Anthony Ramos releases Villano via 360 MAGAZINE.

Anthony Ramos – Villano

Grammy® Award-winning recording artist and Golden Globe® and Emmy® Award-nominated actor Anthony Ramos makes a grand return with a brand-new bilingual track entitled “Villano” today via Republic Records.

After generating over 100 million streams across his critically acclaimed debut album The Good & The Bad [2019] and Love and Lies [2021], “Villano” introduces a new music era for the multi-hyphenate artist, inspired heavily by his Puerto-Rican Heritage and Latin roots.

Listen HERE.

“Growing up, my mom listened to salsa all the time,” he says. “She loved Tito Rojas, Tito Nieves, and Marc Anthony. When reggaeton first popped off in the States, I was getting into Tego Calderón and Tony Dize. There was also freestyle like Lisa Lisa & Cult Jam, which was big for me. All of this inspired me at the most important time of my life. Being a Latino from New York is a very specific thing. I’m exploring what that means. This new music is like a homecoming for me.

“Villano” sees Ramos seamlessly alternate between English and Spanish over swaggering Nuyorican soundscapes steeped in reggaeton fire and hints of R&B.

About the song, Anthony shared, “It’s easy to get painted as a villain. I was coming out of a certain situation, and this is how I felt at the time,” he says.  “There were all these opinions and judgements made about me when no one had the full story.  I’m grateful for how much I’ve grown from this situation though.  All of the pain and lessons in the aftermath is ultimately where the song came from.”

“Villano” sets the stage sonically for the release of Ramos’ official single arriving this Summer, and with a starring role in the upcoming blockbuster, Transformers: Rise of the Beasts, this season is his for the taking.

His credits have ranged from the Academy® Award-winning A Star Is Born, Spike Lee’s NETFLIX series She’s Gotta Have It, and HBO’s In Treatment to starring role in Transformers: Rise of the Beasts and the soon to be seen Marvel’s IronHeart. KO Média is thrilled to unveil the June/July/August issue of ELLE Canada, featuring rising superstar Barbie Ferreira. The young actor talks about growing up in New York City, landing a role in the hit series Euphoria and keeping a bright outlook for the future: “I dreamt of this time; it’s my time. I’m open to anything, really, as long as it has a good script and a great director and just good vibes. I’m looking for things that are a little bit different from what I’ve done before.”

We speak with a lot of passionate people in this issue, like up-and-coming actor Rachel Marsh from Netflix’s charming sitcom Unstable and the co-creator of the intentionally cringey comedy series Pen15, Anna Konkle. We chat with the Canadian-born comedy star of The Other Two, Heléne Yorke, triple-threat actor-author-activist Skai Jackson and the nose behind Chanel’s fragrances, Olivier Polge, who tells us about his good scents.

Our editors keep the style department packed with the Summer Shopping Guide, including beach-ready essentials, ’90s-inspired cargo pants, slinky sequined styles for nights out, denim everything and festival-ready pieces inspired by our favourite pop stars. We showcase plenty of our favourite trends, from keeping things pretty in pink to suiting up and going grunge, and also serve up sporty looks with tennis-inspired fashions, dip into inclusive and ethical swimwear brands and ask ourselves if celebrity stunt styles have gone too far.

Summer calls for its own set of beauty rules, so we lay out our best tips for protecting hair and skin all season long, from sunscreens to serums. We talk deep-clean with the return of face balms and tell you how to get the hottest celeb hairstyles for warm-weather months, including warm blonds and bobs galore. We also tour the L’Oréal Paris lab to see what goes into ensuring that our locks stay in tip-top shape, show you some beauty essentials for road-tripping and learn how to run the right way with personal trainer and owner of The Studio MTL, Val Desjardins.

On the lifestyle front, we look at how the de-hoarding community can help manage a messy space and we sit at the table with some female rising stars of professional poker, rekindle a love for reading with top summer book picks and paint the town blue—one of the season’s coolest hues. Our writers also let us tag along for their trips as they take a slow-travel train trek through the American Southwest, spend 48 hours in London’s Covent Garden neighbourhood and sail away with Club Med’s Exclusive Collection.

The June/July/August issue of ELLE Canada will hit newsstands and Apple News+ on May 29, 2023.

Towa Bird releases new single Boomerang via 360 MAGAZINE.

