Guggenheim Bilbao 25th Anniv

On 18 October 2022, the Guggenheim Bilbao will mark the 25th Anniversary of its grand opening. Following on from the wide range of commemorative cultural and artistic events held so far this year, and after a record summer in terms of visitor numbers, between September and December the Museum will intensify its Anniversary celebrations.

As with the previous programs held, the events taking place over the coming months will be in line with the values that inspire this milestone: celebration, the Collection, gratitude, inclusiveness and the strength of unity, pride and belonging, and not forgetting transformation and projection into the future, also reflected in the slogan chosen for these commemorations: “Art Inspires the Future.”

Here are a few of the events scheduled for the coming months:

Francisco Escudero’s Symphony No. 3 (Mythological Symphony) [September 25]
Performed by Sociedad Coral de Bilbao Children’s Choir, Ensemble Kuraia, Andoni Alemán (narrator) Museum Atrium

Symphony No. 3 (Mythological Symphony) is undoubtedly one of the greatest works of the final creative period in the life of composer Francisco Escudero, which uses a stunning set of sound and vocal resources to bring together avant-garde music and a series of disparate literary and musical elements—some of them from Basque lore. Drawing inspiration from Basque mythology as depicted in the tales collected by Jose Miguel de Barandiaran, the Symphony is written entirely in Basque.

This concert will take place in the same year that Ensemble Kuraia, like the Museum, commemorates its own 25th anniversary.

Ecologies of Water [October 6] Museum Auditorium

The Guggenheim Bilbao Museum will be hosting the international symposium “Ecologies of Water,” highlighting the importance of the collaboration between the artistic, scientific, and technological worlds for the necessary conservation and regeneration of ecosystems.

Looking particularly at bodies of water, which are vital to the survival of human beings and other species, the aim of this event is to encourage dialogue and interdisciplinary collaboration, and to identify common areas of transnational work, bringing together some of Europe’s leading experts.

Organized in collaboration with the European Commission initiative STARTS4Water and the members of its consortium, including Cittadellarte – Fondazione Pistoletto (Italy), Thyssen-Bornemisza Art Contemporary – TB21 (Spain/Austria), V2_Lab for the Unstable Media (Netherlands), BOZAR and Gluon (Belgium), which will be represented by various guest speakers at the event.

In addition to the researchers and representatives of international organizations convened, this event will be attended by figures from the Basque territory, which is understood as a key scenario for reflection on account of its unique historical ties with water economies, pertaining to both seas and rivers. In this regard, the symposium will feature the participation of artist Cristina Iglesias, present through two of her works from the Guggenheim Museum Bilbao Collection.

Other confirmed participants include artist Mark Ijzerman; Paolo Naldini, Director of Cittadellarte – Fondazione Pistoletto, and Amalia Zepou, former Deputy Mayor of Athens.

The Missing Element [October 14, 15, 16, 17]
Streets of Bilbao; outside the Museum, Atrium, Auditorium

In this series of stimulating performances, a group of dancers from the Solomon R. Guggenheim Museum’s Works & Process program will combine different disciplines such as rap, beatbox, and break dance within the Museum’s immersive architecture. A purely contemporary show which will be held in different places around the city as well as inside the Museum.

Pop-up Performances in Bilbao:

  • October 14: 12 pm noon: Plaza Moyúa and opposite the Regional Council of Biscay (Diputación Foral de Bizkaia) building; 6:30 pm on the Puente del Arenal bridge and in Plaza del Arriaga.
  • October 15: 12:30 pm in the Plaza Nueva, 6:30 pm on the Puente del Ayuntamiento bridge, and opposite City Hall. Performances in the Museum:
    • October 16: 12:30 pm and 8:30 pm
    • October 17: 6:30 pm Meeting of the Boards of Trustees of the Guggenheim Foundations, and 25th Anniversary Gala Dinner [October 17]
As part of the Anniversary celebrations, the Museum will host a joint meeting of the Boards of Trustees of the Guggenheim Museums in Bilbao, New York, and Venice. That same evening there will be a special edition of the Museum’s Annual Gala Dinner.

