North Pole Pop-Up Bar

A pop-up bar will open at the North Pole and offer free gin for life

Finnish Arctic Blue Gin is opening the northernmost pop-up bar “Arctic Bar” at the North Pole on April 17th. Any explorer courageous enough to reach it will earn free gin for life.

Situated at N90°E0°, the Arctic Bar will be open for one day on the 17th of April and gift anyone who shows up a lifetime supply of award-winning Arctic Blue Gin. The Arctic Bar will be the northernmost bar in the world, topping the Bar in Hotel Tulpan in Svalbard, Norway.

Why the North Pole?

“To survive here, you need to be a little mad, and quite a lot tougher. Just like the wild bilberries we season our gin with, that fight their way through the frozen earth just to survive. It’s not easy, but you can truly taste their zest for life.” says Mikko Spoof, Co-Founder and Brand Director of Arctic Brand Group.

“And just like the bilberries, our ideas have to fight through a dark and frosty element to survive.” Continues Mr. Spoof, “We believe actions are more impactful than words in telling stories. That’s why we will open a bar at the North Pole. The customers can enjoy free gin during the pop-up day and even better than that: they will get a lifetime supply of Arctic Blue Gin delivered to their front door. ”

The Finnish expedition will ride on the North Pole for a week in very harsh conditions. The thickness of the ice may vary from a few centimeters to a few meters and the temperature can even drop down to -40°C/F.

The expedition to N90°E0° will start today as Mikko Spoof and other three mad explorers embark on an adventure with the beloved gin to open a bar amongst polar bears, walruses, and seals. If you find yourself at N90°E0° on April 17th, you will get a free supply of Arctic Blue Gin for the rest of your life, or at least as long as the bilberries survive and are not extinct due to climate change.

The team is headed by the experienced polar expert and photographer Poppis Suomela. Photographer Valtteri Hirvonen and director Otso Tiainen will also join the extreme trip and film a short documentary on the effects of global warming.

International Whisky Day

3 Countries, 3 Whiskies, 1 Day — International Whisk(e)y Day

Raise your favorite glass on March 27 and sip on some of the best whiskies from around world. Whether you’re a traditional Scotch whisky drinker or are looking to explore something new like premium whisky from India or France, understanding the history about the countries distilling the spirit makes it an even more fulfilling experience.

  • INDIA – Whiskies from India have been gaining popularity in the past few years and for good reason. With India having a predominantly warmer climate, the maturation process is much faster as compared to other countries like Scotland — some say 4x faster!
    • The Indian Whisky To Try: Rampur Indian Single Malt Whisky (SRP: $70) knows there’s much more to the equation than age when it comes to creating a memorable expression. Nestled at the foothills of the Himalayas in the Indian city of Rampur, the spirit has a distinctive flavor profile replete with vanilla, honey, spices, and dried fruits. The spice is balanced but still present and representative of a premium-quality single malt whisky; to be savored neat or on the rocks.
  • FRANCE – In the land of Cognac, whisky you ask? The French have actually been distilling whisky for centuries and consuming it too! French Whiskies are often characterized by notes replete of fruit-forward flavor.
    • The French Whisky To Try: Bastille 1789 (SRP: $39.99) – Bright orange and amber in color, Bastille has intriguing aromas of orange marmalade, dried apricot, spice cake, pineapple blossoms and suede with a vibrant, dry-yet-fruity medium-to-full body and a long accented finish. A remarkably fruity, exotic and enigmatic whisky that will make for a fabulous Old-Fashioned.
  • SCOTLAND – Not much needs to be said about Scotch whisky. As one of the most popular categories in the world, some scotches are flavored heavily by peat and smoke while others are light and fruity.
    • The Scotch Whisky To Try: The Famous Grouse (SRP: $29.99) is ranked number one by volume in Scotland for a reason. All at an affordable price, Famous Grouse offers candied fruits and buttery shortbread on the nose, with flavors of cinnamon and ginger, dried fruits and oak. Stir it in a Hot Toddy or enjoy it on the rocks, this whiskey will be your go-to after a long day, and a staple of bartenders around the world.

Kahlúa Espresso Martini

KAHLÚA INTRODUCES ITS FIRST EVER RTD ESPRESSO STYLE MARTINI: A REINVENTED CLASSIC COCKTAIL IN A CAN, EQUIPPED WITH SMART NITROGEN, WIDGET TECHNOLOGY

Pop, Pour, Sip… the great taste of the classic Espresso Martini cocktail, now in a ready-to-drink can launches with ASMR-Style video

Kahlúa, the number one coffee liqueur in the U.S. and hero ingredient in your favorite cult cocktails, brings consumers the next iteration of a classic with the launch of the Kahlúa Espresso Style Martini ready-to-drink (RTD) cocktail.  Kahlúa Espresso Style Martini RTD is a twist on the classic Kahlúa cocktail made with coffee…and in a can. It’s the perfect blend of Kahlúa, coffee and Vodka, complete with the signature creamy foam reminiscent of a just-made Espresso Martini cocktail.

How does it work? The unique can is fitted with a smart nitrogen widget, which forces bubbles to the surface as soon as the can is opened to form the distinctive creamy foam of the classic cocktail. To serve, pour into a glass and enjoy immediately (with a friend, of course). To help illustrate for consumers at-home, Kahlúa tapped in to the trend of ASMR (autonomous sensory meridian response) to create the Kahlúa ASMR-tini depicting the pop and foam intensity of the product.

To celebrate the launch, Kahlúa is getting out of the glass and in front of the microphone with an ASMR-tini video to help consumers experience the pop and fizz that goes into every can.

“The launch of the Kahlúa Espresso Martini RTD and our ASMR-tini campaign celebrates a really exciting time for the brand,” said Troy Gorczyca, Kahlúa Brand Director. “As consumers continue to ask for high quality cocktails with added convenience, our take on the Espresso Martini offers an innovative and simple way to enjoy one of our favorite classic cocktails. Plus, it delivers consistent flavor and quality every time you pop and pour.”

The Kahlúa Espresso Style Martini is launching nationwide at select retailers this Spring 2019. The Espresso Martini will be sold in packs of four and each can is 4.5% alcohol by volume (ABV).