Towa Bird – BOOMERANG

Today, rising singer/songwriter Towa Bird shares her frenetic new single “Boomerang” via Interscope Records. An up-close look at the torment of long-distance relationships, “Boomerang” spotlights the mesmerizing guitar work that has made the Hong Kong-born artist one of the most dynamic new voices in the alt-pop world. Listen to “Boomerang” HERE.

Produced by Thomas Powers of New Zealand indie-pop band The Naked and Famous (Towa’s main collaborator on the LP), “Boomerang” emerged as the Los Angeles-based musician struggled with the constant back-and-forth of her relationship with her girlfriend, who lives in New York City.

“This song was born after spending a glorious but short-lived five days visiting my girlfriend,” says Towa, who co-wrote “Boomerang” with Powers and Alisa Xayalith (also of The Naked and Famous). “I stepped off the plane back in L.A. after crying into my face mask for the entirety of the six-hour flight, and the concept for ‘Boomerang’ was born. It’s about how long-distance relationships are possibly the worst thing ever invented — the worst party ever. (Pro-tip: don’t do it!) But if you do happen to find yourself in that sort of scenario, just know that me and this song will meet you there.”

Built on a bold collision of Britpop and garage-punk, “Boomerang” opens on a blistering riff before taking on a feverish momentum fueled by fuzzed-out guitar tones, pulse-pounding rhythms, and wildly soaring melodies. As the song unfolds, Towa’s voice channels both dreamy fragility and raw frustration, achieving a certain soulful intensity at the chorus (“Leave me like a boomerang/I know you’re coming back”). Equal parts heart-on-sleeve confession and sublimely furious anthem, the result is an immediate hit of pure emotional catharsis.

The latest offering from Towa’s forthcoming debut album, “Boomerang” arrives on the heels of Wild Heart — an April release that earned praise from the likes of NYLON (who called the track “exuberant”) and Guitar World (who hailed it as “an infectious indie-pop romp”). Another prime showcase for the dazzling musicality that landed her on Dazed’s definitive list of creatives shaping youth culture, her debut single was soon followed by a gritty but fantastical video in which Towa performs an explosive guitar solo in a glittering, Elvis-esque jumpsuit —watch it HERE.  Check out Homme girls’ recent coverage of Towa HERE.

A half-Filipino, half-English artist who spent much of her childhood in Thailand and London, Towa first started playing guitar at the age of 12, honing her technique by strumming along to The Kinks, The Who, and other bands she discovered through her father’s record collection. After forming her first band at age 14, she cut her teeth playing dive bars and street festivals in Hong Kong, then went on to study at Goldsmiths, University of London. Naming Jimi Hendrix, Joan Jett, and Prince among her longtime inspirations, Towa dropped out of school after two years to pursue her love of music and got her start producing and co-writing for other artists, in addition to posting videos that found her soloing over hip-hop, pop, and R&B songs. As her singular guitar style gained attention across the globe — and earned admiration from the likes of Willow Smith and Tyler, the Creator — Towa began sharing original music and soon after inked her deal with Interscope Records. Due out later this year, Towa’s debut album offers up an intimate exploration of queerness, identity, and the complexities of love.

TALEBAN DOODA OPENS UP ON EMOTIONAL NEW SINGLE “GOING GLOBAL” via 360 MAGAZINE.

TALEBAN DOODA – GOING GLOBAL

breakout East Tampa rapper Taleban Dooda returns with the poignant new single “Going Global.” Listen HERE and watch HERE via District 18 / Warner Records. Melodic, laid back and full of raw truth, the unfiltered track speaks to the up-and-comer’s lofty ambitions while delivering the poise and raw talent to back it up. It’s the latest single from Dooda as he gears up to release a new project this summer.

“I told my mom I goin’ global, she ain’t believe me, ‘til she see her baby boy on the TV,” the 20-year-old spits over sweet acoustic guitar picking and an intricate down-beat tempo. “Say her friend just called, her son wanna be just like me — I say tell her no he don’t, ’cause this ain’t what he want … it’s the same as when you die, you all alone.” Hard-hitting and intimate, “Going Global” doubles as Dooda’s account of starting out in the rap game.