Opening of the Exhibition Sections/Intersections. 25 Years of the Guggenheim Museum Bilbao Collection [October 18]
Curated by: Lekha Hileman Waitoller, Manuel Cirauqui, Geaninne Gutiérrez- Guimarães, Lucía Agirre, and Maite Borjabad, curators of the Guggenheim Museum Bilbao.

Sponsored by BBK
All galleries in the Museum

An ambitious exhibition showcasing the Collection, which will take over all the Museum galleries in a thematical presentation of its artistic holdings, tracing new connections between multiple languages and highlighting major milestones and tendencies in the history of modern art, represented paradigmatically by works from the Collection. This show is exceptional in many ways, including large-format and site-specific pieces that will be presented publicly once more.

Free Admission Weekend [October 22 and 23]
Just as every year around the dates of its grand opening, and with even more reason to do so this year, the Museum will be open with free admission on Saturday October 22 and Sunday October 23.

Artistic Action with Museum Members [25 October] Technology Supporter LG-Oled
Museum Atrium

The Museum will be hosting a new performance action by Argentinian artist Cecilia Bengolea as a way to thank Members for their close relationship and loyalty over these past 25 years. The action will include the participation of some 450 Museum Members.

Known for fusing video installation art and performance, Bengolea is presenting a site-specific action in the Museum’s most iconic space, the Atrium. Accompanied by four dancers and a DJ, the action combines dancehall beats with a visual journey through archive footage, which will show the construction of Frank Gehry’s building, as well as avatars that will embody the materials that make up the Museum and some of its works of art. Mist, alabaster, and titanium take on corporeal form on the screens and will dance in a collective choreography with dancers and participating Museum Members.

Merging video and performance, and through scanning and rendering processes, the artist’s body in movement mutates into creatures from worlds of fiction. A device will replicate this methodology live during the performance, so that participants and the collective body they form are reflected on the screens, turned into material avatars as well.

Denontzako BBKartea for All [October 25–December 2] Guggenheim Museum Bilbao

The Denontzako BBKartea for All campaign, to celebrate the Museum’s 25th Anniversary, will be running from October 25 to December 2. Through this initiative, all Basque citizens can visit the Museum for free.

Sponsored by BBK, one of the Museum’s Strategic Trustees since its foundation, this initiative is a way of involving the community and thanking them for giving the Museum a firm grounding, the key to its success over these years.

Tickets can be booked from October onwards.

Recital by Joaquín Achúcarro [November 3] Museum Atrium

Within the context of the Museum’s Anniversary and coinciding with Bilbao-born great pianist Joaquín Achúcarro’s 90th birthday, the maestro will be giving a recital in the Atrium, remembering his unforgettable performance at the grand opening of the Museum in 1997.

Art & Music Concerts [November 19, December 17] Museum Atrium

The Museum presents a new musical proposal, the Art & Music concert series, with cutting-edge figures in the context of the Museum’s architecture and exhibitions. This initiative, which will be launched in November as part of the Anniversary celebrations, will also run throughout next year. The first two editions taking place in November and December will include two major proposals: Mastodonte and El Niño de Elche & Refree, respectively.

Immersions [December 3 through 11] Museum Atrium

As the finishing touch to the Anniversary celebrations, Immersions will be a free show of large-scale mapping projections with light and sound offering the public an immersive experience. The show is sponsored by Seguros Bilbao, a company of Grupo Catalana Occidente, and Trustee of the Guggenheim Museum Bilbao Museum since its foundation.

A continuation of Reflections, the spectacle created by British studio 59 Productions on the facade of the Frank Gehry–designed building for the Museum’s 20th Anniversary in 2017, Immersions now takes the history of the city and of the Museum inside the building, where the organic architectural forms of the Atrium will act as a canvas to the projections.

Following the major milestones that have marked the history of the Museum, and inspired on the original soundtrack, Immersions will put the audience at the center of a unique all-encompassing light and sound show, turning them from mere observers into participants in an immersive sensory experience.

Tickets can be booked through the Museum’s website in November.

