It explores love and romance, but also addresses the relevant subjects of bullying, social justice, equality, the pressure to fit in, and complicated family situations. Mercedes-Benz announced new charging networks at CES via 360 MAGAZINE.

MERCEDES-BENZ × CES

Mercedes-Benz Announces New Charging Network and Advanced Tech at CES 2023

The advancements in digital technologies, EV development, and forward-thinking by Mercedes-Benz were on full display at the 2023 Consumer Electronics Show (CES) in Las Vegas. With incontrovertible electrification innovations — both current and on the horizon — the automotive manufacturing and software company from Stuttgart, Germany is nobly playing its part in ascertaining that the electrification of mobility is progressive, efficient, convenient, and widespread. Aptly, M-B took advantage of the fanfare at CES 2023 to launch its global branded, high-power charging network which will debut in North America in 2023.

At CES, Chief Technology Officer Markus Schäfer and Chief Software Officer Magnus Östberg hosted a TECH to DESIRE press conference to discuss the charging network, as well as an array of other news, such as the Vision EQXX research vehicle with an all-electric driving range of more than 745 miles; partnerships with Apple Music and Universal Music Group to provide elevated in-car sound experiences with Dolby Atmos; and Level 3 conditionally automated driving with Mercedes-Benz DRIVE PILOT. In standard German practice, the announcements were meticulous, tech-heavy, and digitally fascinating. The goal of the perpetuating ideologies from Mercedes-Benz‘s engineering perspective is to accelerate infrastructure development to make life easier and convey how technology creates desire for its customers.

Whether your EV adoration is for the EQ brand or another EV company, M-B is aggressively pushing EV adoption to accelerate humanity’s carbon neutrality target. The charging network will be open to every EV customer, not just Mercedes-Benz owners. The rollout will start this year in North America and pairs with MN8 Energy and ChargePoint, which operates one of the most expansive networks of independently owned EV charging stations in 14 countries. MN8 Energy is one of the US’s largest solar energy and battery storage owners and operators. Completion is expected by 2027 and should consist of 400 hubs with more than 2,500 high-power chargers, including an inordinate number of 350 kW chargers. EV drivers can locate the premium charging hubs near highways, central intersections, and metropolitan areas. Cameras for safety will be installed, and the most convenient locations will feature restaurants and restroom facilities close by. Expect 4 to 12 chargers at standard locations and up to 30 at busy junctions. M-B owners will also receive priority with the ability to reserve a spot before arrival.

“At Mercedes-Benz, we’re fully committed to making the charging of battery electric vehicles easier and more accessible,” stated Markus Schäfer. “By selecting MN8 Energy and ChargePoint as our partners in North America – two of the leaders in their respective fields – we’ll be able to continue to drive the transformation towards an electric future, which is one of the main pillars of our holistic, sustainable corporate strategy.”

In accordance with the network announcement, I was also able to experience a Las Vegas drive in the Vision EQXX ultra EV. Engineered in just 18 months and representing the most efficient Mercedes-Benz ever built, this experimental unit acts as a barometer for production EQ models, which may eventually inherit deviations from its technology, energy storage capabilities, and driving range. Ironically however, an owner of this particular EV may not need the high-power charging network since its range of 745 miles is so extensive. The development intention of the vehicle was to produce a battery with 100 kW capacity, lightweight construction, increased aero, and extreme efficiency.

To evaluate the EQXX’s limits, M-B engineers averaged an impressive energy consumption of 7.5 miles per kilowatt hour on a drive from Stuttgart, Germany to Silverstone, U.K. The RWD EQXX features carbon fiber components, fully covered magnesium rims, a solar-paneled fix roof for regeneration, a 47.5″ 8K MBUX display screen, and an all-planted-based interior utilizing bamboo, cactus, and mushroom-derived materials. Although it’s optimized for highway driving, the EV moves emphatically with its low center of gravity. Comparatively speaking, the EQXX battery is half the volume of the EQS battery and a third less in weight, yet has almost the same amount of energy as the EQS.

After a charge and refresher, hop back in your M-B EV to enjoy 31-speaker Burmester high-end 4D and 3D sound experiences to generate excitement en route to your next destination. With this system, which features speakers in the seats, you will hear and feel the music! M-B collaborated with Apple Music, Universal Music Group (UMG), and Dolby Atmos immersive audio to reproduce every sound element from recording sessions to harvest preferable in-car entertainment through MBUX. As a result, a Mercedes-Benz is now the first device not produced by Apple to present Spatial Audio with Dolby Atmos. Furthermore, this setup provided a lane for UMG artists to base their song approval procedures on the end mix and establish the “Approved in a Mercedes-Benz” seal as a gold standard of sound.

The future of mobility was presented succinctly to showgoers looking for the most visceral human experience possible from the collision of virtual reality and analog worlds. Mercedes-Benz gave audiences the latest innovations, cutting-edge technology, and future cars at the 2023 Consumer Electronics. So are you ready for the next transitioning stage of mobility?

Seun Kuti released Black Thought album via 360 Magazine.

