FIVIO FOREIGN – 800 B.C.

Following weeks of anticipation, Fivio Foreign, one of 2020’s artists to watch releases the long awaited mixtape 800 B.C.today via Columbia Records. The accompanying reminiscent visual for “Drive By” directed by JLShotThat is live HERE.

With features from Meek MillLil TjayQuavo and Lil Baby, 800 B.C. previews what’s to come from Fivio Foreign’s upcoming debut album. Frequent collaborator AXL Beats assists on the production end as well as 808 MeloYamaica & more. Following a year of successful momentum, the Brooklyn drill sound that took over the East Coast alongside Fivio’s energetic and contagious rhymes is what sets the rising rapper apart from the pack. After receiving many notable co-signs from his peers and landing on multiple “Artists To Watch” lists including BillboardComplexHotNewHipHop & more, Fivio Foreign is solidifying his space in music.

ABOUT FIVIO FOREIGN

A quintessential part of living in New York City’s largest borough, Brooklyn, especially for those with sharp ears, is witnessing the speed at which an infectious song can travel. From brownstone stoops to car stereos, Brooklyn blocks are the ultimate lab for testing the mad science of a hit record. Every summer, a slew of tracks face off to claim the season’s title, and one of 2019’s hottest contenders, rapper Fivio Foreign’s Big Drip”,took the city by storm. Released in June, the song boasts millions of streams across platforms and its accompanying video surpassing 25 million views on YouTube.

Fivio is New York born and bred, raised in and around Brooklyn’s Fort Greene and East Flatbush neighborhoods. He’s been rapping all his life—”We used to rap in the room with a computer, me, my cousin Nate, we was always lit.” Charming and confident, the telltale signs of a New York hustler – it wasn’t until 2018, following the death of his mother and after years of recording and putting songs out casually, that Fivio began to take his craft seriously. Now a major player in Brooklyn’s burgeoning drill music scene, Fivio has collaborated most with UK producer AXL Beats, who also lent his talents to “Wetty”, “Jumpin’” and Rich The Kid-assisted “Richer Than Ever”. “I feel like my music is like me,” Fivio says about his growing catalog of party-ready heat. “It’s fun, turnt up, and loud, but serious at the same time.

Fivio was coined his name due to an innocent miscommunication: “My son Dot named me. He was like ‘You remind me of Fabio’, but I thought he said Fivio because I don’t know Fabio,” he admits. “I actually like the number 6 better,” he says, adding that his name has nothing to do with numerology. The story of Fivio’s name is emblematic of his easy going nature and his will to have fun as often as possible. In the video for Big Drip, a raucous crew takes over ice cream trucks and cocks nerf water guns while women twerk along to the summer anthem. But as lighthearted as he is in person and in his music, Fivio’s life hasn’t been a walk in the park. To the contrary, it’s the joy he finds in making music that keeps him going.

Still, he considers the moments leading up to the launch of his career as divinely calculated. “I got signed on my mother’s birthday, and I got the keys to my first house on the day thatshe died,” he says with conviction. On where’s he’s headed, Fivio is wide-eyed with big dreams: “I’m ushering in a new wave. I know for a fact that I’m here to do something biggerthan me. I want everyone to start knowing my face like how they know my music.” It doesn’t get more New York than that.

As his lofi hip-hop gem “death bed (coffee for your head)” continues to climb charts around the world, breakout artist Powfu is treating fans to a new track and video called “im used to it” today. Watch the video HERE. The DIY-style visual was created and edited by Powfu’s cousin Meliodic in his hometown of Vancouver. The video follows Powfu around a high school campus and brings the song’s lonely imagery to life.

“death bed (coffee for your head)” is currently #5 on Spotify’s Global Top 50, sitting with the company of The Weeknd, Drake, and Dua Lipa, while also reaching #10 on the US Top 50, and gaining 5M+ audio streams worldwide per day. About Powfu:

The 21-year-old Canadian artist started recording in the basement of his parents’ home and started releasing music on Soundcloud while still in high school. After finalizing his image and sound, his numbers started rapidly increasing, gaining millions of streams over multiple platforms. He has collaborated with many artists on the rise such as Rxseboy, Guardin, and Snow. His genre can vary from chill-lo-fi to hype-punk, as he finds inspiration through older punk-rock bands as well as newer hip-hop artists such as G-Eazy and Madeintyo.