Lil Baby Drops New Single “The World Is Yours To Take” To Be Featured on Official FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022 Soundtrack

The Grammy-nominated rapper partners with Budweiser to release inspiring anthem for the upcoming FIFA World Cup

Today, Grammy-nominated rapper, mogul, and philanthropist Lil Baby is partnering with Budweiser to release “The World Is Yours To Take,” a new single that will be featured on the first-ever Official FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022. Soundtrack and in campaign content from Budweiser, The Official Beer of the FIFA World Cup. The high-energy anthem samples the iconic chorus from the hit song “Everybody Wants to Rule the World” by Tears For Fears, inspiring fans to begin their journey towards greatness. The pop song transcends generations and geography, punctuating the go-getter energy Budweiser and Lil Baby were after for the collaborative track.

Listen to “The World Is Yours To Take” HERE and watch the lyric music video HERE.

Four years ago, sports fans around the world were gathering for the 2018 FIFA World Cup just as Lil Baby began on his path to superstardom with the release of his first album. Now, the Atlanta native and globally recognized rap phenomenon is using the global stage of the FIFA World Cup and partnership with Budweiser to reflect on his journey and inspire fans to go for it.

“My new track with Budweiser for the FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022 Soundtrack is a special one for me. It is about the journey we’ve all been on over the last few years and celebrating what’s next. When I started in music in 2017, I went all in on a dream that brought me to where I am now, and that’s what I want fans to feel when they hear the song. I hope it makes you feel like you’re walking out onto the pitch at the World Cup making moves toward your own dreams, whatever that means to you,” said Lil Baby.

One of only eight singles featured on the Official FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022 Soundtrack, “The World Is Yours To Take” will be celebrated on Lil Baby’s 28 birthday with a live performance at the Budweiser Hotel at the tournament. Budweiser and Lil Baby aren’t stopping at a global hit single; the pair will team up with amazing artists around the world to release new versions of the song and shoot the music video at the FIFA World Cup in Qatar that will take place from November 20 until December 18, 2022.

ABOUT LIL BABY

Some artists define a genre, but Lil Baby defines a generation. The GRAMMY Award-winning rapper has smashed records, made history, and impacted the course of modern hip-hop with his instantly identifiable and inimitable style. He has garnered dozens of multi platinum certifications and tens of billions of streams as arguably the biggest new rapper to emerge this decade. Following the success of his platinum full-length debut Harder Than Ever in 2018, he seized #1 on the Billboard Top 200 with 2020’s My Turn, becoming “the year’s #1 selling and #1 streaming album in the US.” At first, it cemented him as “2020’s first and only artist to go double-platinum,” but it has since gone quadruple-platinum and has logged 85 weeks in the top 10 of the Top R&B/Hip-Hop Albums chart, marking the longest top-tier run in the chart’s history.

He notably tied Prince and Paul McCartney for Billboard Hot 100 hits and Taylor Swift for “most weeks atop the Billboard Top 200 in 2020” with a total of 6. Out of eight nominations, he scored his first GRAMMY Award in 2022. He has appeared on the covers of Rolling Stone and the Billboard R&B/Hip-Hop Power Players Issue in addition to receiving honors from VEVO, Rap Caviar, the Apple Music Awards, and more. He teamed up with Lil Durk for The Voice of the Heroes, marking his second #1 debut on the Billboard Top 200. It’s just the beginning though. He’s bound to revolutionize the culture again with his third album in 2022. Most recently, he released “Right On” and “In A Minute” which both songs debuted on Billboard’s Hot 100 chart. This feat puts Lil Baby in rare territory, making him the youngest of only 12 artists to have ever landed 100 or more songs on the Hot 100. This generation belongs to Lil Baby.

BHUTAN REOPENS ITS BORDERS

New tourism strategy enhanced sustainable development policies, infrastructure upgrades and new national brand

The Kingdom of Bhutan today reopens its borders to international guests following the COVID-19 pandemic. The country has unveiled a new tourism strategy, underpinned by transformations in three key areas: enhancements to its sustainable development policies, infrastructure upgrades, and the elevation of the guest experience.

“Bhutan’s noble policy of high-value, low-volume tourism has existed since we started welcoming guests to our country in 1974. But its intent and spirit were watered down over the years, without us even realizing it. Therefore, as we reset as a nation after this pandemic, and officially open our doors to visitors today, we are reminding ourselves about the essence of the policy, the values and merits that have defined us for generations,” said H.E. Dr. Lotay Tshering, the Honorable Prime Minister of Bhutan.