The new track arrives soon after the soulful “Mind of a Maniac” and “Major Pain,” another introspective track full of emotion and diaristic lyrics. It was preceded by “Come After Me” and the Step Wit A Passion mixtape, which dropped in late 2022 and boasted the hit single “If It Happen It Happen.” That project followed Dooda’s other 2022 release White Chalk & Yellow Tape, which is disarmingly cohesive from front to back. Prior to that, he dropped a series of singles including “Foreigns & Trackhawks,” “Sunset,” and “Call 100 Times.”

Now, with “Going Global,” Dooda continues to bravely share his thoughts and fears while crafting an arresting and infectious anthem that demands to be heard.

“The music of Neil Young has been part of my entire life. What has always drawn me to him are his lyrics. I think that lyrics are often underrated in today’s music. But then of course with Neil Young you also get these absolutely iconic melodies and the sound quality of his albums is simply amazing. He is the full package.

To record Harvest was a pure joy. I had never sung with Andrew or recorded with him playing the violin and he is so inherently musical that it feels so natural to sing such a sophisticated song with him. And it was amazing to include my old friend Chris Stills on this track who probably was fed Neil Young’s voice with his mother’s milk. Chris has one of the most beautiful voices I have heard and his harmonizing is absolutely delicious.”

Highlights include the sensual “High On A Rocky Ledge (feat. David Byrne),” a gorgeous, expertly harmonized take on The Mamas & The Papas’ “Twelve-Thirty (Young Girls Are Coming To The Canyon)” featuring Sheryl Crow, Susannah Hoffs, and Chris Stills, and the album-closing “Wild Mountain Thyme,” a song Wainwright grew up singing with his sisters, Martha Wainwright and Lucy Wainwright Roche, both of whom join him on the new rendition along with aunt Anna McGarrigle, cousin Lily Lanken, and close family friend Chaim Tannenbaum, the latter playing Rufus’s late mother Kate McGarrigle’s iconic banjo.

“The older I get, the more I appreciate how valuable my folk knowledge is, to have had it ingrained in me as a child,” Wainwright says. “I’m from a bona fide folkocracy who mixed extensively with other folkocracies such as the Seegers and the Thompsons. I spun off into opera and pop. Now I’m back where it all began.”

Pump TZ (IE4105, $180): This west coast inspired version of the iconic Pump basketball shoe fuses patchwork and patterns of ’70s grunge with retro ’90s sport style.

Beatnik (IE1956, $130): Inspired by ‘baja’ hoodies of the ‘60s, this bohemian take on Reebok’s comfy sandal presents a heavy knit upper with patterned webbings, grounded by a gritty speckled outsole.

LT Court (IE1954, $110): Earthy granola materials and patterns – and a tearaway tongue detail – make up the upper on this version of Reebok’s ‘80s court model, seated atop a gritty speckled outsole.

Classic Leather (IE4104, $100): Inspired by harem patchwork pants, this ‘hippie’ take on the historic Classic Leather features a bold mix of corduroy, washed denim, paisley and groovy prints like tie dye and bandana for a design that’s nostalgic and open minded.

About Onsight Deeda

Louisiana harbors a musical history as rich and unpredictable as a bowl of gumbo. From creole and Cajun stylings through jazz, blues, and gospel to bounce and, of course, hip-hop, the state’s sonic lineage simmers with its own taste stirred, shaken, and served up with a distinct kick by one generation after another.

Hailing from Abbeville, Onsight Deeda wields a sharp and slick sound of his own punctuated by energetic flows, drill intensity, unshakable melodies, and knockout hooks.  Residing with his mother, father, and older brother, Onsight Deeda discovered music at home as a kid. Dad owned a tiny studio and performed in a local rap group. So, Onsight Deeda often hung out in the studio with his pops. Absorbing the catalogs of hometown heroes, he listened to Louisiana heavyweights like Lil WayneThe Hot Boys, and Boosie Badazz. Simultaneously, he excelled as an amateur boxer, winning a Golden Gloves tournament at 15-years-old and even placing second in a Regional Championship tournament.

Despite graduating high school, he found himself in and out of trouble with various stints in juvenile detention and jail. Returning to Abbeville from a particular bid, he went viral with the breakout “Welcome Home” followed by “I’M A GANGSTA.” After catching another case, he found himself in jail for the last time in 2018.  Getting out, he made a conscious decision to focus on music. Generating views in the millions on YouTube and drawing Cash Money Records to his corner, he ignites another era of Louisiana rap on a series of 2023 singles beginning with “Don Dada.”