European settlers also were a part of the Door County community. But the peninsula has always had residents with many dating back 12,000 years ago. This is to say, Door County, Wisconsin is welcoming to people from all walks of life.

Amtrak Teams with Transportation Partners Across the Country to #SoundTheHorn to Honor All Essential Workers

Coalition of transportation agencies join in solidarity to honor heroic workers across the country by giving two horn blasts at 3:00 p.m. ET on Thursday, April 16

Amtrak is collaborating with transportation partners nationwide to honor all of the heroic transportation and other essential workers across the country with the #SoundTheHorn campaign – a coordinated effort to simultaneously sound vehicle horns at 3:00 p.m. ET on Thursday, April 16.

Partners supporting the cause throughout the country include the Metropolitan Transportation Authority, NJ TRANSIT, the Port Authority of New York and New Jersey in the Northeast, SEPTA and the Maryland Transit Administration in the Mid-Atlantic region, MBTA in New England, Memphis Area Transit Authority in the South, Metra, PaceBus and NICTD in the Midwest and Metrolink and AC Transit on the West Coast.

As a tribute to the essential workers on the front lines of this public health crisis, including transportation workers, every Amtrak train in service across the country, and several thousand trains and buses running in service nationwide, will give two one-second horn blasts in solidarity with partner agencies. Heroic transportation workers continue to provide critical service for heroic healthcare workers, first responders, childcare workers, grocery store employees and other heroes who are performing critically essential work during the COVID-19 pandemic.

“Every hero deserves to be recognized and thanked for their courage, selflessness and the help they are providing to this country during this time,” said Amtrak Senior Executive Vice President and Chief Operating and Commercial Officer Stephen Gardner. “We are proud to participate with our partners and ‘sound our horns’ by honoring and thanking all of the heroes across the nation who continue their essential and heroic service.”

“I’m grateful for this opportunity to recognize and thank essential employees working throughout Oregon’s transportation system,” said ODOT Director Kris Strickler. “These individuals are on the front-line, providing critical services to help us get through the COVID-19 challenges. By joining with others across the country in this campaign, we’re making our message loud and clear: ‘We couldn’t do it without you.’”

“The San Joaquin Joint Powers Authority (SJJPA) and Amtrak San Joaquins staff are committed to continuing to provide essential transportation for Californians and to #SoundTheHorn on Thursday along with our regional partners,” said SJJPA Executive Director Stacey Mortensen. “While we continue to navigate this challenging environment, we understand that services like the San Joaquins continue to provide connectivity to many Californians including essential workers and others in need of alternative transportation options. We thank all the region’s transportation workers for their incredible commitment and service.”

“We are grateful for the onboard crew and all other transit staff who come to work each day to perform essential duties,” said Al Murray, chairman of the Los Angeles–San Diego–San Luis Obispo Rail Corridor Agency, which oversees the Amtrak Pacific Surfliner service. “These people work to move essential personnel including our region’s hospital workers and first responders, and we commend their tireless efforts to provide this vital public service.”

“We are incredibly grateful to all of the frontline staff who continue to serve those passengers who rely on our service every day,” said Managing Director of the Capitol Corridor Joint Powers Authority, Rob Padgette. “Without the vital work they do on board our trains, at stations, and in the maintenance yards, we would not be able to provide the core level of service needed for essential workers to travel within Northern California.”

“AC Transit’s hero’s neither wears a cape nor costume,” said General Manager, Michael Hursh. “Instead, our hero’s suit up in personal protective equipment, each day, to ensure that the most vulnerable in our communities continue to have access to life essentials: doctors, groceries, and paychecks. We now know, our Bus Operators, Mechanics, Service Employees, and Road Supervisors are helping local healthcare workers arrive at treating facilities to battle COVID-19. We are witnessing American courage and bravery personified, so #SoundTheHorn is the least we can collectively do to honor the quiet daily heroism of transit professionals.”