“We must also ensure that we are a high value society, one that is infused with sincerity, integrity and principles, where people must always live in safe communities, among serene environments and derive comfort from the finest facilities. Typically, ‘high value’ is understood as exclusive high-end products and extravagant recreational facilities. But that is not Bhutan. And ‘low volume’ doesn’t mean limiting the number of visitors. We will appreciate everyone who visits us to treasure our values, while we also learn as much from them. If that is what you are searching for, there is no limit or restriction. The best conduit to realizing our vision are our youth and professionals in the tourism industry. While those working in the tourism sector will represent us at the forefront, the entire nation is the tourism industry, and every Bhutanese a host. The minimum fee we are asking our friends to pay is to be reinvested in ourselves, the place of our meeting, which will be our shared asset for generations. Welcome to Bhutan,” H.E Dr. Lotay added.

Enhancements to Bhutan’s sustainable development policies

Bhutan recently announced that it would raise its Sustainable Development Fee (SDF) from US$65 to US$200 per person, per night, which will go towards projects that support Bhutan’s economic, social, environmental and cultural development. (Additionally, visitors now have the flexibility to engage service providers directly, or book flights, hotels and tours in Bhutan themselves). The fees raised will fund national investment in programs that preserve Bhutan’s cultural traditions, as well as sustainability projects, infrastructure upgrades and opportunities for youth – as well as providing free healthcare and education for all. For instance, some of the SDF funds go towards offsetting the carbon footprint of visitors by planting trees, upskilling workers in the tourism sector, cleaning and maintaining trails, reducing the country’s reliance on fossil fuels and electrifying Bhutan’s transportation sector, among other projects.

As a country that is vulnerable to the effects of climate change (experiencing melting glaciers, floods and unpredictable weather patterns), Bhutan will also be stepping up its efforts to maintain its status as one of only a handful of carbon-negative countries in the world – in 2021, Bhutan sequestered 9.4 million tons of carbon against its emission capacity of 3.8 million tons.

“Beyond protecting Bhutan’s natural environment, the SDF will also be directed towards activities that preserve Bhutan’s built and living cultural heritage, including architecture and traditional values, as well as meaningful environmental projects. Our future requires us to protect our heritage, and to forge fresh pathways for forthcoming generations,” said Mr. Dorji Dhradhul, Director General of the Tourism Council of Bhutan.

“We need tourism to not only benefit Bhutan economically, but socially as well, while maintaining our low sustainable footprint. The goal of our new strategy is to create high-value experiences for guests, in addition to well-paying and professional jobs for our citizens. This is our moment of evolution and we invite our guests to become our partners in this transformative moment,” Dhradhul added.

Infrastructure upgrades

In line with this, the government used the period during the COVID-19 shutdown to upgrade roads, trails, temples and monuments around the country, upgrade public bathroom facilities, organize trash clean-up events, and enhance the standards and certification process for tourism service providers (such as hotels, guides, tour operators and drivers). Employees across the tourism industry were required to participate in upskilling programs to focus on enhancing service quality.

Elevation of the guest experience

“We know that our new SDF brings with it a certain expectation when it comes to standards of quality and service, so we are committed to enhancing the guest experience – whether that is through the quality of services received, the cleanliness and accessibility of our infrastructure, by limiting the number of cars on our roads, or by limiting the number of people who visit our sacred sites. By doing so, we protect the experience for visitors to Bhutan, as we must be able to provide authentic experiences supported by world-class services and personal care. We also plan to work with our tourism partners to continue to upgrade the itineraries that guests can experience in our country – to help showcase the very best that Bhutan has to offer. We hope that visitors to Bhutan will notice and welcome these changes, and we very much look forward to welcoming all guests to Bhutan,” concluded H.E. Dr. Tandi Dorji, the Minister of Foreign Affairs.

The revamp of Bhutan’s tourism comes amid a widespread “transformation project” rolled out across the country, from the civil service to the financial sector. The changes are geared towards developing Bhutan’s human capital by equipping the population with more proficient skills, knowledge and experiences.

