THEBE MAGUGU JOINS FORCES WITH (RED) TO FIGHT AIDS WITH LIMITED-EDITION HEIRLOOM COLLECTION

Thebe Magugu, the eponymous luxury South African fashion brand founded by Thebe Magugu, today announced a collaboration with (RED), the organization founded by Bono and Bobby Shriver to fight AIDS and the injustices that enable pandemics to thrive. 

The partnership will center around one of Thebe’s most coveted collections, the Custom Heirloom Shirt. The Heirloom Collection celebrates and honors anyone who has left an impact on the wearer’s life – living or transitioned, blood or chosen. The (THEBE MAGUGU) RED  Heirloom II, a limited-edition capsule, which features a Custom Heirloom Shirt, Custom Heirloom Elastic Waist Wide-Leg Pant and Custom Heirloom Tote Bag is available to both men and women and is available in 4 vibrant colorways: Kiwi Green, Vanilla White, Blueberry Navy, and the special Strawberry (RED). 

The Shirt is created in a pajama-style linen-look woven fabric, with custom stainless-steel Sisterhood Buttons. The sleeve features an inner tab that allows the wearer to roll them up for a stylistic switch-up. The straight-leg trousers have an elasticated back waistband for ease of fit, with three pockets in total. A strappy tote-bag completes the ‘elevated comfort’ look.

Special Advisor on International Disability Rights Travel to South Korea, Brunei, Malaysia, and Cambodia 

Special Advisor on International Disability Rights (SAIDR) Sara Minkara will travel to the Republic of Korea (ROK), Brunei, Malaysia, and Cambodia on July 25 – August 2 to promote the continued integration of disability policy in ASEAN and APEC. In the ROK, SAIDR Minkara will meet with government officials to discuss building upon the United States’ and ROK’s efforts to mainstream disability policy across APEC working groups. In Brunei, SAIDR Minkara will meet with government officials to discuss fostering disability inclusion across faith-based and sporting communities. In Malaysia and Cambodia, SAIDR Minkara will meet with government officials to discuss integration of disability policy across the ASEAN pillars. SAIDR Minkara’s trip aims to mainstream disability policy within a cross section of society, highlighting its benefits to economic growth and political cooperation ahead of ASEAN and APEC 2025.

GLORILLA – TGIF

GRAMMY-nominated artist GloRilla unleashed the full version of her highly-anticipated song “TGIF,” which is available to stream HERE via CMG/Interscope Records.

“TGIF” first gained traction when Glo previewed the song on social media, which created massive demand for the song’s release. She eventually started performing the song during stops on Megan Thee Stallion’s Hot Girl Summer Tour, with the crowd rapping along with her memorable lyrics “It’s 7pm Friday, it’s 95 degrees…I ain’t got no n—a and no n—a ain’t got me.”

“TGIF” comes on the heels of her star-studded collaboration “Wanna Be (Remix)” featuring Megan Thee Stallion and Cardi B. First teased at Megan and Glo’s tour stop at Madison Square Garden last month, the pair teamed with Cardi, who delivered a dynamic verse, stamping the remix as the official go-to anthem for the summer. “Wanna Be” first debuted at No. 11 on the Billboard Hot 100 upon its release and, after this star-studded remix, soared back into the top 15, proving why GloRilla remains one of the genre’s top hitmakers.

Following the tour, GloRilla will be performing at the 2024 BET Awards this June, where she received two nominations, including Best Female Hip-Hop Artist and BET HER for “Yeah Glo!.” Glo’s success this year comes from her 12-track project Ehhthang Ehhthang, which boasts big-name features, ranging from her Song of the Summer collaboration with Megan The Stallion on “Wanna Be” to her team-up with CMG running-mate MoneyBagg Yo on “All Dere.” Ehhthang Ehhthang also includes her top 30 Billboard Hot 100 song “Yea Glo!” and her newly released video “High AF,” which includes a cameo from Snoop Dogg.

KATSEYE

KATSEYE – the first-ever global girl group formed using KPOP artist development methodologies – is launching in epic fashion this summer, dropping two singles in the lead up to the release of the group’s debut EP, out in August via HYBE x Geffen Records, and the premiere of a Netflix docuseries about their origin story.

