“‘Witness’ is the confessional album the world has been waiting for Katy Perry to make. And her admission is this: She’s indomitable and awesome.”- Variety

Katy Perry’s new album, Witness (Capitol Records), is No. 1 on the Billboard 200, marking her third album to debut atop the chart. With 180,000 equivalent album units earned in the U.S., it marked the biggest week for an album by a female artist in 2017. It also claimed the No. 1 spot on Billboard’s Top Current Albums and Current Pop Albums charts.

Globally, Witness topped the iTunes Albums chart in 46 countries. It contains the Platinum-certified hit “Chained to the Rhythm” featuring Skip Marley, “Bon Appétit” featuring Migos, and Katy’s new single, “Swish Swish” featuring Nicki Minaj, which has begun its climb, breaking into the Top 40 at Pop radio, iTunes and Spotify this week. The official video for “Bon Appétit,” which can be seen HERE, has set a new record for Katy, surpassing 100 million views in just 18 days.

Last week, she reached a new milestone on Twitter, becoming the first person to reach 100 million followers. Katy has been the most followed person on Twitter since 2013. She recently partnered with YouTube on the 96-hour online phenomenon, “Katy Perry – Witness World Wide.” Documenting every minute of every day, Katy revealed it all throughout the live-streamed global event, which generated over 49 million views by fans from over 190 countries. From thought provoking conversations about feminism, politics and issues of diversity, to lighthearted segments and exclusive music performances, the event featured such celebrities and friends as: James Corden, Sia, Caitlyn Jenner, Gordon Ramsay, Anna Kendrick, Dita Von Teese, America Ferrera and Arianna Huffington plus YouTube stars like Pentatonix, Liza Koshy and Gigi Gorgeous. The event culminated with an exclusive concert in Los Angeles for 1,000 fans, which was broadcast live exclusively on YouTube.

Tickets are on sale now for Katy’s upcoming North American tour. Each ticket purchase for WITNESS: The Tour also includes a copy of her new album. The run, which kicks off on September 7, will include three New York City shows – October 2 and 6 at Madison Square Garden and October 11 at Barclays Center – plus three evenings at STAPLES Center in Los Angeles on November 7, 8, and 10. See below for itinerary or visit http://katyperry.com. Katy will be partnering with Boys & Girls Clubs of America in a variety of ways on the tour and $1 per every ticket sold will also be donated to the organization.

Katy spoke at length about Witness to The New York Times’ Caryn Ganz for yesterday’s Arts & Leisure cover story, which can be found HERE. “Change is…the theme of the throbbing ‘Witness,'” Ganz noted. While there are still plenty of relationship songs…seven tracks deal plainly with her new mind-set. The most direct is ‘Bigger Than Me,’ a statement of purpose akin to Michael Jackson’s ‘Man in the Mirror.'”

Variety said, “‘Witness’ is the confessional album the world has been waiting for Katy Perry to make. And her admission is this: She’s indomitable and awesome.”Stereogum praised the album’s “bright, bold melodies and exultant shades of gospel and house” while Entertainment Weekly observed,”the thumping jam ‘Swish Swish’ is one of the best party-starters of her career.”

Katy wrote each of the album’s 15 soul-baring songs, working with a variety of collaborators. She and longtime collaborator Max Martin served as Executive Producers. Witness follows 2013’s PRISM, which has sold more than 12.5 million adjusted albums worldwide. Katy is the first female artist to earn two RIAA Digital Single Diamond Award. A Diamond Award honors U.S. sales of 10 million or more. In her 10 years with Capitol, she has racked up a cumulative 18+ billion streams alongside worldwide sales of more than 40+ million adjusted albums and 125+ million tracks.

“Built for large-scale sing-alongs” – Vulture
“Mind blowingly catchy” – Pop Matters

June 19th 2017—Santa Monica, CA— Sir Sly will release their sophomore album entitled Don’t You Worry, Honey – on June 30th via Interscope Records.  The album will include the melodic, slow jam “Altar”, “High” –#6 at alternative radio—and Sir Sly’s latest track “Astronaut.”

WATCH THE VIDEO FOR “ASTRONAUT” HERE.

Don’t You Worry, Honey is the most intensely personal piece of work I’ve ever been a part of,” says lead singer Landon, explaining the profoundly cathartic experience  that was making their new album. “Making this album gave me a safe space to come and make music with two people I appreciated more than anything. That safe space saved my life and gave me a sense of purpose and renewed verve for life. This album is an amalgamation of all feelings and the revelations that came during the process. It’s full of grief, bitterness, lightheartedness, questions I was asking myself along the way, and against all odds, joy. We worked tirelessly to make something we were proud of– something folks could sing along to, dance to, laugh along with, and something to make some folks feel less like they are alone in the world.”