During a special ceremony in the capital city Thimphu yesterday, a new brand for Bhutan was also unveiled by H.E. Dr. Lotay Tshering, Honorable Prime Minister, in the presence of other government officials and dignitaries. “Brand Bhutan” aims to capture the optimism and renewed ambition of the kingdom as it opens its doors to guests once again, as well as communicating its promise and plans for its young citizens. Bhutan’s new tagline, “Believe,” reflects this determined focus on the future, as well as the transformative journeys experienced by its guests.

MOST POPULAR HALLOWEEN COSTUMES

With Halloween just around the corner, it’s the ideal time to start planning the perfect costume for the occasion. Fashion expert Maria Loizou from Karen Millen predicts this year’s hottest pop-culture themed Halloween costumes inspired by the most memorable moments from 2022 so far.

COSTUMES FOR WOMEN

Wednesday Addams from The Addams Family

With the autumn release of Netflix’s new show Wednesday, we can anticipate many costumes replicating the Halloween icon Wednesday Addams, especially as the phrase ‘Wednesday Addams costume’ receives an average of 58,000 monthly Google searches worldwide. Recreate this look by pairing a printed black dress with a white pointed collar, with Wednesday’s signature braids.

Wanda Maximoff from Wandavision

Marvel’s Wanda Maximoff, otherwise known as Scarlet Witch, is another one of this year’s most sought-after costumes, with the phrase ‘Scarlet Witch costume’ receiving 50,000 monthly Google searches worldwide. All you need is a red cape and dress, along with a signature Scarlet Witch headpiece. Incorporating a red leather top, corset or catsuit can really help in emulating the Wanda Maximoff look.

Julia Fox

Alternatively, dressing as Julia Fox is the perfect 2022 Halloween costume that will definitely be popular this season. The Uncut Gems actress is used to turning heads due to her bold and daring fashion choices, so why not demand attention this Halloween by rocking Julia Fox-inspired double-denim and a dramatic smoky fox eye look.

COSTUMES FOR MEN

Maverick from Top Gun

Tom Cruise’s Maverick is one of the most popular men’s Halloween costumes we can expect to see this Halloween. This year’s box office hit Top Gun: Maverick reignited interest in the classic 80s film, sparking 12,000 average monthly searches for ‘Top Gun costume’ worldwide. Fake moustaches, bomber jackets and aviator glasses make the ideal, minimal-effort costume, perfect for those obsessed with the franchise.

Eddie Munson from Stranger Things

Stranger Things has taken 2022 by storm, so we can anticipate many costumes inspired by the residents of the town Hawkins this year and more specifically, new fan-favourite Eddie Munson. Series four introduced us to the Metallica-playing, Dungeons and Dragons-obsessed Eddie, leader of the Hellfire Club. Eddie’s grunge look can easily be replicated with a Hellfire Club shirt, ripped black jeans and a denim vest. Currently, the term ‘Hellfire Club shirt’ receives 41,000 average monthly searches across the globe.

House of the Dragon

Arguably one of the biggest and most-anticipated shows of the year, House of the Dragon will likely be among the most popular Halloween looks this year. Dressed in a long black robe, white-blonde wig and equipped with a plastic sword, we are sure to see many Daemon Targaryen lookalikes this Halloween season.

COSTUMES FOR COUPLES

Elvis and Priscilla

Elvis and Priscilla Presley will undoubtedly be one of the most popular couples costumes this Halloween. Austin Butler perfectly portrayed the King of Rock in Baz Luhrmann’s recent Elvis biopic, so much so that searches for ‘Elvis costume’ have increased 335% worldwide over the last 12 months. Replicate Priscilla’s iconic look with a 60s-inspired mini dress and bouffant hair, and style a leather jumpsuit and gelled back hair for the signature Elvis image.

Barbie and Ken

As a result of those pictures of Margot Robbie and Ryan Gosling on the set of Greta Gerwig’s upcoming Barbie film, combined with the recent ‘Barbiecore’ trend, we can expect to see many couples dressed as the iconic plastic duo this Halloween. Whether it is matching neon rollerblading outfits or hot pink cowboy costumes, searches for ‘Barbie Halloween costumes’ reach an average of 15,000 each month worldwide.