Seun Kuti – Black Thought

Seun Kuti, the legendary Afrobeat family scion, has released his new EP with Black Thought, the co-founder and MC of Jimmy Fallon’s The Tonight Show house band The Roots. The record, titled African Dreams, is comprised of three hip-hop remixes of songs from Seun Kuti & Egypt 80’s 2018 Grammy®-nominated Black Times and is produced by Molotov, mixed by Q Million, mastered by Chris Athens, and distributed by AWAL, with album artwork by Oddhouse.

The duo released an animated music video for the record’s lead single, “Kuku Kee Me (Remix),” on September 22, before the track dropped on September 23. The song is an official soundtrack selection for FIFA 23 that perfectly marries the artists’ unique but global perspectives, combing funky beats and blistering verses to share the message of “people power” in the world today.

The two previously worked together on Common’s single “When We Move,” which debuted worldwide for UN World Oceans Day before a performance on The Tonight Show, with footage of Seun Kuti at The New Afrika Shrine in Lagos intercut with Common, Black Thought, and The Roots live on-stage at Rockefeller Center in New York.

This new album follows Seun Kuti & Egypt 80’s June 24 release of Live at Clout Studios, a two-track EP recorded at the renowned premises of Cool FM 96.9 on Victoria Island in Lagos. It also comes at the end of Seun Kuti & Egypt 80’s whirlwind international tour, which began in Leeds on June 1 and concluded in Madrid on November 7, hitting stops at major festivals and unique venues across the US, UK, and Europe along the way.

The tracklist is as follows:
1. “African Dreams (Remix)”
2. “Bad Man Lighter (Remix)”
3. “Kuku Kee Me (Remix)”

Resy and American Express announced plans to celebrate the intersection of food, art, and culture during Miami Art Week with a four-day pop-up in the Design District led by Michelin and James Beard Award-winning chefs and renowned artist Phillip K. Smith III, as well as special events at some of the city’s most popular restaurants.

“Miami is one of Resy’s fastest-growing markets and such an exciting restaurant city,” said Alex Lee, CEO of Resy and VP of American Express Dining. “During Art Basel week, when we see reservation demand in Miami spike, we’ll supercharge what Resy is known for: guiding you to and helping you get into the best restaurants.” The Design District pop-up will feature restaurants and chefs in Resy’s Global Dining Access* program. Intimate dinners will be prepared by Massimo Bottura (Tues., Nov. 29), Missy Robbins (Thurs., Dec. 1) and Mashama Bailey (Fri., Dec. 2) as well as a gallery day (Wed., Nov. 30) with food and drinks by Michael Solomonov. The pop-up will also feature the return of American Express presents SAVOR & SOUL, a unique dining experience celebrating Black chefs and culture with a menu curated by Mashama Bailey. In addition, Resy will host special events at popular Miami restaurants COTE Miami, Joe’s Stone Crab, and Mandolin Aegean Bistro for Global Dining Access Members.

Global Dining Access by Resy is a dining program that grants eligible American Express Card Members access to 500+ top restaurants in the United States and around the world. The ability to book exclusive reservation slots, Priority Notify at all Resy restaurants, and invitations to exclusive events are among the benefits.

“Art has always been my passion, together with music, poetry, fast cars and motorcycles, and of course food” said Massimo Bottura, Chef Patron of Osteria Francescana and Founder of Food for Soul. “When we are able to put together all these things and create an amazing event I am always on. It is the only way you can transmit emotions. I can’t wait to come in Miami again. It’s all about emotions.”

“Food, culture and art are so intricately linked and I am thrilled to be partnering with American Express and Resy to bring this exciting experience to guests in Miami,” said Chef Michael Solomonov, Chef and Owner of Zahav and five-time James Beard Foundation award-winner.

“Miami is such a lively and vibrant city, rich in Caribbean culture,” said Mashama Bailey, Chef and Co-Owner of The Grey. “We are excited to showcase dishes rooted in these cultures and cook for people who love art and beauty, and who have a discerning eye and palate – it is always a welcomed challenge.”

“I am excited to be a part of an event that brings the world of food and art together,” said Missy Robbins, Chef and Owner of Lilia, Misi and MISIPASTA. “It is a great opportunity to showcase our form of expression outside of the four walls of our restaurants and to introduce our food and hospitality to international and local guests.” Phillip K. Smith III, a desert-based artist from Southern California, was commissioned to create a site-specific art installation for the Resy and American Express gallery in the Design District. Garden of Reflections is a collection of reflective columnar sculptures that react to their immediate surroundings: the sun, clouds, treetops, and architecture during the day, and the action of the dining experience at night. Smith most recently displayed 120 Degree Arc East Southeast, a 500-foot-long reflective installation located on the beach in the Faena Arts District, at Art Basel Miami 2017.

Art Basel brings a lot of weight, of course,” says Phillip K. Smith III, “I was intrigued by the challenge of providing artwork for a space that will operate as a gallery by day and a restaurant by night. And so, I’ve created Garden of Reflections, an artwork that will reflect and collage the movement and action of the space across its varied surfaces while changing perceptually from day to night.”

The partnership between Smith, Resy and American Express was facilitated by UAP who connects artists to opportunities in the public/private realm and supports their design and fabrication needs. UAP works across curation and installation to bring the most unique creativity to life, with projects ranging from Desert X AlUla 2022 to Bharti Kher’s Ancestor, which is currently on display with the Public Art Fund in New York City.