The West Coast rock trio will kick off their headline tour on June 29 in Los Angeles at the El Rey and hit major cities including New York, Philadelphia, Chicago and Atlanta (see full listing below).  Tickets are available to the general public and can be purchased HERE.

Since forming in 2012, Sir Sly have forged their singular sound by drawing upon each member’s long-honed musical talents: Jacobs’s introspective yet infinitely searching lyricism, Suwito’s in-studio ingenuity, and Coplen’s sophisticated musicianship and sense of song-craft. Orange County natives and friends since high school, Jacobs and Coplen connected with Suwito through the local music scene. Their early collaborations yielded songs like “Ghost,” a Neon Gold release that quickly earned buzz online. After making their Cherrytree Records debut with the Gold EP in 2013, Sir Sly put out You Haunt Me (which reached #14 on Billboard’s Alternative Albums chart) in September of the following year.

Electric Guest Announce Headlining Fall Tour

“Dreamy” – The Fader
“Pure emotion– Billboard
“We wish LA Electric Guest would write a sweet song about us” – i-D

June 19th, 2017—  After wrapping up a successful tour with Portugal The Man, Los Angeles based duo Asa Taccone and Matthew Compton, together known as Electric Guest, will kick off their second U.S. headlining tour of the year this fall in Las Vegas on August 30th at the Bunkhouse Saloon. The band will hit major cities such as Chicago, Portland, as well as returning to New York City after two previous sold out shows (full listing below). Tickets will go on sale Friday June 23rd at 10AM local time.

LISTEN TO “OH DEVIL”

“On the original version of ‘Oh Devil’ the chorus had some inaudible mumbling that I had sung as a joke,” frontman Asa Taccone explains, sharing the history behind the track’s new edit. “We tweaked it out and made it sound like a sample but we always wanted it to be clearer. We saw Devin Di Dakta on this Jamaican TV show called Magnum Kings & Queens of Dancehall and loved his stuff so we wrote lyrics to the mumbling and sent it to him. He recorded it in Jamaica and we flipped when we heard it.”

The group’s long-awaited, sophomore album ‘Plural’—released in February—displays Electric Guest’s off-kilter blend of electronic, pop and R&B with an even more adventurous spirit than on 2012’s ‘Mondo.’ Written during a period of self-reflection, ‘Plural’ embraces Taccone and Compton’s original instincts, forgoing detailed arrangements and falsettos in favor of a back-to-basics approach – strong, natural vocals, intuitive musical instinct, and unbridled inspiration. The result is a sonic mélange that sounds as if it’s from both the past and future, layering everything from 80s synths to iPhone drum machines to Latin and Caribbean percussion.

1 AMVRKA TO RELEASE DEBUT EP ONE AMERICA ON JUNE 23 rd  ON WLDFIRE/CAPITOL RECORDS

Debut Single “Raised In The Wild” Out Now – Watch The Video For New Track “American Muscle”
Los Angeles-Based Duo On Tour in California This Month
June 14, 2017 – (Hollywood, CA) – Los Angeles-based duo 1 AMVRKA (pronounced “One America”) will release their debut One America EP on June 23rd via WLDFIRE/Capitol Records. At the heart of 1 AMVRKA’s dynamic sound are the divergent sensibilities of singer/lyricist Jesse Scott (an Oklahoma native who started out writing country songs on a three-string guitar) and L.A. born producer/songwriter/multi-instrumentalist Rudy Maya. True to the name they adopted, the duo aim to unify an increasingly fragmented country and break down barriers of all kinds – a mission mirrored in their gritty blend of hip-hop, folk-rock, country and pop. The five song EP was produced by Maya and all songs were co-written by Maya and Scott.

In partnership with Five Four, 1 AMVRKA has created a long form video featuring performances of each song on the EP which will premiere on Vevo on June 23rd. Watch a video teaser HERE.

The band will also perform a trilogy of California shows this month kicking off on June 20th at The Observatory in Santa Ana and The Catalyst in Santa Cruz before heading up the coast to perform at Café Du Nord in San Francisco. More dates to be announced soon.