The bold first single from KATSEYE – will be released June 28 12:00 AM ET / June 27 9:00 PM PT. Pre-save HERE. The group’s second single will follow in July.

The Netflix docuseries “Pop Star Academy: KATSEYE” follows the year-long process of creating this one-of-a-kind girl group. With unprecedented access, the series will be a compelling portrayal of the journey to global stardom, including insight into the unique training and development program from HYBE and Geffen Records. The series, which will premiere this summer, was directed by Nadia Hallgren (Becoming) and produced by HYBE, Interscope Films and Boardwalk Pictures.

Ranging in age from 16 to 21 and coming from immensely different cultures, the six members of KATSEYE are: DANIELA (Atlanta, GA USA); LARA (Los Angeles, CA USA); MANON (Zurich, Switzerland); MEGAN (Honolulu, HI USA); SOPHIA (Manila, Philippines); and YOONCHAE (Seoul, South Korea).  Today, they revealed the KATSEYE logo. 58th Annual Frederick Douglass Awards Gala

Last night, the New York Urban League celebrated a historic evening at its 58th Annual Frederick Douglass Awards Gala hosted by GMA3’s DeMarco Morgan. This prestigious event recognizes exceptional individuals whose contributions have significantly impacted the pursuit of equality and justice. The gala, named after the renowned abolitionist and social reformer Frederick Douglass, was held at the landmark Ziegfeld Ballroom. Honorees Aurora James, George Gresham, Camille Joseph-Goldman, and Renee McClure were celebrated for their remarkable achievements, alongside Honorary Co-chair Meagan Good.

Aurora James, renowned for her groundbreaking organization 15% Pledge and her leadership in fashion and activism, received the Frederick Douglass Medallion. Her innovative endeavors and commitment to fostering economic equity have reshaped the fashion industry’s landscape and uplifted marginalized voices.

George Gresham, the President of 1199SEIU United Healthcare Workers East, was also recognized with the Frederick Douglass Medallion for his tireless efforts to champion workers’ rights and improve healthcare accessibility, making a significant difference in communities across New York City and beyond.

Renee McClure, an esteemed advocate for social justice and racial equity, was likewise bestowed with the Frederick Douglass Medallion. Her tireless efforts to address systemic injustices and amplify marginalized voices have been instrumental in advancing the cause of equality.

Camille Joseph-Goldman, a trailblazer in education and community development, was presented with the Ann S. Kheel Award. Honorary Co-chair Meagan Good addressed attendees with brief remarks, emphasizing the importance of solidarity and collective action in the ongoing struggle for justice. Host DeMarco Morgan skillfully guided the evening’s proceedings, ensuring a memorable and impactful event for all attendees who were inspired by the honorees’ stories of resilience and dedication. The playground of the rich and famous Selling Sunset stars Jason Oppenheim and Mary Fitzgerald were amongst the international jet set attending the party.

On Saturday 25th and Sunday 26th May, creators of the legendary F1 party scene, Amber Lounge Monaco celebrated twenty years of Grand PrixTM entertainment with DJ Sets and performances from DJ Jax Jones, singer Hannah Boleyn, and rapper, Fatman Scoop.

The hotly anticipated Amber Lounge party saw a reimagined, bespoke pop-up club built on the terrace of Le Méridien Beach Plaza – the only hotel in Monte Carlo with its own private beach and direct tender access to the track. 

Guests were taken on a multi-sensorial journey – an extraordinary, timeless scene evoking Hollywood glamour, which evolved into a high-energy production until the early hours of the morning.

The amphibious assault ship USS Bataan (LHD 5) will host Fleet Week New York

(FWNY) 2024 Media Day, immediately following the arrival of the ship to Pier 88 South, Manhattan, May 22.

FWNY provides an opportunity for citizens of New York City and the surrounding tri-state area to meet sailors, marines, and Coast Guardsmen, as well as see firsthand the latest capabilities of today’s maritime services. It is anticipated that nearly 2,300 sailors, marines, and Coast Guard personnel will participate this year.