“I am so thankful to the essential workers, including our own, that are dedicated during these challenging times to keep our communities functioning,” said Metrolink CEO Stephanie Wiggins. “We are blowing our horns to observe their service as we help those who are helping others by getting them to work and the places they need to go. At the same time, we support the message of health and government officials to the community: If you can stay home, please do. If you need transportation for an essential function, Metrolink is here.”

Helsinki Energy Challenge

Helsinki wants to offer a platform for new, sustainable and innovative solutions, and, on 27 February, the City opened the international Helsinki Energy Challenge. The competition seeks to find solutions, by means of which the city can be heated in a sustainable way without coal and with as little biomass as possible during the upcoming decades. The grand prize of the competition is one million euros. The City of Helsinki lives up to its global responsibility in the fight against climate change and is committed to sharing the results of the competition openly, in order to allow other cities to benefit from them in their own climate work. The role of the cities in the fight against the climate crisis is decisive.

Despite the world situation caused by the coronavirus, the City of Helsinki keeps investing heavily in its climate work. The climate crisis has not been cancelled and the City is still working its way towards a carbon neutral Helsinki. In order to get the best possible result out of the Helsinki Energy Challenge even in this changed situation, it has been decided that the registration phase is prolonged. The prolonged registration phase ends on 30 September 2020. The finalist teams invited to the second phase of the competition are announced in the beginning of November and the winner of the competition will be revealed in March 2021.

“Our competition got off to a great start at the end of February, and the reception has been overwhelmingly positive both in Finland and abroad. It is clear that we have started something unique. However, the changed world situation caused by the coronavirus comes at a difficult stage in respect to our competition. Innovators and potential competitors now need time to adapt to the new situation and prolonging the registration phase of the competition is necessary at this point. The competition process will remain otherwise unaltered. Despite the coronavirus, we need to stick to the climate goals. We still have to get rid of coal and we want to replace it with long-term sustainable solutions. We are fulfilling our responsibility in the fight against the global climate crisis and we will not let it wait until the coronavirus crisis has blown over. Both the Helsinki Energy Challenge and our other climate efforts continue at full strength”, notes Helsinki Mayor Jan Vapaavuori.

During the prolonged registration phase of the Helsinki Energy Challenge, there will be additional webinars and other virtual events, during which the competitors can learn more about the competition, but also look for members to their competition team. Interested parties are encouraged to enter the competition as diversified and cross-disciplinary teams.

The new competition schedule and further information about the Helsinki Energy Challenge can be found HERE

Western River Expeditions × Virtual Rafting

Virtual Rafting Tours Provide Connection and Stimulate Adrenalin During Pandemic Shutdown

Sitting on the shoreline of life pretty much sums up where the world is at.

“As a pandemic runs its global course, immobilized though we may feel, we don’t have to respond like a deer in the headlights,” said Brandon Lake, CMO of Western River Expeditions headquartered in Salt Lake City, Utah. “Now is a great time to dream about future adventures and plan for the time when life returns to the new normal. This not only gives us something to look forward to, but I believe that exploring the outdoors with loved ones when it’s safe to do so, will become an important part of our recovery process, providing people with a sense of connection, interaction and celebration.”

This active travel company specializes in rafting the rivers of the Colorado River Basin. But for the first time in Lake’s memory, the rafts are empty, sitting on the shoreline. On April 1, Grand Canyon National Park closed, including river operations through May 21, 2020. Resumption of river trips will be evaluated later in May pending current CDC guidance.

To accommodate clients whose trips have been delayed by the pandemic, Lake and his team have been able to re-allocate their allotted permit spaces on some trips in the Grand Canyon for departures later in the 2020 season. They are assisting people in solidifying changes in plans and looking to open slots for them later this summer and in 2021.

Lake said he is “confident we will be able to find an available date for clients disrupted by early-season cancellations who are still interested in doing a Grand Canyon rafting trip.

The company has posted its latest Covid-19 news and trip status on its website to keep the public up-to-date. See: http://www.westernriver.com/covid-19.

Between now and when guests are able to re-embark on rafting adventures, Western River Expeditions encourages people to experience the Grand Canyon and other breathtaking locations via virtual tours. “We put these together before this all happened, but never thought we would be using them for accessing these special places in a time we would not be able to in person.”