Danny and Sandy

We can also expect to see couple’s costumes from Grease this Halloween. Danny and Sandy from the popular 70s musical have always been a classic go-to couples Halloween costumes and this year will be no exception, especially to honour the late Olivia Newton-John. Black leather leggings or trousers, red heels and matching red lipstick complete this look for Sandy, with Danny needing only a leather jacket and slicked back hair, with an optional D.I.Y Rydell cardigan.

Cast of Euphoria

This Halloween, we can also expect to see several Euphoria-themed costumes. Since the release of season two earlier this year, fans are still talking about the show’s iconic makeup and fashion choices, which make for perfect group Halloween costumes, full of glitter, vibrant colours and Y2K fashion trends.

Sanderson sisters from Hocus Pocus

Nothing says Halloween like watching the classic film Hocus Pocus, especially as the long-awaited sequel arrives to Disney Plus on September 30th. For friendship groups of three, the Sanderson sisters are the perfect trio to dress as this Halloween, especially as searches for ‘Hocus Pocus costumes’ have risen 317% over the past three months globally.

NYC DOMINATES GLOBAL LIST OF MILLIONAIRES

The USA dominates the world’s Top 20 cities with the most millionaires in 2022, with New York taking the crown with 345,600 millionaires, and five other American cities — San Francisco, Los Angeles, Chicago, Houston, and Dallas — securing places on the coveted world’s wealthiest cities ranking. Tokyo is in 2nd place with 304,900 resident high-net-worth individuals worth over USD 1 million, and London, the wealthiest city in the world for many years, drops to 4th place below the San Francisco Bay Area with just 272,400 millionaires, according to the latest Henley Global Citizens Report, which tracks private wealth migration trends worldwide.

Two Chinese cities, Beijing (9th) and Shanghai (10th), make it into the Top 10, and Switzerland and Australia each manage to secure two top city spots, with Sydney (11th), Zurich (15th), Melbourne (17th), and Geneva (19th) all making the cut. Singapore (5th), Hong Kong (SAR China) (12th), Frankfurt (13th), Toronto (14th), Seoul (16th), and finally Paris, plummeting 3 places to 20th, make up the rest of the 2022 ranking.

The report features exclusive data from the global wealth intelligence firm New World Wealth, and includes the five wealthiest cities in each major region, and the 25 fastest growing cities in terms of millionaire growth.

Dr. Juerg Steffen, CEO of Henley & Partners, points out that 14 of the Top 20 are in countries that host investment migration programs. “The right to live, work, study, and invest in leading international wealth hubs such as New YorkLondonSingaporeSydney, and Toronto can be secured via residence by investment. Being able to relocate yourself, your family, or your business to a more favorable city or have the option to choose between multiple different residences across the world is an increasingly important aspect of international wealth and legacy planning for private clients.”

The millionaire populations of Dubai, Mumbai, and Shenzhen are expected to break into the Top 20 wealthiest cities by 2030, according to Andrew Amoils, Head of Research at New World Wealth. “Cities with strong oil and gas industries are performing especially well this year, including the likes of Riyadh, Sharjah, Luanda, Abu Dhabi, Doha, and Lagos. Others on the fastest-growing list include Lugano, a Swiss hotspot for affluent retirees, Bengaluru, the ‘Silicon Valley of India’, and Hangzhou, one of China’s most scenic cities.”

Commenting on the latest Henley Global Citizens Report, Dr. José Caballero, Senior Economist at the IMD World Competitiveness Center, says “quality of life is a fundamental driver of global mobility, and for business executives, high living standards and effective institutions are significant city drawcards.”

Dr. Steffen agrees, saying “cities are centers of opportunity, innovation, prosperity, and culture. We’ve seen record growth this year, with more and more high-net-worth investors exploring investment migration solutions that offer location fluidity and optionality, enabling them to live and conduct their businesses across a wide range of different jurisdictions and cities.”