1 AMVRKA recently released their debut single – “Raised In The Wild” -the song hit No. 3 on the U.S. Viral chart and No. 7 on the Global Viral chart while the track is already approaching 700K combined streams. Atwood Magazine has called it “a rallying cry,” adding that “it’s an anthem for celebrating your roots and reclaiming your life, for embracing your world and powering through whatever struggles or hurdles might come your way, for finding your voice, and letting your individuality be heard.”

With its warm melody, heavy beats and Scott’s urgent yet nuanced vocals, “Raised In The Wild” is both piercingly intimate and universal in scope. “The song is about growing up on your own in a world that doesn’t care about you, and trying to make something of yourself anyway,” Maya explains. Listen to an acoustic version of the song HERE.

Watch the lyric video for 1 AMVRKA’s new track “American Muscle” HERE. With its triumphant harmonies and infectious melody, the song puts an upbeat, heartfelt spin on the working-class anthem and gives thanks to underappreciated workers across the country. “People break their backs every day just to make a buck, says Scott. We made this song for them.” The song was also featured on the HBO Sports Series Hard Knocks. Says Billboard, “1 AMVRKA have set out to bring some light to the country amid its rather tough political climate, creating music with meaning…their latest song, ‘American Muscle,’ does just that. Scott’s spoken word section about bettering ourselves as a country really makes an impact.”

VERA BLUE ANNOUNCES DEBUT ALBUM ‘PERENNIAL’ OUT JULY 21

June 15, 2016 — Hollywood, CA — Unstoppable singer-songwriter Vera Blue will release her debut album, Perennial, on Friday, July 21 [Capitol Records/Deep Well Records]. Preorder will be available Friday, June 23. Today she also shares the new video for her current single “Mended“: WATCH HERE.
An intensely personal album, Perennial traces the circular pathways between love and loss across its 12 tracks. The album is arranged into three chapters, which chronologically trace the development of Vera Blue; from her very first week writing, raw after the breakdown of a relationship, towards a place of renewed strength and vivacity. Included on the album is first single “Private,” with currently over 2.2 million streams worldwide, and “Mended.” The new album introduces a fully-formed Vera Blue, seamlessly synthesizing her folk past with a bold, electronic pop future.
“‘Perennial’ is a term for plants that come back year after year, and I like to relate that to memory, feelings and emotions,” says Vera Blue. “It’s what the record is all about; relationships can be very cyclical, or never-ending, but that isn’t necessarily a bad thing. It’s just part of life.”
Directed by one of Australia’s most exciting emerging artists Cloudy Rhodes, the powerful “Mended” video is a celebration of love and womanhood. Cloudy explains, “I wanted to make a film where we witness the triumph of a young woman rising-up to the experience of love. I wanted Vera to be the protagonist of the film who falls from the night sky, out of the darkness into the light – her falling is a metaphorical representation of ‘falling in love.’ ‘Mended‘ to me is all as about the female experience and that’s what I tried to convey through the visuals in this clip.”

YOUNG THUG RELEASES THE HIGHLY ANTICIPATED “BEAUTIFUL THUGGER GIRLS”

ICONIC SUPERSTAR ANNOUNCES VISIONARY NEW PROJECT

WIDE RANGE OF INTERNATIONAL LIVE APPEARANCES SLATED THROUGH THE SUMMER

“BEAUTIFUL THUGGER GIRLS” ARRIVES EVERYWHERE TODAY

(New York, NY) 300 Entertainment recording artist Young Thug has announced details of his upcoming new project. “Beautiful Thugger Girls” is available at all digital music retailers and streaming services here.

“Beautiful Thugger Girls” sees the visionary multi-art form superstar singing all 14 tracks on a collection of songs recorded earlier this year. Young Thug heralded the project this week via a post on his hugely popular Instagram (@thuggerthugger1). The post earned immediate media attention from a number of top music media outlets.

One of popular music’s most charismatic and crowd-pleasing live performers, Young Thug will celebrate “Beautiful Thugger Girls” with a series of North American dates, including headline shows and appearances on Future’s blockbuster “Nobody Safe Tour” slated for Ridgefield, WA’s Sunlight Supply Amphitheater (June 11th) and Austin, TX’s Austin360 Amphitheater (June 23rd). Other U.S. dates include the star-studded BET Experience Live, at Los Angeles’ Staples Center on June 24th and Wantagh, NY’s Billboard Hot 100 Music Festival (August 19th-20th). In addition, appearances are also set for a number of upcoming European festivals, including London’s Wireless Festival (July 7th-9th), Gothenburg, Sweden’s Way Out West Festival (August 10th-12th), and Helsinki, Finland’s Flow Festival (August 11th-13th).

