law was to make comparison shopping easier for health care consumers, but what this study found is appalling evidence that there has been no enforcement of the hospital pricing transparency rule since it became law in January 2021,” Talento said. “Hospitals are required to post their prices clearly, so that even the most unsophisticated among us can have credible information to compare costs of other providers, but too many hospitals use hidden pricing as a way to take advantage of patients.”

Over a recent six-year period, medical costs have doubled. Striving to find a better way to handle rising medical costs and obtain price transparency for medical services, more than a million Americans have turned to Health Care Sharing Ministries, according to the Alliance of Health Care Sharing Ministries. Since 2019, $1.3 billion of medical expenses have been shared by the members of Health Care Sharing Ministries for care in all 50 states.

Talento concluded, “This kind of commonsense market reform is long overdue. For far too long, medical costs have been shrouded in secrecy as insurance costs have skyrocketed. It’s one of the reasons why many Americans of faith have turned to Health Care Sharing Ministries, which facilitate sharing costs among their members and help their members lower their medical bills.”

Exclusively streamed live on Disney+ on Sunday, Nov. 20, 2022, “Elton John Live: Farewell from Dodger Stadium” is a once-in-a-lifetime live, global original concert event that offers fans from around the world a front-row seat to witness the groundbreaking magic of the Rocket Man back at Dodger Stadium.  

The historic three-hour livestream, from Disney Branded Television and produced by Fulwell 73 Productions and Rocket Entertainment, will showcase Elton John as audiences have never seen him before, paying tribute to the icon and the seminal moment in 1975 that cemented his global success.  The concert will begin with “Countdown to Elton Live” from Dodger Stadium, beginning at 7:30 PST / 10:30 EST.