LQQK Studio × Reebok

Today, design collective LQQK Studio and Reebok have unveiled their first official collaboration featuring two iterations (GY7109/GY7110, $120) of the iconic Classic Leather. Available in unisex sizing, both pairs launch September 16 exclusively from LQQKSTUDIO.COM, followed by a September 21 global release for the “green camo” colorway (GY7110) from Reebok.com and select retailers. LQQK invites consumers to 109 Montrose Ave., Brooklyn, N.Y. for a special event Friday, September 16 through Monday September 19, 12:00pm EST – 7:00pm EST, where they’ll have early access to the LQQK-exclusive Classic Leather (GY7109) colorway, with complimentary food, beverage, and promo apparel to be provided.

Brooklyn-based screen printer and design collective LQQK Studio has put its own creative spin on Reebok’s most well-known silhouette, the Classic Leather, resulting in printing-inspired shoe that people of all backgrounds can connect to, while encouraging creativity and evolution.

“Reebok is a classic brand that holds a special place in a lot of people’s hearts,” commented LQQK Studio Founder Alex Dondero. “I think streetwear functions in a funny way that creates a uniform that people subconsciously fall into, so it’s important to constantly evolve, and Reebok is willing to embrace that.”

Reflecting the studio’s deep roots in street culture, art, and fashion, LQQK’s Classic Leather offers a leaf-printed camouflage design over a white gum outsole. The first pair arrives in ‘bubble gum’ and ‘pine green’, with the latter done in ‘wild brown’ and ‘bright ochre’, with both featuring detailed LQQK branding at the tongue, window box, and heel.

“When we designed this shoe, we wanted a printed pattern to be the main focus,” continued Dondero. “We didn’t want to make a white shoe that doesn’t push the envelope. That’s how we came up with this wild printed pattern shoe… The Printer’s Shoe!”

Product photography (HERE) showcases LQQK’s favorite screen printers in action: “We visited Brooklyn’s Pegasus Prints (@pegasus_prints) and Baltimore’s Carpet Company (@carpetcompany),” added Dondero. “These two print shops fully embody what it means to be hands-on printmakers, and both produce incredible work!”

The LQQK Studio x Reebok Classic Leather capsule drops September 16 exclusively from LQQKSTUDIO.COM and the Brooklyn, N.Y. launch event,  followed by a September 21 global release for the “green camo” colorway (GY7110) from Reebok.com and select retailers.

ALESSO × ZARA LARSSON

Global Swedish phenomenon Alesso expands the sonic world of his hit single “Words” featuring fellow Swedish pop star Zara Larsson with a massive “Words” remix package, out now via 10:22PM / Astralwerks. Listen HERE. The blazing EP boasts track reimaginings from Chapter & Verse, Sentinel, Arodes, and Majestic, plus Alesso’s very own VIP remix. The Swedish duo performed “Words” together for the first time at the recent Creamfields festival in the UK. Watch HERE.

Building on the original version of “Words” — a dreamy, progressive house anthem about being afraid to say “I love you” — Alesso’s chosen remixers showcase a variety of styles and sounds. Beyond the previously released Majestic and VIP mixes, UK DJ Chapter & Verse picks up the groove with a bumping tech house take, while Spanish producer Arodes goes for a marathonic house vibe with layers of mellow, sultry percussion. Australian trio Sentinel then get delightfully weird with distorted synths and hard-hitting hooks.

The “Words” remix package follows Alesso’s recent single “In My Feelings,” a seductive yet brooding collaboration with Deniz Koyu. This year, he also released the Sentinel-assisted progressive house anthem “Only You” and “Dark,” a moody and kinetic piece handcrafted for THE BATMAN.

Meanwhile “Words” has already amassed over 135 million streams, charted in over 17 countries, and hit number 1 on U.S. dance radio marking back-to-back number 1s for Alesso following “When I’m Gone.” Recently “Words” debuted on Spotify’s Global 200 chart. Billboard crowned “Words” as the lead song for their “10 New Pop Songs To Get You Through The Week” roundup, ET hailed it one to have on “heavy rotation” and V Magazine called it a “song that is sure to be played at clubs everywhere this summer.” “Words” dropped months after the GRAMMY®-nominated visionary teamed up with Katy Perry for “When I’m Gone,” an irresistibly explosive track that saw him make his Saturday Night Live debut.

Outside of the studio, Alesso is deep into a new multi-year residency at TAO Las Vegas while joining Bad Bunny’s World’s Hottest Tour across multiple North American dates. Tickets are available for purchase HERE.