“Beautiful Thugger Girls” marks Young Thug’s first new release since last year’s widely acclaimed mixtape, JEFFERY. The 10-track collection, executive produced by Wheezy and TM88, is available now at all leading DSPs and streaming services.

JEFFERY made a spectacular chart debut upon its release, arriving at #8 on the overall Billboard 200 as well as at #5 on the “Top R&B/Hip-Hop Albums” tally. The collection – which features tracks like “Wyclef Jean” and the smash “Pick Up The Phone (Feat. Quavo,” performed by Young Thug and Travis Scott – also drew unprecedented critical attention, with Rolling Stone applauding “Thugger’s strongest collection since 2014” by noting that, “as usual it’s Thug’s own sound that predominates: the heroic howls, rasps, mumbles and wheezes of a man who is as captivating a vocalist as any in pop.” The former Jeffery Lamar Williams makes black comedy out of irrepressible sound,” wrote legendary critic Robert Christgau in NOISEY, “cutting the fool with such delight that I found myself not just engaged but agape. Nude or digital, speaking or chanting, narrating or bragging, exclaiming or explaining, sobbing or gasping or chuckling or cackling, his hoohoos and melismas and blahs and mwas and frogcroaks and put-puts are the message.” “Thug understands the modern pop song construction better than anyone: anything and everything can be a hook,” declared Pitchfork. “For nearly 42 minutes, JEFFREY explores spacing, lines, form, texture, and beauty…It’s rangy and stunning, an exciting new curve in the fascinating Young Thug arc.”

ABOUT JAIRA BURNS
Singer Jaira (pronounced Jair-ruh) Burns discovered her voice the old fashioned way — in the shower. A precocious 9-year-old, who was always cranking up the radio and warbling along, she challenged her mother to an impromptu sing-off of the Pat Benatar classic, “Love Is A Battlefield.”
The family home had one tiny bathroom so Jaira’s mom was always in the mirror doing her makeup and singing while her daughter bathed. “I can do it just like that,” Jaira remembers hollering back one morning. “My mom was like, ‘No way, come on!’ She sings a line and I sing it back to her. Then she’s like, ‘Sing this line.’ We went back and forth until my mom blurts, ‘Oh my God, Jaira, you can really sing.’”
Born and raised in Vandergrift, a small, rundown town 30 miles outside of Pittsburgh, the prospects for Jaira actually breaking into the music industry were slim. But that didn’t stop the blossoming powerhouse vocalist from putting in work. She honed her natural ability by belting out popular cover tunes over instrumentals she found on YouTube and eventually started posting videos.
Halfway through 6th grade, she left and started Cyber School so she could spend more time focusing on her art. “It’s a lot harder than people think because you have to set boundaries for yourself,” assures the blue-eyed, blue-haired beauty. “As a child it’s hard to do that. Mondays I would do all of my work for the rest of the week and then sing all day while my parents were gone.”
Eager to learn guitar, she began cleaning houses with her mom until she had enough money to buy her first axe. As fate would have it, one of her mom’s clients, Tom Danaher, happened to reconstruct guitars for Fleetwood Mac and The Who. Impressed by the talented pre-teen’s strong work ethic and sheer ambition, Danaher offered to give Jaira weekly lessons for free.
“That’s when the hunger set in for me to learn and sponge in everything – with this man,” she explains. “He was just so knowledgeable. I really learned how to play guitar, build guitars and fix guitars as well, because he taught me that craft.”
When Jaira was 13, she met local up-and-coming producer, Ryan M. Tedder aka Ryghteous Ryan, through an attorney they both knew. A self-taught musician just eight years her senior, Ryan had already gotten placements with Wiz Khalifa (“Red Carpet”) and Neyo (“Me And You” w/ Kandi Burrus) and was actively looking for new artists to work with under his Upscale Music Group banner.
“I played Rihanna’s ‘Man Down’ on my guitar and sang,” recalls Jaira. “Ryan said immediately, ‘You’re amazing. We need to work.’” A week later, they recorded the teenage love song, “SMH,” at Pittsburgh’s famed ID Labs Studios. “It wasn’t the first time I had a microphone in my hand, but it was my first time in a studio. The session went smoothly and by the time we were done, I knew Ryan and I were meant to go on this journey together. I still get butterflies every time we go into the studio.”
The pair, now inseparable, continued developing, writing and recording together for the next few years. They quietly released an untitled, experimental, 5-song EP in 2014, which was shopped to a few indie labels on the East Coast. “It was beautiful, honestly, but it wasn’t me,” Jaira admits.
